  1. Next comes the decals. Here's a tip. Get a small bowl and put one drop of dish soap in it. Then fill it with water. Mix the two well. Before you put your decals on dip them in the water(one at a time as you go). When you put them on you will be able to position them easily and work out all the air bubbles. Some people also use a water spray bottle. This trick really works and I dont know how I got along without it all these years. Use a paper towel to work the water out from under the decals. Soon there will be no water and the decal will be stuck in place. WORKS GREAT!!! Note: I noticed that I had to cut one tube stripe off each side for my tube stripes to fit correctly. no biggie. I cut them off right on the helmet.
  2. Today we finish this bad boy up. Before I begin I just wanna publicly say that the rubber neck trim and mic tips as well as the lens material in the AP kit are lacking. I went box diving and found a pair of CAP mic tips that I have used instead. I cant help with the lens or rubber material, so maybe he can replace those later. The rubber is too big and the lens material too light. I am starting off by putting the pin striping tape on the ears. I can never seem to find the small stuff but the two stripe tape is always around at automotive stores. I just use the small strip and toss the rest. I cut about a 6 inch piece and take out the small strip. Then starting from the bottom of the ear I wrap it around keeping pulling pressure on the tape but not stretching it. This way it conforms to the ears shape. When I get back around to the bottom again I just use an exacto knife to cut off the excess. Just put the blade on the tape and pull the tape up off the ear. The blade will cut the extra tape. Then I just rub the tape in lightly to make sure its adhering.
  3. Congrats
  4. I have thought about doing a few videos and putting them on youtube. But I am way too lazy for that. The camera is a kodak p880 with a wide angle lens. Its a great point and shoot camera. My only complaints are shutter lag and crummy built in flash. It has a bazillion features and all I ever use is macro and auto
  5. Well.... I didnt get it. I was the #1 choice until yesterday when another guy interviewed with better experience and typing skills. Never needed true typing skills till this interview. They said there were over 30 applicants. I am pissed and tired of looking. I called them every day. Pissed, Pissed, Pissed. :vader1:
  6. Scott's got the hero mic tips I think. I dont get what you mean by "foam shavings".... here's the ones I have seen..
  7. Take it slow Nathan. Glad to hear you will be OK!!! Be careful out there.
  8. Still weighing that. The ESB eyes were originally carved out alot. I dunno if I should on this or not..... Gotta think about it
  9. OK.....now I am getting scared. You know my Father-in-Law was laid off just two weeks ago. He had been with the company 28 YEARS AND 4 BUY OUTS!!!!
  10. ah! I see
  11. You can find the original videos pretty easily at second hand stores and ebay. I had some laying around for a long time. Its fun to see them untouched
  12. Tomorrow I will add the decals and polish it up. Also will make sure everything is how it needs to look....
  13. Since I already have the black out I decided to go ahead and paint the rank on the ears.. Also repainted the screws white...
  14. The vocoder gets painted with a special flat rounded brush that is perfect for this. I just load up the brush and start at my marks. Gently push down and lightly pull the brush along. I do the top of the vocoder first. Then flip the bucket around and tie in the bottom.
  15. Next comes the frown. I am using model masters semi gloss black paint for the frown and the vocoder. I find it easier to paint the frown if I lay the bucket in my lap. Also, I use two different brushes for the frown. Pretty much a standard brush for the most part, and a 0 liner for the 4th and 5th tooth areas...
  16. Here is the brush I am going to use for the ears. The paint is ad gray 5 Humbrol. Mix the Humbrol well or it will not be a consistent color when it dries. I am just going to stay within my lines as I paint..
  17. Tonight I am doing the paint. I start out by using the picture that I posted in the beginning as a reference. I want this helmet to have that same look, so I use a pencil to mark areas that need more attention and to draw out the guide lines I will follow when painting. I need to cut a bit more of the eyes out. I also want to minimize the bump a little...
  18. Oh sorry to hear that man . I havent heard anything from the interview. They said I was #1 or #2 in the line up and said they were going to call me back possibly for a second interview. Then nothing.... So I am still waiting. Thats a bummer for you man, I am sorry for you. Mike
