  2. Welcome to the forums! I find it's always helpful to drag a medic around wherever you go regardless of duty status. Take your time and do your research before pulling the trigger on that gun. You'll want to not only be sure you've gotten a good deal on whatever you buy but that you'll be happy with your purchase after you start working on it.
  3. As for the mic nothing comes to mind thread wise but Lorelei has perfect search advice. I'm just using a the mic with a rigid boom I got on Amazon that came with my PA speaker. That cord runs down the inside of my neck seal out the top of my shirt behind the armor so it's not seen and under the backside of my chest plate where I have one of those chest high radio holders. The cord goes into my TKTalkie (think home built versatile iComm) and then the PA speaker. There's also a small power supply to run the TKTalkie. I second the balaclava idea. Definitely helps keep everything attached to your head when you slide your bucket on. http://www.tktalkie.com/
  4. Welcome to the Forums Junos! Nice to see a Michigander on here. I ran away from there many years ago to live in the desert but I would expect to hear that Michigan would be teeming with snow troopers. Sounds like you are on the right path with all those questions. I don't think it's been mentioned yet but, also find your local garrison and get in touch with them. You might get lucky enough to meet someone with the same costume you're considering building and get some tips from them too. A lot of the costumes get hot, especially inside the helmet. There's a bit of information out there on rigging up small computer fans to help keep you cool. You can run them off of small USB battery packs like you would buy to recharge your phone. I have 2 pair that run off two switches along with a hearing aid/assist unit so I can still hear what's going on outside my bucket in fabulous stereo. Blows other troopers minds when you can hear them and there talking a few feet away.
  5. For what it's worth In 2017 I paid ANOVOS $497 for mine with no soft goods. Sent from my sorrosuub C1 comm link device using Tapatalk
  6. My Armor is ANOVOS and I've been quite pleased with it. It's the first kit I've built and while I don't have a lot of experience building several previous costumes I found my way through and like how it looks. It's going to rest in personal preference as to whether you like the look of it and there are several manufactures that you can take to expert infantry or Centurion. Like has been said before take a gander at the Expert Infantry and Centurion approval threads to look at the different makers and how the final product appears to see where your tastes are. 7. Awesome! Glad you're with us.
  8. I used photoshop to crop and adjust the picture then save it so that it was smaller than the 25Mb limitation. If you don't have photoshop you could try to use the built in windows picture tools. Click on the three dots to the right and click resize image to get it under the limit.

  13. Gmrhodes13 YOU DID IT! Thank you Glen! We will rebuild!
  14. Gmrhodes13 If you can delete that I would be happy. Especially if it fixed the attachment problem at the same time.
  15. Right!? Is there an option to delete?
  16. That's where I started. Problem is the attached pictures no longer show up and I have nothing to click unless I go to the manage attachments link. I half wonder if I can delete the entire thread and start over? It's my troop log and my history is brief, 2 whole troops so far. Sent from my sorrosuub C1 comm link device using Tapatalk
  17. When I go to my profile is this where you are mentioning to go? I know I'm getting older but I don't see the trash can. The second image is the manage attachments page and I don't see one there either. Sent from my sorrosuub C1 comm link device using Tapatalk

  19. Thanks for that, but how do I UN-bomb my storage?
  20. I was trying to add pictures to my troop log. After I submitted the post I noticed one was upside down. So, I tried again from my computer instead of tapatalk but then they disappeared and I got this warning "You have used all of the attachment space you are allowed. Manage attachments to free up space". When I click the link I can see the pictures I tried to upload but there are no actions available to take. What gives? What should I do to fix this?
  21. I've noticed while roaming the site that on other people's posts their 501'st ID number is listed between their actual name and Garrison name. On mine it does not. Is there somewhere I am supposed to go to fix that?
  22. A couple days ago I received my Basic 501st approval! A great big thanks to all who've helped me out thus far! When I started on this endeavor I felt like I was trying to swim solo across the ocean. Everyone of you has had a positive influence on the process. A few of you seemed to be checking in often to offer loads of great advice. gmrhodes13 you've provided excellent feedback and the most impressive insights in locating things on the forums. ukswrath I followed your Anovos build and greatly appreciate the encouragement. Hopefully by following it I will make an easy transition to higher levels. Had it not been for your build thread I would still be working on this thing. TKSpartan thanks for pointing me directly to the things I needed to adjust and having the ability to highlight great posts with pictures when your words weren't doing it for me! Me like pictures! justjoseph63 the detailed critique was very helpful and timely to assist in getting myself prepped for approval. Now onto the blaster. I've got my resin doopydoo kit in hand, hit up T-Jay for the extra bits to make it better than a rubber duck and started reviewing the enormous wealth of info here. With any luck I'll be able to have a moment or two to work on it despite all the holiday, family, and work hub bub to be able to qualify EIB then Centurion in short order. TK41469 signing off!
  23. Thank you for the review JustJoseph, I really appreciate it. I think I need to give that calf a bath if I'm going to correct the symmetry problem there. Seems no matter what I do it defaults to that position when closed. The belt had popped off it's snap and I really wanted pictures so I just let it be after fighting with it a while. Seems I may have been a millimeter off when I put the snap in the belt and it comes unsnapped easily. Thinking I've seen some folks add a little velcro under there to assist in keeping the belt in place. As for EIB I still need to assemble a blaster that's in a box. Planning an easy build to get a grasp of it then trying a second build to make a more realistic one.
  24. Thanks JustJoseph63 I appreciate your suggestions. The thigh photo I just posted is after I removed the back cover strip and trimmed the thighs down. I am thinking I will probably take off some more of that return edge around the top but they fit much better now. Here is a more recent photo. Please tell me what you think. My new concern is that my butt plate seems wider than my derriere and hangs out a little. Still scratching my head on whether to just eat more to correct that or something else. Pretty sure the Dr. will tell me the latter.
  25. Here's the end result of the backs of the thighs. I think they turned out pretty well. Sent from my sorrosuub C1 comm link device using Tapatalk
