  1. Helmet painting, would like to get some feedback at this point if you can before I finish up the interior. I think the teeth are painted all the way down Is there a preferred angle on the hovi tips? How does the black paint look (my free hand kinda sucks) Ear paint look correct?
  2. Helmet electronics installed, just a few wires left to join (and some more plasti dip). Using the hearing assist, TRAMP amp (it is very loud!), and two fans near the mouth. Time to add the mesh behind the teeth, but I want to make sure all the painting is done before I do that. Still playing around with the mic, seems I almost have to eat it to be heard.
  3. No moon cut, just removing the bottom of the return. Not an issue on the right leg as the ammo pack covers it, just wanted to make sure removing it on the left would be acceptable. Now I have removed it and the fit is great.
  4. Making adjustments to fit the legs a little better. The thigh is oval and this is causing issues around the knee, so hot water bath time and lots of trial fittings. Success, moved just enough to make it comfortable. If needed I can add a pad to the front above the knee to push it out a little.
  5. Trimming for comfort on the bottom of the thigh. OK to remove where I have the yellow line?
  6. Shins are on and feel very solid, nice not having to worry if they are lined up in the back. I am having an issue with the sniper plate Sniper plate is causing the shin to rotate Looks like I need to push the sniper plate away from the shin (maybe 1/2 inch)? It is a "special" kind of pain...
  7. Looks good, I am surprised you didn't get your neighbor Marion to help "put your pants on"
  8. Time to place the electronics, is recommended to place behind the chest with the speaker pointing towards the body? Was thinking of heat bending plastic to make a pocket for the unit to slide in.
  9. Buttons are on inside the shins. Added the tab at the top to keep the return area lined up (still need to do final trimming) Sniper knee removed from old shin and placed on the new
  10. Waiting for E6000 is like....
  11. Magnets glued to buttons with E6000
  12. The magnets and tape come off. Houston, we have a problem! Break out the pot and shape some more (thanks again to Cricket for confirming this is the way to correct). In the past the hot water method was a little scary, now not so much... Minimal pressure at the bottom Again minimal pressure
  13. Hey Eric, That was a great idea and should help with long term usage. I am going one step further and sewing the end of the elastic to stop fraying or wear/tear. Basically encapsulating the plastic. By the way, great build log!
  14. Holes cut with dremel small sander drum Used the tape to prevent sticking and cover strip is on (and more waiting...) This may be a very slow process due to the E6000, but should be worth it.
  15. This was mine, had the same struggle
  16. Inside shin strips cut and drilled Now to let the E6000 cure for a few days
  17. Went to an armor party and got lots of help from Cricket on the legs. Steve jumped in with a critical eye and we finally got the cuts to line up. Here is a shot of current state with another "aren't you short for a trooper" Just taped at this point Calves need a hot water bath to get as close as possible to reduce the strain on the closure Had to buy a 16qt pot And now the finished results. Could not have done it without cricket showing how to hot water bath as she shaped another members armor. Now I will try my hand at doing the "cricket closure" on the shins. Starting with the buttons.
  18. That is exactly my plan. Attach the fronts of thighs and shins, then line up and tape up and down to get close as possible. The fronts of my existing legs look good, just the back is the issue.
  19. New thighs (this is also the thicker version - cause why not) and shins. My goal is to better align the backs of the thighs and get a straight cut on the shins.
  20. I did get a small brown box to help
  21. Taking pictures of the back before adding the cover strips to the shins and I have a problem. I think when I cut the thighs I did not account for lining up the back strips with the center of the shins, so the left shin has a wicked leaning cut. The right is not as bad, but it could be better as well. Maybe I need to reposition the cut from the top of the thighs to more outside my thighs at the bottom? Look at the coverstrip My line where I think it should go Close up, and now you can see I am slightly bow-legged which does not help The shins are in line with the thighs, but that left shin is just too much of an angle
  22. They actually fit my shoulders very well. I did not trim, and took pictures from the front and back to make sure I covered up as much of the under-suit as possible. Make sure you don't cut until you suit up, and make sure you have your biceps on your arms.
  23. Heat gun used on the ammo belt to get it to conform to the thigh band a little better. Temporary screws in place in case anyone sees anything wrong, if good to go I will use the rivets. So the pictures are all over the place on centering the ammo pack on the ridge or off to the side. Based on gallery pictures the ends of the ammo belt go to the rear of the thigh, so using the back as the starting point I wrapped around and just had enough material. Cut off 16mm on each side. On this shot I took out the big bends and got it a little more round. Nice view when looking down I did the 6mm from the end and 10mm for the ammo belt, it all lines up now and conforms to the sides Side view with the swoop cut out (used a vegetable can as a template)
  24. Can you post a pic of your thigh ammo belt? Trying to get my head wrapped around how it is supposed to go on without major modification
