Using Plasti Dip for the interior
justjoseph63 replied to TK852's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Wow, it helps to read all the different forums! I was thinking of doing this exact same thing with the plasti-dip. PERFECT info. THANKS! -
Thanks for the info.! The only reason I asked is that my last order from them only took 8 days. I have read on here that some of their packages have a). Not arrived at all, or . arrived in bad shape and/or missing pieces. Patience is a virtue, I suppose

Hi again! I was not sure which forum to post this to, but I was hoping for some input on Doopydoos. I ordered the E 11 kit a while back, and it was "dispatched on Dec. 22nd. 19 days ago. Is this unusual? They don't give a tracking number, so it makes it kind of difficult. Thanks for any information! Joseph

E 11 power cylinder area... Help!
justjoseph63 replied to justjoseph63's topic in General Weapons Discussion
PERFECT information, and exactly what I needed! PlayFulWolfCub's build is phenomenal, and that is the main one I am working from. I did not realize that there were transistors(?) beneath the back. Any idea of the size/type those are? Thanks again, you guys ROCK! Joseph -
Hi! I am about to embark on my DD build, and have done loads of research, but I have a huge question if I may.... Let me preface it by adding that all the build I have looked at are GREAT, but the main difference seems to be the power cylinder area. Some have the curly wires, some have no wires, some have cloth coated wires, et al. I intend on doing a serious mod, but want to do it the "right", (canon) way, in hopes of Centurion status way down the road. (I am going for ANH stunt if this helps). I haven't even received the kit yet, but have made about 10 custom pieces already and taken 27 pages of notes. This is going to be a long haul, but should be fun and well worth the effort! Any and all information (especially pics) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!! Joseph

Thanks for the help!!! Just PM'd Tino. Have a GREAT new year!!!!!!

Hi! I am hoping someone can help me in my search for about 4 inches of the cloth coated wire shown in the lower right photo. My apologies for not giving credit to the photographer, but I have downloaded about 120 reference photos for my build, and cannot remember exactly whose thread they came from. (AWESOME build, though)! Thanks so much!

Hi! Just watched ANH again, and noticed that one of the TKs was wearing what looked to be like a comlink with a 5x5 (?) white box instead of a thermal detonator, and thought it might be an alternative. (Dare to be different)! Still waiting on my the armor itself, but have everything else in place. I know to get certified that I must have the TD, but was thinking this might be something different to wear occasionally. Also thinking about making PVC wrist cuffs/holster, but was wondering what the protocol was for that. Thanks again for all the past and future advice!

Hi all! I am looking for the 5/16 split rivets for ANH TK armor. It says that they need to have a rounded head, and the only ones I have been able to find do not. I did find a seller online, but they only sell in packs of 100, WAY more than I need! Does anyone know where I can buy a 10 or so? THANKS!

ANH kidney armor question...
justjoseph63 replied to justjoseph63's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
You guys ROCK! Thanks SOOO much! You are both great examples of "Troopers helping (future) Troopers"! -
Hi yet again, and thanks for bearing with me in this endeavor. I just ordered some AM armor, and would like to eventually get to Centurion level, but it states in the specs that "AM chest plates must be upgraded to a more screen accurate version". I would be interested in anyone's thoughts on this, and perhaps a reputable supplier. THANKS! Joseph
-
Hi all! In looking through the ANH specs, (level 3), I read that there needs to be ""Squared cut out sections at the lower left and right corners" of the kidney armor. I have searched for visual references and posts, but can't seem to find anything. Is there someone who could perhaps post a pic for me? Thanks in advance, Joseph

Hi all! I am in search of 3 bump ear bars for my future ANH hero build. I ordered quality armor, but it is on backorder and has the 4 bar style. I'm going to take my time, but am aiming straight for level 3, which requires that particular item. Have been learning how to rivet, glue, trim, file, paint, etc. on the "garbage" armor I made the mistake of buying, so with the tutorials on here, and an occasional armor party, it should turn out well. I did do a search in this forum, as well as the things for sale, but nothing turned up. Thanks in advance!!

3 peice helmet vs. 2 piece...
justjoseph63 replied to justjoseph63's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I am pretty much average size, 5' 10, 155. I see that some of you mentioned troopermaster, but I ordered my armor from troopergear. I am assuming that he is reputable, as he is listed as a vetted seller on here. Does anyone have any comments, tips or suggestions for this gear or build out? It comes pre-trimmed, but I am sure there will be alterations. He told me the next run of armor will be later this month, so I have the time to buy all the other stuff I will need. cm3251 mentioned that there was some sort of ABS paste to eliminate the seam in the helmet. Anyone know where I could locate that subject on here? Thanks again, you guys rock! -
3 peice helmet vs. 2 piece...
justjoseph63 replied to justjoseph63's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Thanks for all your help!!!! So, I am safe in assuming that this supplier, (TR-----G--R) , is safe to order from. -
Hi again, all! Well, I took your advice, and checked out several sellers on the "vetted" list. One of them, (TR-----G--R) got back to me lightning fast, and the armor looks good, and it is obvious that he takes a lot of pride in it's construction. However, I noticed that the helmet is in 3 pieces, (front/dome/back). Will this be a problem getting 501st approval? I have looked at literally hundreds of reference photos, and they are either 2 piece, or too blurry to tell. I can forward the email he sent, which has a breakdown/description of the entire kit with pics, or post it online here, if that is allowed. (I don't want to break any rules)!!!!! I read on here that one should "check with the experts before a purchase", which is what I am doing. I am also posting this question on the Tampa Bay/Makaze site, and would appreciate any and all info. Thanks again for bearing with me in this endeavor!!!!

Newb armor mistake.....
justjoseph63 replied to justjoseph63's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Thanks for the wise advice! I think I am going to do both, actually... I am still going to build it, and then sell it (just the armor) on ebay. That way I can still get the building experience, and save someone who is just looking for a "Halloween costume" the trouble. Will start my new armor search today! Again, I appreciate your help!!!! -
Hi yet again... First, the "condensed" story.. Saw ROTJ armor on ebay, "501st approved", (Not sure what that meant at the time).. Bought it. BIG mistake. Come to find out is not ROTJ, but ANH. Helmet is too large and belt is wrong for 501st approval, among other things.. My apologies, but I did not even know about the 501st until after I ordered it. Read up the 501st, and decided that I REALLY wanted to join. But, here I am stuck with this, uh.. (what is that French phrase)? " Piece of cr@p". So, I have decided to do the build anyway, and use it as a learning tool for when I get a proper set of armor. I realize now that I will have to spend well over a grand for this. I did order the correct canvas belt, Hovi-mic tips, body suit, neck seal, boots, gloves, etc. from sources I found on here, but I now need a connection for the armor/helmet. Any and all help would be incredibly appreciated! Thanks... Joseph
