  1. So I think I’ve made a small error chaps. For my arm measurements, this was done whilst they were relaxed and straight by my side. Should I have flexed for the bicep?
  2. I’m so excited for this Potato. Looking forward to BBB Day
  3. So I’ve taken my first step to joining the 501st today and ordered a full commission ANH stormtrooper from RS. I’m super excited, I can’t put into words. one question to ask at this stage. For anyone who has had an RS commission build, when you provided your measurements, did you allow for extra room, or did you measure as you are without being too tight? I chose to go for the latter but second guessing myself.
  4. That’s good to know. I’m sure if it came to more complex adjustments, I’m sure a local armourer will be on hand to help me. Appreciate the advice, Lord. Hope all is well in the USA - miss that place. Sent from The Empire
  5. Thanks for the detailed overview, Potato. The sizing of the torso doesn’t really bother me. I know some adjustments will need to be made somewhere. Was there any cutting involved with your adjustments? That’s where I lack a bit of confidence as I’m not really a DIY person, hence the commission build.
  6. For those of you who have followed some of my topics recently, you’ll notice I have done a bit of toing and froing on whether I should build the suit myself or getting the commission build. In the end, I’ve decided on the latter and after extensive research, I will be ordering from RS and strongly feel this is the right choice. If anyone has ever ordered a commission build from RS, I’d be interested to know how you found the process (e.g. sending measurements, adjustments you’ve had to make when receiving the suit etc)and if there is anything I need to consider? I know there will be a longer lead time for the build due to their recent fire and this doesn’t bother me. I am interested though on how much work I will need to do at my end once receiving the armour, what after sales support they offer (if applicable) and if I can achieve Centurion level with 501st. Thanks all.
  7. Hi guys, After watching countless number of videos on how to build stormtrooper armour, in particular those on RS’ YouTube channel, I’ve decided I’m going to go for it. I’m going to build my own. The research I’ve done shows I’ll have all the help and support I need right here on FISD. my helmet is already ordered and will already be built, the rest is up to me (scary and exciting). I’m going to start a build thread. Am I better of doing this for each separate section or a general one for the whole build? Thanks, Tim
  8. Hi Short, Thanks for your reply. Yes, I’m aware that RS had a fire (glad they’re all safe). In fact, I’ve ordered ANH hero helmet from them last week before it happened so I’ll have a wait on my hands. I would imagine this will seriously impact them and hadn’t considered the already lengthy wait time, so thanks for pointing that out. I’d love to have the confidence to build my own as I can clearly see it’s part of the fun. The reason for my reluctance though is my track history with building things. I’m prone to mistakes and I don’t feel I have the ability to adequately repair a piece correctly if something went wrong. I really want this to be the best it can be so would rather put it in the trusted hands of experts if that makes sense. I’m willing to keep an open mind though so given I’ll be waiting a while, I’ll do some research on building myself. Any recommended threads? Tim
  9. Hi all, Im doing my planning and research for my armour for my 501st membership. My mindset is to aim for Centurian level off the bat rather than just aiming for Basic. From the research I’ve done so far, I feel that RS would be best for me. I’ve outlined my attributes below so you have an idea of my circumstances. 1. I’m 5’8” with a slim build. As I understand it, RS’ armour has direct lineage to the original moulds (?) which works well for my build and height. 2. As a beginner, and in general, I don’t trust myself to build the suit on my own. I’m not big on DIY and would rather place the build in the hands of experts with all the right tools. This being said, I wouldn’t have a problem with modifying a suit built for me, it’s the doing it from scratch aspect that I don’t want really. Any suggestions or considerations on the above with pros and cons would be great. Thanks in advance for your help, Tim
  10. Brilliant Joseph. Thanks for the clarification and pointing me in the right direction. I’ll take a look.
  11. Good to meet you Tim. Welcome to FISD
  12. Thanks for all your help guys. I just have a couple of follow-up questions: 1. In terms of entry to the 501st, I’m looking to get the RS armour later this year (once they’ve had chance to recover from the fire this week...and I have the money). From what I can see there are different entry levels and I’m struggling to find information of what qualifies for these different bands. Can anyone point me in the right direction where I can find out more? 2. is it possible to get a TK number before submitting your armour for approval? I’ve requested access to the UK Garrison forum but I’m still waiting for my registration to be approved so may get a quicker answer here. thanks again for your help, Tim
  13. Thanks, Rob. Really feel for them, even after only being aware of them for under a week. They invest so much time and passion into what they do and sadly this kind of thing happens to the best of us. As you say, patience and support is what they need now and I’m sure they’ll get it.
  14. Thanks One Guy. I’ve actually ordered the hero helmet from RS with a view to getting a fully commissioned suit in the future.
  15. Hi all, For those of you who may not know, RS Props have sadly had a fire on their premises this week. Thankfully their contingency planning has protected their moulds but most importantly, everyone at RS Props is safe and unharmed. They have posted this update on their YouTube channel on how this will impact orders. My fascination with the stormtrooper has been lifelong but it is only recently I’ve embarked on my ambition to acquire the full armor. I’ve been following their content and even ordered a hero helmet from them only yesterday. Whilst they will be devastated and it will hit them hard, I wish them the very best in picking up the pieces, dusting themselves down and getting back to doing what they do best; making awesome armor. Tim
  16. Only joined this site 2 days ago and already it’s been a massive help. I was on the verge of buying a hero helmet from Original Stormtrooper and put the brakes on immediately after reading some of the threads. After more research, I’ve started my journey to be in the 501st by purchasing my helmet from RS Props. Looking forward to sharing the journey and brown box days with you all, as well as the valuable support and advice. Tim
  17. Hi all, I hope you’re safe and well wherever you are. I’ve had a lifelong fascination with the stormtrooper. I have models, keyrings, lego and even a tattoo...but I’ve always wanted the real thing. To start, I want to get the helmet and my initial search took me to originalstormtrooper.com. Owning a helmet from the original mould, complete with its own acrylic display box is really appealing to me, albeit at a hefty cost. Further research has cast some doubt and Andrew Ainsworth’s name seems to be mud from what I’ve read on other forums. RS Props has been another site I’ve looked at and seems to be strongly recommended. Does anyone have any experience, recommendations or advice on this? I’m not DIY savvy, so will never be capable of building my own. I’m also under no illusion that this is an expensive hobby. I just want to make sure I’m getting bang for my buck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, T
