  1. When you say "Cant fault the service", do you mean that you didn't order the B grade but got them? I am trying to order a full kit (Minus bucket) for the build. I have spoken with AM, but he claimed they rarely have anything come out wrong, due to the awesome equipment they use. I figured I would try and get the parts that a vendor couldn't really use, and be able to help them get some of those parts out of the shop, or saved from the trash
  2. Does anyone know a good vender to go to for grade B armor? someone who might sell it when they have it, but is still a nice vetted vender. I don't want to cheap out and get some crap. I am going to do a Commander Gree TK, but don't really need a 100% pull due to the character not being canon. **Side note, Gree didn't die, he pulled his head in like a turtle to his armor right before that dirty jedi Yoda tried to kill him. LONG LIVE GREE!!! Thanks in Advance my brothers and sisters!
  3. Extreme thanks for this rundown. I'm not sure why the higher ups complain about the JRS then. I have seen so much talk there about how they aren't asked about the CRL. hmmmm maybe they just aren't in the look. I do think it would be cool to maybe update the CRL photos, maybe once a year, as a way to recognize someone for their hard work on their armor, but not sure how we would go about that, or if the legion would even approve something like that
  4. I have been busy trying to get this helmet setup. I think i got it, although i dont like the fan noise, but i will live with it. hoping that once i get Troopertalk going it wont be too bad. and i need to get bluetooth headphones and transmitter for the hearing assist, these speaks are ok, but i had headphones in and man what a difference. but the speakers will do for now.
  5. Well I came here to learn right!?! can someone tell me what needs to be done for the CRL to change? I see in the JRS forum they claim they aren't even consulted about CRL changes. is there something we as the FISD can actually do? or is it up in the air and we have to hope it lands right? you would think with as large as the 501st has gotten, the heads would want to leave it up to each detachment to write the CRL and submit it to the board how often does the CRL change, or how often can it change?
  6. yes that's what I have holding them in right now. the problem I am seeing is that the fans don't make enough contact with surface area. I think with the bracket they will sit against a flat surface and that will mount inside the helmet. My only worry with the bracket is getting my head in. its a tight squeeze if I have my fans anywhere other than the Hovi area or just under the mouth
  7. Just glue the back, not the front. leave the snaps on the front. I am not sure of your size, but I a 6'1" and about 215, and all I need to do to get into my torso is unsnap the cod piece, left the torso up over my head an slide it on. then snap the cod and right snap.
  8. Yeah. same thing with the ammo belt. Drill out the rivet and fill all holes with paste. then reattach! Look at lots of reference photos to see what it should look like. or check out EIB and Centurion approved Costumes to see how theirs looks. Sometimes people can make big mistakes by going off what they like, and not what is Canon. You have done a great job so far. keep up the good work
  9. @salshred here you go buddy
  10. ABS paste will do for that. There is a thread here that I will try and tag you in, as my copy and paste isn't working. there is generally a sight tilt up to that ammo pack, so it doesn't have to exactly sit flush on the armor.
  11. Anyone able to get ahold of Sean? wonder if he needs any help with this. he's so close!
  12. Hey Kelsey, hope all is well! looking forward to seeing your updated photos and getting you to EIB and Centurion after. Let us know if your having any issues or questions! we are here to help.
