That looks great! Did you go back and paint the number lines in the counter? Thats a really cool idea, I might just steal it!

Made myself an e-11 this weekend! Picked up a 3d printed e-11 kit from @kmwilson343 . I ordered it with all the hard parts already pre assembled. The kit, as it arrived: After some sanding with 80 and 120 grit, applied the Bondo Sanded down again with 120 and then 400 I primed it, then painted a few coats of both flat black and silver, followed by a several coats of clearcoat. The spring is currently missing in these pics, because I took it out while painting and well..... just now realized I forgot to put it back in.

This TK build was approved! TK-31701 reporting for duty! Thank you so much for everyone that helped me get this far (especially gmrhodes13 justjoseph63 TKSpartan for always responding to my questions incredibly quickly!) Now, on to EIB!

Is this the most up to date listing for e-11 sellers?
-
Ok, so it took forever.... but I think I finally have the build done. Obv still a checklist of things to go through for higher approval, but at least the armor is fully constructed and fitted to me at this point.

sizing with the shin sniper and thigh ammo added. I need to tighten the lower eod of both thighs to get a better ergonomic fit, but Im thinking I may be about there, sizing wise? The sniper plate almost touches the thigh, but I think that won't be an issue when the thigh fits more snugly at the knee. Looking at the pics it appears the left thigh is a bit higher than the right- thats just a result from where I stuck it on a temporary velcro garter I made to keep everything up while I sized it. Its sitting more evenly in previous pics. Kidney I need to pull up, especially where it sags on my right. Abdomen I tried pulling up a bit tonight, but there wasnt much to be gained there without discomfort.

A little bit more trimming done, first sizing with both shins and thighs. Not a whole lot of space between the top of shins and the bottom of thighs. Should I shorten the shins a bit more? Or on a shorter person is this to be expected to some degree?

Got it, thanks for the heads up, and easy enough fix. You're correct, Im trying to get as close to Centurion as possible with the initial build, so I hopefully only have some adjustments to make when the time comes vs any significant reengineering!

A tad. I'll pull it up as far as I can and see what difference it makes.

Working on how all the chest/back pieces hang on my body. I think I'm getting close? My main concern here is that there seems to be sizeable gap between the back and kidney plate... is that a problem? From the front and side views you can see I dont have much space to slide the chest plate back before it touches my neck. On the backplate side I don't think it should go down much farther since it would expose too much of the back of my neck, right? ps - not regulation pants, but at least they are imperial!

Finally getting back at this after 4 months? Whew, time flies. Been working on my nemesis, the thigh parts. I had to take a good chunk off to top due to my height, and now I have some questions, and one large concern, pictured below. I took a little less than 4cm off the top of the thighs. I measured every few 8ths of an inch and marked it, so I had a curved hash to follow with the scissors. They fit a LOT better now, and I just have a bit more tinkering to do (later pics). My concern now is the gap on the side of the hip. Looking at the centurion side view, it looks like the upper line of the thigh plate follows much more closely to the angle of the butt plate. To my knowledge, I didn't change this slope while shortening the thigh, as I measured every few mm's as mentioned. Is this gap problematic? The larger part of the gap will be covered by the holster/ammo bags, right? But the smaller triangle, where the thigh plate and butt plate angles depart, is that acceptable? Front view. Not the best of photos as I'm holding up the thighs. Left side I need to take more off the top. The right leg looks like its ok, right? Rear view. Again, not perfect, as I'm holding the thighs from the front instead of naturally hanging, but I need to take a tiny bit off the outer thighs here as well, correct? Its close along the rear but doesn't rub, except at the side of the thighs. I do have a garter I'm working on to hold these in place once its all good to go, Obv I still need to do rear closures for the shins as well.

Belt done.... I think?
-
Question on the belt/holster measurements. I was looking at the below guide. I copied it again with measurements in blue to make it easier for me to read. My question is though 1) is the space from the top of the holster to the bottom of the belt is 2.5cm? Or 2) that the space from the top of the holster to the hole in the belt is 2.5cm? My belt came with a hole prepunched by AP, it is 2.5cm above the top of the holster- would either mean 1) I need a new hole 1cm above that one, or 2) its in the correct location.

Thanks for all the quick replies. I need to get rivets and/or the screws so I'll be checking those out for sure. Follow up question (and pardon me in advance, I don't know the proper names for these snap types so I grabbed pics) Do the snaps that connect the belt to the ab plate need to be specifically this type: Or can they be this type? These I have on hand- I'd need to buy the other type.
-
Thank you, I will definitely check out the vid later today. I absolutely hate dealing with rivets,- I'd never heard of chicago screws before, thanks!

Next round of belt questions! I've measured out and marked center on the canvas, as well as the two rivet holes on the ammo belt. Looking around at some other builds here, looks like they all have a third rivet in the center. Is that required for keeping the ammo belt fully supported? As I've mentioned before my set came pre trimmed from AP, but like the belt angles I've have to make some adjustments. Are the 2 holes an AP thing or do I need to drill a third? Second, how do you measure/mark where the snaps on the ab plate need to go? I was looking at the build here, but not sure if those were eyeballed or how they were marked before drilling. Lastly, to make sure I understand it correctly- I'd use 2 (or 3?) rivets to attach the ammo belt to the canvas, then 2 snaps to attach the right and left of the canvas to the front of the ab plate, right? Obviously I need to attach the ammo pouches and holster as well, just trying to figure out the base construction here.

Awesome, thanks for the quick replies everyone! Luckily I haven't attached the abs to the canvas yet, was just lining it up visually and realized it looked off. Ill re trim the corners so they meet higher level approval. No reason to do it as is now and come back to redo it later. Thanks!

Worked on sizing/strapping today while I think about what how to proceed with finishing the legs. Also started planning for the belt. Quick question (see second pic below) The ABS for the belt came pre trimmed. Am I right that the corners cut on it are incorrect as they dont line up with the belt? Or is there some wiggle room in that measurement?
-
Thank you! It definitely was a struggle to figure out at first. I still havent decided on a way to lock the back of the calves yet. I think I will need to cut it to slim near the ankle to fit over the boot more cleanly.

Working a bit more on sizing of the thigh. A few thoughts: You can see it sits a bit askew when pulled all the way up- do I trim some out of the groin/inner thigh area to fix that? Related, Is the thigh plate too long? It feels a bit too long when on my body, but visually I can't really decide. The thigh and shin almost touch at the knee. Last though- now put together with the thigh, is the shin still too long?
-
Been super busy the last few months, but finally working on the kit again. Looking at trimming the thigh piece now. I had to take 1in off the shins, I'm thinking I need to do about the same with the thigh piece as well. Pics below- pulled up as high as I can on my thigh the bottom still sits very close my knee-- too close I think. In the second pic where I have my leg bent, that is the extent of how far I can bend, and that is without having a shin plate on. Obv the fit isnt 100% since Im wearing shorts and not the undersuit, just trying to get an idea of if I need to trim it. I do, right?
