  1. Alright, here are some shots from my Captain! I fixed all the previously mentioned points and in my eyes its pretty done! I'd like to hear your opinion if we can move on to get this as a CRL model and the CRL finally done!
  2. Hey, still on that progress, sadly still waiting on getting my shoes fixes by a local shoe maker as I had some problems with them. In other terms I already fixed everything including new handles for the blaster, so it shouldn't take too long anymore as I was already pretty pleased with most of my built. Updates will follow on my build thread as soon as I got more progress. Badly I haven't gotten any pictures of the photo shoots I did back in speyer so all I got are some semi-grade smartphone pictures.
  3. I think it works with fabric as you did, but if it's done with leather it seems to be a bit different Tough thing I have to be sure, I think in the end the combination has to fit the look.
  4. That's the border I'm talking about, the side border parts are a brighter red, back one is exactly the same.
  5. Looking good, but in my eyes we should clarify that the rear border is not the same as on the front and side panels, pretty good to see in the pictures from my last post I'm on vacation this week and will continue on the remaining parts to be done, hope the first pictures from last weekend are coming soon so you can see all of it a bit better as in general everything blended together very good in my eyes.
  6. Okay, then it was just bad reading of mine. As far as I was able to tell it's closed at the front with some kind of buckle as there are holes on the belt (as for example the tie or officer belts from the original trilogy), only wrapped in leather.
  7. Hi Andrew, I'm always happy to help! If you can get informations from set please share them with us, but please keep in mind even they don't always know everything about their costumes. I once talked to a (star wars) costume designer and he was surprised about a few things... Man he designed the thing and I still knew more details about it? So that's why I only go with what's to be seen and proved. One question to the belt as a non native speaker, does "is closed at the rear" mean the closure is on the back side or does it mean the belt is closed at the front and nothing is at the back? Hope we can move on soon. Everything except the kama (and my interpretation of belt part) seems fine to mee!
  8. Here we go, first pictures just came in: As I always said, the weathering is spot-on in my eyes, all in all it's a matter of lighting and a good person behind the camera. I am 100% pleased with what came out of this built. There are minor changes I but nothing big. The changes I want to do: Extending the gloves so they don't slot put this easily. Rubber band on the undershirt so I can fix it to my hand and save myself from constantly pulling it up. Giving the shoes to a shoemaker to get a thinner shaft because it's quite tight with the shin armor Some more push buttons to prevent slipping of some parts while moving. Weathering the shores (totally forgot that, my bad) 🤣 Blaster handles. Neck seal (I used another one as I the other one slipped out too often)
  9. Alright guys, found the perfect shoes at the world famous Oktoberfest the other day! just kidding of corse, big thanks to my friend @Action Jackson for handing me over his spare pair of FO-TK boots Also, have a good look on our sweet SESQ-Merchandise (the lederhosn 😁) designed by the fantastic @Laubi I tried my very best to get all I gathered on knowledge of the costume into the CRL thread. All I was able to collect was based all on the screenshots we made ourself or screen caps (but they only have one picture per second, first world problems...). I never ment I am using the Hot toys figure as my reference, but in my eyes it was kind of good to see they also interpreted it the same way I did, as they surely had better pictures or the costume itself to work with. Badly I haven't got he luck to know the production team, so all I collected was from the various sources seen above. Maybe it would also be an option to leave suggestions in terms of material choice out, as long as it has the matching look it has the matching look. What about setting the material choices free to go on lvl 1 and the suggested materials from lvl 2 or higher? I mean gold leaving and cracks are lvl 3, in my eyes painted on gold color destroys the look so much more than the choice of the material as long as it goes with the look also I recolored the gloves as just matting it down didn't quite please me, mixed it to be as close to the kama as possible to keep the overall look the shinier undried part is the mixed color, just need to make good pics of it Also it was quite a struggle to get all details of the gloves and hide the remaining stitches, but as long as you are not looking with a microskope it will stand its look. Don't worry, this is the old color last but not least for now present the probably ugliest undersuit trouser I have ever seen...Its a pair of XXL sweater arms sewn onto a leggins 😁 not pretty like that, not pretty worn...but as soon as hard parts go on it's perfect! (I know the color looks off, thats the lightening of the shop together with my camera) Tonight we'll keep on with the belt, prepare for minor corrections in the pending CRL here as well from me 🤐
