  1. That's the plan, trying to get it to a larger mesh than what's currently on the tips for screen accuracy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Oops, without some frame of reference my last question was useless! Here's a better look, I cut the screen out of a flour sifter and that's what I'm planning to use to replace the current screens. (Thanks Taylor for that idea!) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I'm thinking this mesh will do the trick for the mic tips. Am I right? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. These are amazing! As I say with almost every merchandise run, just take my money! [emoji16] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Thank you for the great feedback and it's an honor to be considered Expert Infantry!! This was my first armor build and I spent a lot of time at my workbench with my iPad propped up open to Tony's (ukswrath) Anovos TK build thread, following along and trying to do exactly what he did. I truly couldn't have built this without the help from troopers on this board and in my squad. The suggestions you have for Centurion look fairly easy so I will get on those as soon as possible and will then submit for Centurion. See you guys on that request form soon, I want to make sure I'm looking as good as possible before Celebration!
  6. Thanks for all the kudos so far everyone! I've been wearing the armor for about 7 months now and have been very happy with it. I was working to shed a few pounds though before submitting for EIB and Centurion so I could avoid the shims. Mission accomplished on that!

  8. I was checking my 501st profile and noticed that my FISD detachment affiliation was marked as 'pending'. Is this the right place to have that updated, I've been a TK since last May? Thanks! http://new.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=18732
  9. Definitely be there for the photo! May have to be a quick change artist if IOC photo shoot is close to the same time. [emoji1] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. So here's an update since my visit to Jo-Anne's. I found this black permanent fabric marker: Here's the result. The target remains, but I think it's much better and should work for me. I don't think it's overly noticeable now unless you're looking for it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. They should have built the Death Star out of the same material used for UA logos! Anyway, going to try some black fabric paint and will post the results. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Here's an update on my efforts to remove that UA logo. Here's the before: Nail polish remover and goo gone had no effect at all. I bought some acetone at HD and that removed the silver reflective coating but the logo is still visible: So I used a sharpie on that and here's what I've got so far: So I get the feeling short of covering it up with maybe a black patch of fabric, there's no way to completely remove it. 13. If you're just looking for some foam strips to hold things in place better, self adhesive foam weatherstripping works great. I have it in my forearms and thighs and it works great. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Just wondering this same thing myself as I'm retiring the ANOVOS undersuit, just too much color bleed. I've got a great UA top but that logo on the back sits right above the armor. I tried the sharpie but you still see it so I think I'll try the acetone next. Would fingernail polish remover with acetone do the trick for that? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. A question about the hovi tips Tony. You mention in the thread that the modification is not required for any level of approval. One of our squad TK's with the Anovos kit told me he was required to change it for Centurion approval. I just want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding something either from him or the thread. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. A question on the D-ring. I notice the one available from Trooperbay isn't actually D shaped, more of a squashed oval. I can buy an actual D ring from Home Depot for less than a dollar but is that ok? Does it need to be that oval shape? If so I suppose I can take the pliers to it and force it into the shape. 17. Hi Will, same as Kalani's question, do you have the link to the telescope you bought? I'm looking to dress up my Hyperfirm a bit as well. Have you done any mods to the counter yet, like adding a decal for the numbers? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Got back from vacation today to find my shirt waiting for me. Looks outstanding Joseph! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  20. For Basic you're fine with a gap there, not a problem for approval. For EIB, it needs to be no more than a 1/2", for Centurion there can be no gap at all. For me if I suck it in and pull the belt extra tight, I'm still looking at maybe an inch or so on each side. For now I'm going with the 'lose a little weight' approach to get to EIB and then Centurion. Hopefully I can do that vs. adding shims! As for what I used, I went with black elastic strapping there vs. nylon to allow for some 'give'. Hope that helps!
  21. Thank you everyone for all the help on this build, I couldn't have done it without you! Hopefully if other armor newbies stumble across this build thread, they will find it helpful to them as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. In the better late than never category, I just wanted to come back and say thank you for this build thread Tony. I literally would not be TK-82666 now if it wasn't for all of the help and knowledge that you provided here!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  24. I've heard through the grapevine that I'm approved, but I'm going to an armor party on Sunday just to get a good once over on things from folks. I did pull up the biceps further into the shoulder bells (the attachment method there was velcro so easy adjustment). That made a big difference on where my forearms land. I'm still not 100% sure if I can get away without trimming them some, will have to troop a couple of times and see how it looks and feels. Same goes for the thighs, foam may fix the left one or I may need to trim just a bit. My first TK troop will be on June 3 at my daughter's school, so my goal for that is to not do a faceplant or step on any small children. Keeping it simple for now!
  25. You've got a good eye Kalani and thanks for the input! Our GML asked me last week to resend the front facing picture because the left thigh was twisted inward. That's why it looks ok on the first pic (the new photo) but twisted on the last one where my bucket is off. He didn't indicate any other changes to be made for approval so I don't know if there's anything else I'm required to do right now. I'm waiting until later in the week before I try to pester him about it. Like you said I feel I do need to do something about the forearms and left thigh. The arms are a bit long and I really notice it when I struggle to put on and take off the helmet. Cutting them one bump up could resolve that for me. As for the left thigh, I may need to open it up in the back and maybe trim off an inch, it feels too loose. I'm going to an armor party on Sunday where I plan to suit up and get some in person advice before I start cutting anything. I will definitely go with making adjustments and adding foam before breaking out the cutting tools again! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