  13. I only bring it up because his belt completely covers the bottom button on the right button plate. and more for the L2/L3. not basic. he should have basic no problem
  14. Congrats Trooper! as far as the TD goes, please be careful. you don't want to blow yourself up before reaching Centurion
  15. Ok,. So take this for what it is, just more info. I was having a similar issue with my shoulders pulling my stapes out. I can agree with everyone else, but don't think you really need to switch to nylon, but its an option. I noticed that the white elastic you have securing your shoulder straps is rapped round the plastic of the back tab. The CRL technically says that the small elastic band should secure the shoulder strap to the fabric that connects the two parts, not to the back. I had mine set up like yours, and when I moved that elastic "tie" strap forward off the back tab, it helped pull my fabric back in and under the strap. But I do agree you have a little too much "play" in the fabric and may want to tighten that up. really easy fix. Also, if you don't mind a little more advise, if you haven't done so already, when you shorten up the strap, double over the ends (fold the end about an inch over itself) and secure your snaps that way. This will give you extra strength at the snaps and help to prevent the snap from slipping the hole. The other thing I had to do that really helped the pull, was take a small piece of ABS and seat the snap that connects the shoulder strap in that along with the snap. This first time I did it without the ABS tab, the pull from the shoulders almost completely pulled the snap loose. Hope this helps and please keep us updated on your journey. EIB and Centurion are in your further for sure!
  16. cool, thanks for your response. these helmet electronics are for sure not my area. I might just bight the bullet and order the mounting bracket from @ukswrath
  17. So i clicked on this because i am trying to cut down the fan vibration in my bucket. I am thinking of Hot gluing them in. did you ever get it figured out in your bucket?
  18. also, it appears that the straps between your biceps and your forearms are on the wrong side, and should be on the "upper" part of the arm, where the bend in the elbow is, basically the inside of the elbow. you have it on the outside contouring the elbow itself. actually now that i am looking more, do you have strapping on both sides? If you can, try and roll your shoulders forward to cover some of the black showing between your chest and arms. your right thigh needs to come up to match your back thigh, on the photo of you from behind. Rotate the belt a little so that the middle cover button lines up with the middle of your abs. Pull your biceps up, this will fix the spacing issues with your forearms almost overlapping your hand plates. try and line up your abs with the kidney plate. and your butt plate is sticking out. overall you have a really nice build. just small fitment issues that might be because you were rushing between setting the camera and getting into position. A lot of what i mentioned is nit picky stuff, but can be turned away from the GML.
  19. Jon, Welcome and you have come to a great place to get help with your pre-approval. May i suggest that you actually post you photos to the forum and not just the link to your imgur. this will make it easier for people to view your photos. I did check them out and it looks like a strong build. as far as basic goes i would only suggest that you make sure all your armor parts line up. i see several things that look out of place, one of which being your calves in the back do not line up and will get you kicked back by some GMLs. it is most helpful to have someone help you out with photos. one suggestion is to contact someone within you garrison for help. that person should be an approved TK, and can help fix the alignments when taking the photos.
  20. Good luck trooper, keep us posted!
  21. From the CRL Tube stripes are between 9 and 16 on each side. but it doesn't say an even number. If I am not mistaken, the Hero versions have different numbers of stripes on each side. but again that would be something to check on with your GML. Some wont care, some will deny you right away. its all up to them
  22. hey just checking in here. Yes as Lucnak said, a hot water bath will help that butt tuck under well. I had the same issue with mind but took a heat gun to it. the only real thing that is bugging me about your armor is the thigh ammo belt. That may need to be replaced. you have done a great job with what you have. if I could offer a bit of advise that may help in the long run (and end game of being 501st approved) is to get in touch with your local garrison. find out who the GML is and start talking with them, they will be the ones approving you after all. They can start pointing things out that they may not like or that is fine and you wont really need to fix. Keep it coming here as well, but use all avenues you can to get that armor in battle ready condition. the only other thing that kinda sticks out to me now is the tub stripes on the helmet, my get knocked for them flowing under the ears. do you have a plan for those? you must be very careful with what you put on that plastic to remove paint
  23. I cant really tell, but it looks like you may still have the return edge on them. Taking that off will help a lot. Only things I can really see right off (and this is for L2/L3) is that you will need to bring your belt down a bit, so that is sits at the base of the ab buttons, not across them, and you may need to pull your biceps up a little to even out the space between the hand/forearm and forearm/bicep. Cant wait to hear that you have submitted for approval and then we can slingshot you into EIB and Centurion! keep up the awesome work
