  1. Happy bday bro!! I wished you a happy Bday on Facebook... if that helps! LOL!!! And all that armor looks awesome! Saludos.
  2. "Stormtroopers?" -C3PO before he was shot in ESB Saludos
  3. I have this same question for some time and never actually made the research. My guess is they did not. Saludos.
  4. Have you gotten ride of the whole return edge on the wrist side of the arms? Also, how long are his arms? Weird question huh? But is they are regular to shorter, you could cut off a bit of the edge of the arm too and make them open wider... Ayway, the arm sgould have no return edges on the wrist end. If thy wont feet anyway, i would make the "front" strips a bit wider, but not much, and get a bit more room from the back strips. Just an idea. Saludos.
  5. THX for your kind words! I have worked on the eyebrow and moved it up to make it look more like the Dave M helmet. I also have added some detailing on it, but since these are iPhone picts, they can't be seen. I will get some better pictures taken in better light and background soon. In the meanwhile... here it is. WHat do you think? Saludos
  6. 2mm??? LOL!! I have many different styrenes at home, will just find the right one. But thought about the 3mm cause it is sturdy enough to hold the scope and counter. Maybe I will go to the home depot and look for other materials. Thinking about aluminum. I will be starting my doopydoos pipe E11 as soon as my pipe arrives! Got a 40mm pipe from dashrazor. Saludos.
  7. I plan to do mine on 3mm styrene. Cut, bend and fit... Do you think that would work? Saludos.
  8. THX a lot bro. Now I need to finish with the chipping and add some details as the yellow and red stains. Also, some rubber skid marks. Then, interior aging, adding the definite lenses and wearing off of black and gray painted details. I am very happy with this project and happy to have such good comments! Saludos
  9. Yeah!! I dont mind it being too hot. I could at least try it on one troop and then decide if I keep it for display/super canon events or wear it on a daily basis to work LOL!! I mean, I was told that rubber gloves was a no go for trooping in hot Mexico. But since I got them like 1 and a half year ago, I only use my rubber gloves. Accuracy guy over here! I am really excited and looking forward to this! Saludoa
  10. Congrats bro... You have taken the first step into a larger world! Your armor looks awesome BTW. Saludos.
  11. 16" Can I sign up for 1 neckseal!! Saludos.
  12. This is my research on Hero neck seals... Will do something similar with the stunt... Hope it helps... Saludos
  13. Thx bro! Will be posting some pictures of the finished helmet soon. saludos.
  14. 12 ribs sounds right. About the shape, it looks to me like it is just cilindrical and the shape is given by how it is wear. Meaning it can get broader on the middle cause it is where less tension as in the picture of the two guys, looking at the one on the left. Or, looking at the one on the right, it gets broader at the top cause he has it opened because of the head. DOes this makes sense??? Me, personally, would like it a bit loose, but not too much or the helmet wont fit right. Saludos
  15. Hope this helps. I am really interested in having a new accurate stunt neckseal... This is what I have... Hope this help. Saludos
  16. OK... here is some more progress I wanted to share with you. Still not done 100% but you can already see the face of the Set for Stun helmet showing around the corner... What do you think? Saludos
  17. Honestly, I don't know if this is the right thread to post this, but... if it is not please move it to the proper place! So... A few months ago I got a Cap kit with the idea of building a replica helmet of the Dave M or Set for Stun bucket. So... this is it. Almost. I took some ideas from a tutorial I found and kept some time ago by Boba Maker. Only after the work was advanced I realized, thanks to Rolf, that the tutorial might not have been the best tool to follow. This cause I gave the helmet a hand painted texture by applying a sloppy coat of acrylic paint between the green HDPE like coat, and the white one. I think it gives the helmet some sort of an edge, and it kindof gives it the texture seen on the cap and back of the original helmet. The thing is that, as Rolf pointed out over the MEPD, as I over did it, it does not look very accurate. Anyway, as some ANH buckets have some sort of brushed like texture going horizontally, specially on the back, I guess it is not THAT bad. Cut, trimmed and assembled to look like the Dave M helmet (as much as possible), I finished it with handpainted details, and will add cracks, bumps, paint leaks, and even some mods to the pull that maybe you can notice. I also finished the interior trying to replicate the look of ANH helmets, with green, red and white paint, leaf foam, elastic and all... This is how it looks atm. Still will mod some parts and detail more some others. What do you think? Saludos
  18. Interesting... Brendan, you started this topic with a comparison of an ATA with SiMan helmets. This is crazy if you ask me (or anyone I guess). ATA is a third generation Bucket (good but "affordable"), the SiMan "kit" is a second and the real bucket is a screen used prop. No wonder the traps and bumps and all are different. Also, as stated, there was no real quality standard in SW production props. It was more of lets make this look good enough the fastest we can. So different props and costumes will look different no matter what. And finally, it has been said here that the TE or whatever second and third generation helmet moulds were taken from the inside of a screen used helmet, therefore the bumps... but then, claimed that the bumps are actually from bad paintjobs... Something not matching there. Paint is on the outside, moulds on the inside... :S Looks to me that you are trying to set a rule or dis other makers or moulds based just on the pictures you saw at the LSD... But man, I have seen some high res pictures of some screen used buckets whose bumps looks exactly like my Gino V2. So... What I am saying is that, you can't set a rule of thumb for what is and what is not accurate based on the pictures or even discussions on one single helmet. Much less on the reproduction of that helmet. There are many different screen used buckets with different degree of bumpyness, paintjobs, detaling and pull. Same for replicas and kits. This is all in with the best intention... Don't mean to start a war here. Just wanted to point out what I see... As Paul TM wrote in some other thread, if you copy a fan made prop, you will end up with a copy of a fan made copy. So I say we should base our examples and discussion about real screen used props, on real screen used props. Not on its replicas and copies. Saludos Juan