  10. Hey there, back again with some suggestions onto what we could improve at the momentary CRL: I'm also taking some points mentioned in my build thread, so follow it as Anne (my seamstress for all leather parts in this build) also explained pretty good why we made our decisions as we made them. I'm going in bolt font with my suggestions, hope you can follow. I may have some gramatical mistakes as I'm not a native speaker, correction is warmly welcome! Over Skirt There is a red leather or leather like waist band approx 2.5-3x the width of the belt. The top of the band is level with the bottom of the 3rd button down on the abdomen. There are 2 padded panels at the font, these panels are not rectangular and have a slight trapezoid shape. There are two panels at the front, these panels are not rectangular and have a slight trapezoid shape The body of the panel is leather or leather like. The front panels end approximately at the knee. There is a fabric panel behind the padded front panels. There is a leather or leather like panel behind the front panels The bottom is pointed at approx 110° The panel ends mid thigh. Made from the same material as the rear skirt. There is a thin red border on the bottom edge. There are two trapezoidal quilted hip panels, these panels end mid thigh. There are two trapezoidal quilted hip panels, these panels end mid thigh. The quilting forms a vertical diamond pattern. There are two rear fabric panels that form a half skirt. There are two rear leather or leather like panels that form a half skirt. The panels are same length as the front panels. The panels do not wrap past the front of the hip. The panels over lap at the rear, left over right. All panels have a border and backing that matches the waist fabric. The three front panels and the hip panels have a border. The border is slightly brighter than the panel itself. The backing should match the color of the front. The back panels does have a wrapped arround border, only stitched without a different coloured border. Kama is lightly weathered. Here are the reasons that lead me to this conclusion: Why are all panels out of leather or leather like material? By the look of all the wrinkles that are pretty big and long, its most likely to have leather parts all arround. We don't have a suggestion for the side panels and I would leave it like that because I can understand its hard to get this right as the leather from the front and back parts is too stiff to use it with padding, quilting or something like this. Thats the reason we used a color matched piece of sheep leather. Why did I remove the "padded" from the front panels? When using thick leather with the border arround its already pretty stiff, padding it would make it stand away from the body, thats not the case. Why did I change the complete border section? It's clearly visible that the border is a different color and texture as the rest of the panel. On the rear panels the border is thicker and glossier, also no difference in color from the rest of the panel Also I remodeled the section that there should be a backing in fabric as I can't see prove that there is a backing, but the color should definatly match the front of the panel. What else could we do about it? What about removing the material suggestions and setting it only for higher levels? As long as the look matches that shouldn't be a problem, right? For example we have cracks and gold leaving as lvl 3, in my opinion golden painted color is ruining the look much more. No backing or padding visible at the front panels. Also big wrinkles on the back Also from behind everything indicates it's leather or leather like material. Also it's clearly visible that the bands on the night troopers are made out of another material as they have a totally different color Time stamps where the kama is in movement: EP6 - 31:00 remaining EP6 - 28:00 remaining EP6 - 26:10 remaining EP8 - 32:30 remaining
  11. First point - as already said, I'm pretty pleased with the look so far The gloves are pretty shiny in this angle, already treated them with some mattening varnish, this should already do the trick. Im not going with you that most of the kama is out of fabric. We carefully choose to make it fully out of leather out of multi le reasons: The pictures always have a texture that's not quite comparable with anything else than leather (not canvas or something similar either) The movement when watching the scenes, it's pretty stiff and acting just like it would do if it's out of leather. The figures (even so they are not my go-to source #1 I still took them in as there is no difference in materials as far as I can tell) Shoulders are an placecement thing, they are held in position by the Bizeps, something I just have to correct next time suiting up Shoes... As mentioned above, on their way, but I needed something to wear, otherwise the shins would have slipped away
  12. So here are some fitting test pics: To-Do's: Shoes (arriving on tuesday) Getting Velcro on the gloves (once they are fully dried) Strengthen the attatchment of the lower legs (any ideas anyone? at the moment its just velcroed on the front and thats not enough) other neckseal (I got some more to test here) Belt(s) and holsters Shoulder belts (still unsure what to do)
  13. I fully understand your concerns with the weathering looking too dark. I always had this in mind, but given the fact the scenes with Enoch are always filmed with a pretty dark setting I went that way. The pictures are taken with rather bright light in my painting booth, I also tested the effects of the weathering with weaker lighting as also with more distance, that's where it bonds together pretty smooth. I took all pictures from the different parts in maximum lighting to highlight all the details, a lot of them I also was able to capture correctly only by brightening the screenshots a lot. You seem to be right with the blaster, but that's a problem for later-me as it's first used/needed for a good fitting holster and the costume always comes before the blaster.
  14. Here are all the hard parts: Helmet: Upper Armor (front/back/shoulder straps) Abdomen Backplate (I hope it's acceptable to ignore the fastener, its dissappearing under the upper part and is giving a better grip for a better fitting) Shoulders Bizeps Forearms Thight(s) (second following for obvious reasons) Shins Blaster
  15. Thanks gmrhodes13 for the first reviews! first point...not even the best sanding and finishing prevents you from tipping over a finshed prop, shoved it away for later all the time as its nearly invicible...but you are right, lets get this fixed! Also thanks for the second pic, helped me a lot! Think this is the way! EDIT: now I'm happy with it!
