  1. would it be considered 'jumping' the gun if i were to paint my old British army rank onto my ears. i left the army in the year 2000 as an Infantry Corporal...ie: 2 stripes or should i start at the bottom as a 'recruit'
  2. thanks for the replies folks....problem sorted and re-attached in the 'correct position'
  3. having taken my kit apart for slight mods, i've hit a snag, everytime i see a set of armour, whether it be a 'screen accurate or a trooping set' the positon of the drop boxes seem to change from picture to picture, what is position of the screen accurate drop boxes? at what point do they attach to the ammo belt?......are they in-line with the edges of the 'square' sections at the edges of the belt? can anybody provide a few pictures of a screen accurate..or fully cleared ammo belt so i can clear up this slight prob and get them attached in the correct position many thanks guys
  4. i had exactly the same problem with my MR lid, and after trying no end of solutions, contacts, replacing the lenses with prescription ones, goggles , i eventually ended up having corrective laser surgery...no more glasses for me. expensive but works a treat...i say expensive , but if you work out the cost of a pair of glasses every year for twenty years plus, you soon find out that corrective surgery is as cheap as chips....(about four thousand pounds).

  6. i'm kinda hoping that this film ..like so many other re-makes...won't try to re-write history, as long as Peter jackson sticks to the well documented accounts of the raid then his film will not only prove to be entertaining, but will also pay a long overdue tribute to the crews of the eight Lancaster bombers (..53 airmen..) that didn't come back after the raid.
  7. many thanks Nate, i'm having a cracking festive season buddy, nearly ready for trooping, just a couple of small items to deal with and then it's clearance time. woo hoo! all the best for the New Year mate...(and to all at FISD)...who needs snow on christmas day when it's gonna be a 'white New Year' for most of us.
  8. Brent, you could also use painters and decorators masking tape..(the professional stuff)..if memory serves it's blue in colour, and will provide you with a perfect straight edge finish, or like smitty says you can just hand paing them, (as most of the original helmets were hand painted, they wouldn't have had perfectly straight lines anyway, so i little 'uneveness' would add to the helmet looking authentic
  9. yes mate.it's perfectly o.k. most troopers buy this to begin with and mod it up, it only needs minimal mods for it pass 'clearence', drop a line to 'heatshock' for details on his MRCE mod...he did a cracking job..(tell him langy sent ya..lol)
  10. i'm getting just as bad.. i currently own three TK lids, 2 full sets of FX armour, and various other bits and bobs to do with 'stormtrooper armour' ..and still looking.
  11. granted, with the help of you kind folks here i'm sure it can be 'converted' into a nice looking set of ROTJ armour, but you gotta admit , the way it is fitted onto this chap looks..well..wrong....(even his thigh pieces have fallen out with the abs plate.) as it is it unfortunately looks like ..an expensive costume... nothing more nothing less. (so lets get these folks on here who already have this armour ...up to scratch eh fellas.?)
  12. Terry, this picture was taken at the recent 'comic con' at the docklands excel, (did you manage to get to it mate?) i can remember seeing this chap having his photo taken. (also later on in the day..we saw some poor chap..(could of been the same bloke)... wearing rubies getting 'glomped'..(a running jump followed by a hug)..to which his helmet parted company with his head, hit the deck and resulted in a HUGE crack right across the side of the dome, from front to rear..(to be honest there would be no way to repair this cause it was HUGE!!!)...i felt kinda of sorry for the chap...he was devastated.
  13. dude, welcome to the world of white armour, as for the mods needed on a MRCE bucket you could do no worse than drop a p.m. to 'heatshock', he's done a spectacular re-build of the MRCE.
  14. The last time i had this was at hobbycraft in Nottingham, I was asking for sheets of 1 inch thick foam, The customer service operative (or shelf stacker) asked me what i wanted it for, My reply was 'to pad out the helmet on my stormtrooper armour', No way was the reply, We then spent nearly twenty minutes discussing stormtrooper armour, (turns out they were a huge fan of star wars, and had seriously wanted a set of armour for years, I scribbled down this website, and UKG,) i left the shop knowing that we'd be seeing another new member on the boards shortly
  15. billy. you and me both matey, ya can't beat thrashing hell out of bits of metal..
