  1. Troop 66 Toronto , Ontario August 29, 2024 SLC Live 2024 This was an engineering and arts students frosh mixer troop at Toronto Metropolitan University with a sci fi / star wars cantina theme. There was a little bit of concern with it being a freshman / frosh party but as it was a dry event and we had handlers, we felt we would be okay. We were pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and respect we were given by the organizers and students, everyone was polite and cordial and we were very well taken care of. With over 1000 students in attendance, this was absolutely amazing. (photo credit Ashvink Photography)
  2. Hi Lucas, and thank you for your EIB application! CRL and EIB Application Requirements: All required photos have been submitted, and on behalf of the entire D.O. staff we are pleased to welcome you to the rank of Expert Infantry. Congratulations! You have done a great job on fixing the frown, coverstrip, decal and blaster issues and even gone ahead and corrected several items that will be required for centurion level approval. Other-Armor Fit/Assembly; In this area we review observations made by your fellow troopers and the DO team. Some observations may lead to suggestions to improve the overall look of your armor, and please keep in mind that we consider both text (CRL) and pictures (screen caps/reference images) when reviewing submissions. 1. A small touch up is recommended for your vocoder. Could you please remove the pencil guide lines (blue arrows). Although not required for approval, if you would like a more clean look, when you are doing this, you may want to slightly lengthen the stripe marked in yellow on the left side in the photo to make it more symmetrical with the right side. References 2.Your small button plate could be shortened in length slightly to be more screen accurate. References *************************************************** Centurion Requirements: In this section we prepare you for our highest tier of approval. Because Centurion photos must show more detail than EIB, items pertaining to Level 3 might be seen there and not here and additional photos may be required. We try to point out all that we can from what we are able to clearly see, but the final accuracy is the responsibility of the trooper. 1. The abdominal -kidney armour seam on the left side shows the hinge in the gap. This is a great method to connect the pieces but the hinge and gap should not be showing from the outside. CRL L3: Ideally there no gap between the abdomen and kidney armor. Abdominal and Kidney Plate align horizontally at top. A single visible seam line is present References 2. Your Han snap is sitting a bit too low. It will need to be moved up slightly. This will take a bit of work with ABS paste to fill the hole but looking at your work on the ab plate, you should have no problem with this.
  3. Hi Lucas, We are almost there and on going through your application a final time, there were a couple of things that I did not catch the first time around. Sorry for all of the back and forth but we want your armour to stand out at the higher levels. Could you please trim back the rear cover strip on your left thigh slightly as it extends a bit beyond the lower ridge CRL Basic: Cover strip must end at the top of the lower ridge in front and back. The decals for your tears and rear traps appear to not be put on smoothly and seem to have wrinkles in them. On the rear traps, this may be a lighting artifact. Could you please correct these or if this is just an optical effect from reflection, provide clearer photos to show that they are applied smoothly? Keep up the good work, you are very close now.
  4. Congratulations on your first troop. Sorry I didn't get to talk to you. We will need to meet up at a troop soon.
  5. Troop 65 Toronto , Ontario August 25, 2024 Fan Expo Canada Day 4 This was a busy day. We started with a request to provide 6 stormtroopers to interact with guests lined up for the Ubisoft panel for their new Star Wars outlaws game. I was positioned at the door and did ID checks, warned of underworld and syndicate activity in the area and ensured that no secret plans were being sent to the rebels via people using their cell phones. This was probably one of the most fun events I have done just harassing guests. Having 6 stormtroopers in kit provided for some great phto ops. Even got one with my dog who attended all 4 days with us.
  6. Troop 64 Toronto , Ontario August 23, 2024 Fan Expo Canada Day 2 Day 2 involved a live interview with a local news radio station and the morning in my TK. The afternoon was spent at the booth and exploring the con a bit. Day 3 was dedicated to my Darth Maul, so no TK suit up as I wanted to maximize the use of the 3 hour plus makeup application.
  7. Troop 63 Toronto , Ontario August 22, 2024 Fan Expo Canada Day 1 I wore my Death trooper in the morning and did the TK in the afternoon. A fairly quiet day as it was a Thursday afternoon. We raised money for Make A Wish Foundation over the 4 days.
  8. Troop 62 Milton , Ontario August 11, 2024 Oblivion 80’s and 90’s festival This was a car show with everything 80’s and 90’s. It was a real walk down memory lane for me as those were the decades of my youth. Lots of walking and a bit of rain but very fun still. One of our members had his car entered. He brought his bucket along for the photo.
  9. Troop 61 Guelph , Ontario August 10, 2024 Guelph Comicon This was a fairly local troop at a library trying their first go at a Comicon. It was fairly quiet but fun nonetheless.
  10. Hi Lucas @lugalleg, great job on the fixes. While I work on your review, would you be able to send another photo of the Han snap , showing it a bit from the side. Yours appears to be thicker than it should be.
  11. Hi Mark, Great job on getting the leg armour together. With respect to your questions, Is the shin overlap on the boot acceptable? Does it need to be adjusted up or down at all? Also, can I just get confirmation that I have them on the correct legs? The shin overlap looks okay but if you find that the top of the shin is hitting your knee and preventing you from bending your leg properly, it could come down slightly still. Is the gap between the top of the shin and bottom of the thigh large enough? I feel as though the shin needs to come down a little more because the return edge is hitting right at the joint (about 3/4 down the kneecap). I also worry if I don't leave enough space I will have issue with the sniper knee and ammo belt getting pinched or rubbing when walking. The gap looks good on the first photos where you are holding your thighs up. again, try bending your knee and walking and make sure that you can actually move properly. The ammo belt sits up on the bottom of the thigh, so it doesn't really interfere with the shin, the sniper plate will often get caught in the bottom of the thigh, but this can be corrected by ensuring it is mounted a bit forward to keep it in front of the lower thigh edge when the knee is straight. Is the gap between the torso/butt plate and the tops of the thighs acceptable? I think it looks good, but would like more experienced eyes on them. The gap could be a bit smaller but if your thighs have slipped down because you couldn't hold them up, the suspenders will correct this. The bottom edge of the thighs hit me at the top of the knee cap. Does that need to be higher? I think once I get the garter belts on them, I can cinch up the straps and they won't be an issue. That is about right - again, the main thing will be to adjust the suspender strapping so you can bend at the upper leg and the knee comfortably. You likely will want it just at the top or above the kneecap. Right now when I try to walk with the thighs on, while holding them up with my fingers, they are clipping each other in the groin area. No armor biting (thank god) but I can see that being an issue over time. After I glue everything up could I heat the plastic and "flatten" the inner curve a bit to create a little bigger thigh gap? Is my fitting off, and should it be flush with my inner thigh? It is normal for the thighs to rub a bit when walking, I would advise that if you are going to try adding heat to reshape them, to be very careful not to over heat and damage the armour. The blue tape is a stand in for the cover strips. I put on the shins and boots while cooking dinner to see where they would settle out. It looks like they twisted a bit so they don't perfectly match up with the boot seam, but still somehow align with the thigh seam. Should I angle the seams a bit more to try and make it all align, or is what is shown right now acceptable? The front cover plate placements look good, the back ones however should align with the boot seam at the bottom. Your left shin looks like it twisted out slightly in the last photo. it does look like you have enough material on your shins at the bottom edge to cut them so that the coverstrip runs in the right direction.
