Cricket's WTF Hero Build (even more TK for the Vertically Challenged)
LTM replied to Cricket's topic in ANH Build Threads
I am in the GA garrison. Went to my first armor party a month ago, just didn't have the time to return yet with the holidays and work. Trying to get some done so I can have a more meaningful build session instead of "trim this and come back" for the next party. My wife and daughter are signed up in the great jawa build so we can troop together, so later this year you will see us out representing the empire. Was searching the WTF FB group on the shins, I see the jury is still out on the correct pairing. Anyways, glad you are doing better despite the flu bug, will keep my eye on this build -
Cricket's WTF Hero Build (even more TK for the Vertically Challenged)

Hope all is well and you are able to return to everything else first. Then restart this great build thread. -
So as I do more reading on these "new to me" threads, I am getting the message to fit the armor to the correct specs in the front first, then make any adjustments to the rear after the front has been connected. The fronts of all limb pieces should be assembled first because their size is constant no matter what size you are. For anyone reading this with a WTF, make sure to read this thread:
-
Thanks Shasha, I found the thread, already good stuff on making ABS paste
-
Here's a link to a good series on building, just watching it for the first time myself
-
Jeff, Doing the same build and having some of the same issues as you. Check out my build thread for pictures and comments others made to help me out.

With the shoulder bell, there is an area that looks like a good cut line as the surface is not smooth (as shown by the pencil line). But I think there is another line (where my finger is pointing). When fitting the bell, do you want the outside flush to your shoulder (or another question how to fit)?

Keep up the suggestions, I need all the help I can get. I really do appreciate the feedback, as a WTF kit there is not too many build logs to follow at this time.
-
One other question, do I thin both ends for centurion level?
-
I think I have this correct (left and right), please let me know if not correct. So if I have this correct, I want to make the strip facing forward 15mm (7.5 reveal on each part) and then fit on the backside? In this picture, cut each side 7.5mm? This is my first real cut on armor, so I have the "typical" hesitation of a new builder.
-
He offers two versions, I didn't choose the one with the bend as it would seem to dig into the armor.

Replacement TD from TrooperBay is built (very easy). Used the clips from ukswrath. Looked at the specs, hopefully I got this measured and cut correctly.
-
One of the inserts fell out (bad joint), so fixing it I should have used the drill bit and rotated by hand. After all the goofs, I get why those that have built can do a better job the second time.
-
Decided to work on the TD while the paint was drying. So I sanded the pipe and jammed on one of the caps While I got it on, the sides of the cap was distorted (and I did the boiling water bath). Started to think the caps are undersized (I did see where some got two versions -one large and one small), I think maybe I got both too small. Did the second cap (again I boiled it) and had all kinds of issues Thinking there is no way these could have ever gone on and looked correct So I ordered a kit from TrooperBay, everything fits like it should

Used epoxy putty around the eyes to form a ridge for the lenses to be placed with inserts and screws. Got carried away fixing one and drilled through the face. My dog learned a few new curse words that day :-)
-
Drilled through the face, so now I get to see if I can make ABS paste and polish the heck out of it... I still have to finish painting, sanding and install the mesh
-
OK, lets hope that this looks better.

Can't we just upload directly to the site and not need to host?
