  1. My main motivate for everything armour related is screen accuracy But as someone pointed out to me recently - how can something be screen accurate when it's not seen on screen? Like the interior of a helmet for instance?
  2. The elastic is either 3/4 or 1 inch wide attached to the ear screws. Their are 1 snaps on one side and 2 on the other for adjustment. Use 15mm snaps knickle coloured. How long? Long enough to overlap and do up under your chin. The elastic is doubled over at the ear and for the snaps.
  3. Ok for the last couple of weeks I've been working on a new more accurate ESB build. This will be as close to the originals as I can manage. I have most of the arms and legs built so will be finishing the rest of the armour this week. Here is how the armour was after 5 hours of trimming.. I had help building the lid from StukaTrooper and here it is. This is the best looking helmet I've had yet..
  4. You cannot compare these two kits, one is a fan sculpt and one has lineage to a movie suit. It should be closer to the later...
  5. All the armour was strapped the same. One size fits all, no adjustment. Any cut outs at the back of the knees was carried out by the actors.
  6. Very nice collection of helmets
  7. All the armour in the films was built and fitted in the same way. The only thing which was different was the close up v back ground helmets and the holster attachment to accommodate the weight of a sterling being carried.
  8. There are many different types of plastic, gloss hips that will not require paint, Matt hips that will. Also gloss abs that will not need paint and Matt abs that will. I'm working on an abs suit that will need paint. It's very easy to work with and easy to cut. I've also built 3 abs suits that did not need paint. Again very easy to work with. And I've built suits from hips, that again were easy to trim and needed paint. I would do more research and look at what level of work you want to put it to it.
  9. I think the idea of the eib programme was to promote costuming excellence, not seeing who can make their suit look the shabbiest! I think painting the ears a basic requirement from the start. The shims in the torso should be well fitted. The legs could be better too. Just because I like to replicate a few costuming errors seen on screen doesn't mean my gear does not fit well and look well made If your itention was to show off your raw looking stunt setup, maybe a thread to do so was better placed somewhere else and not in the eib application forum?
  10. TE2 is a good choice I think he is making armour as and when at the moment so you won't hVe to wait for a run, but I guess only he will be able to tell you that
  11. The main difference is between fan sculpts and armour that can be traced to movie suits. The likes of fx and now am are fan sculpts so are not as accurate. Then you get te2 and ata which derive from a rotj movie suit so look more accurate. Then you have tm which is a fan sculpt but more accurate for anh than the te line.. Confused? You will be! Read as much as you can before purchase and ask plenty of questions first as things such as body size cost and skills are also important too.
  12. Hi Andy you need to contact events@ukgarrison.com if you wish us to attend There are plenty of troopers on the island.
  13. We who sell regularly have all been there. One of the reasons I took a step back from mass producing belts was the hassle that goes with it. People sometimes forget this is just a hobby and should be fun, maybe I can include myself in there too sometimes!!
  14. Nice progress, what's it gonna be - ANH or ESB?
  15. Looks almost perfect the usual rubber stuff is always oversized.
  16. Personally I don't see anything wrong with how the helmet looks. I've had a couple of lids that I've adjusted which had extra holes left inside.
  17. I don't know you and have not stated I think your are Matt. I suggest you get your facts right and get yourself to specsavers.
  18. Don't panic you can cover the holes on the inside with a strip of plastic. Get some pics up for us.
  19. Not another post without pics?
  20. Yeah come on this thread is useless without piccies î¡
  21. The only thing I would do would be to get some decent ESB decals if that's your goal
