Trooping at conventions/hot places
RocketFinch replied to bigironvault's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Another plug for Eastbays brand top and bottoms. It's what I used. Works great, good price and the logos are small and are hidden by your armor, unlike UA's which needs to be blacked out. For the heat, fans in the helment do help a little, I have some, but getting plenty of water and taking breaks it the key to make these events fun and safe. As it has been said above when trooping in hot environments, you need to make sure you are hydrated properly. The key is to drink plenty of water and take a helmet-off break every so often. If you can find a location to take the helmet off and grab some water, that is best. Listen to your body and take breaks when needed. That way you will have an enjoyable troop and stay safe in the heat. -
tk 409's neck seal?
RocketFinch replied to TK5144's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
No, TK409 and oiftanker are two different people. They both make great neck seals though. -
Hey Dallas, Welcome to FISD. I live about 2 south of St Louis in Cape Girardeau. I have seen you work over on CT.net. It's some great stuff. Glad to see you over here.

Looks to be an exciting year ahead. The site upgrades look great. I been in and out over the last few days and seem like it changes every time I visit for the better. Great job to all the staff and everyone who's put in the hard work. I'm excited for the great year ahead and can't wait for one of those t-shirts.

First set of armor questions
RocketFinch replied to SapaWanmdi's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I'm about your size and have a set of AP. I agree with all that been said so far. It's a good set. I got mine just over two years ago and it 's pure white ABS plastic. So I think the blue tint is a thing of the past. It's a fairly sturdy set and with all the tutorials here it is fairly easy to put together. -
From the skills you described above there is no way your AP will look anything like a Rubies. Jump in with both feet a pretty soon you will have one awesome looking trooper looking back at you from the mirror with a big grin on under that helmet. Good luck on your AP, Steve. Can't want to see the progress.

I agree with what been said so far. Don't be in a rush to get armor. Keep doing some more research here on the boards and you will eventually find the "good stuff" for you. Smitty does know his stuff. You can't go wrong with AP, TE2, ATA or TM for your white plastic needs.