  19. Congrats! Quartermaster packs are awesome and he really puts a lot of work on them to make sure they are the best! Saludos
  20. Yeah... Don't want to keep feeding the fire here. I could agree with what most have said in one or other way. It is all mater of from which point of view we see thing. Damn Obi Wan, he was so right. I would just add this so we don't make the mistake to thing we (anyone) hold the whole truth... Hasbro E11 = hasbro blaster + guled on parts (not accurate) Pipe E11 = pipe + glued on parts (can be made to be more accurate) Deactivated Sterling = Real Sterling SMG + real parts (can be made to be the most accurate-ish) Real prop used in production and in great shape = 100% accurate Even the best kit can go through a crappy build and that wont make it accurate. Thats it from me. And that is my opinion. And, to answer the original question and go back on topic: Yes, it is still allowed, only not for Centurion program. Saludos
  21. Hey bro... Just by reading your opinions and seeing you are Centurion, I know right away that we have more ideas in common than different. Pls, that my word for that. I personally think that a Hasbro blaster right off the box is not the weapon one should have in the Legion. But there is a big "should" there. I tend to think that going accurate is the only way to go. Every single day I think of new mods to my armor, and dream of getting newer more accurate gear. Reality is that not everyone think like that. And also that not everyone can afford to do it, not only talking about money, but also about county regulations, time and skills. And also, reality is that this Club is WAY bigger than the FISD or the MEPD. People in these detachments have in common the bug of accuracy. And work very hard to be more accurate with better gear and all. But we are a minority. Sad but true. So, I am trying to make explain that yes, hasbro should not be allowed for the increasingly high standards of the detachments, but we should not forget why it is still (and will for some time) accepted by Legion standards. And no bro, I don't think that an off the box hasbro is professional standard since a kid can have that too. But a well modified hasbro blaster can make to look really good, and that, IMHO, should not be disregarded just like that. Anyway, as I said before, I am not applying for SWAT over the MEPD cause my modded hasbro it is not up to standard. And, funny enough, I was the one who said we should not allow it to pair up with the FISD Centurion program. No hard feeling bro. Just enjoying a healthy discussion!! Cheer bro! Saludos Juan
  22. Yeah, I can see that down to basics, one of the requirements to be 501st is to have a professional quality costume. Granted. But then, and I am not defending hasbros or think they should be allowed forever, there will always be a whole spectrum on that professional-quality claim. Who can tell that my: mod FX with TE2 bucket + modified pauldron + modified hasbro + leather search gloves + scratch built pack + white look alike boots (not mariachi by the way) is less or more professional than my: TE2 + Trooper1 pauldron + super modified hasbro + rubber chemical gloves with latex hand guards + Kit pack + TKboots I mean... there is much more and more evident stuff to make a costume professional quality than a simple toy gun. As I see it, almost any thing can be made look decent with the proper mods, work and commitment. Yes, it will be decent and not ubber accurate. But as I see it, and anyone that knows me know I go the extra mile in all my builds, there is room in the Legion for the pretty good professional-quality and the ubber accurate prop forgery. What to aim for, well, that is a personal choice as long as it fulfill legion standards. And sorry, but having worked in my armor and same character for 5 years straight, I don't feel weird of funny telling new guys to try to go all the way and be as accurate as they can, or understand that sometimes it can't be done and then pointing them into a "decent" option. The Legion requirements ask for professional quality, not screen accuracy. I know I am not to take that literally, but it says a lot about what the legion aims for in its costuming standards, either we like it or not... my thoughts. Saludos PS. anyway, as has been stated, non of our armors is 100% screen accurate other than the looks (inside and outside), since it was not made in 1976 or used for production.
  23. Oh, and something I wanted to say. 501st, EIB, Centurion... all those are different standards for different people. I mean, not everyone will go for EIB, and even less for Centurion. But that doesn't mean they can not be 501st. The mission of detachments is to improve and raise the level of portrayal of their specific characters. Also, it s their duty to help and encourage members to go further with accuracy through investigation, discussion, sharing and, yes, programs as Centurion. Even if I do think FX and hasbros should be left out from 501st standards, I can not see that happening soon if ever. Mainly because it is an affordable or easy or sometimes seldom way for new ppl to join the club. This is a club for everyone, but also, we have programs and initiatives for everyone. Including those who want to be ubber accurate and even wear afros an tube socks as in the 76 (TD joke ). So if anyone want to go for Centurion, then get an accurate E11. If they decide to stay with a Hasbro, then, they are deciding to stay with EIB or just 501st. That simple... Free, fair and open for everyone to chose. MHO Saludos
  24. I dont have a TK, but I try to be as accurate as possible with my TD. I would love to have an accurate E11 for it, trooping, displaying or taking pictures. There is no way a hasbro can look really accurate even if going under a lot of mods... starting with the diameter of the barrel. This is my hasbro mod E11. Looks way better than off-shelf hasbros, but it is not accurate. But, as in other countries, importing weapon parts (deactivated) or toy weapons and parts could give me a lot of troubles with customs and police. Since even little cowboy toy guns are either prohibited or frowned by police and law enforcement. So, for the moment, I am stuck with this. That is one of the reasons I can not go SWAT over the MEPD (I could see that same problem if I ever tried to go EIB and Centurion) Anyway, I guess there will always be room for hasbros in the 501st. It is an easy, affordable way to have a blaster. Not like FX helmet which just looks bad.
