  1. Good call! And, in his "neck of the woods", so to speak!
  2. Try the thread "The various types of armor, and where to find them"...
  3. Hi Aleski! I would HIGHLY recommend going to the "Getting Started" forum on the main page. They have a list of "vetted" (reputable) armor makers, and a list of ones to steer clear of. Do a LOT of research before you commit to buy anything, avoid ebay, and if you have questions, ask them on here. Half the fun of this whole thing is assembling your TK armor yourself, and there are thousands of reference pictures and tuorials to help you. I wish you the best of luck!!
  4. Good call, Chris! I forgot that I bought my Hasbro upgrade on the 'bay (before I bought the full kit from their site). Funny thing is, it took only 9 days to get here when I used ebay.
  5. I was thinking the same thing, Rafe, but apparently there are a lot of people doing it, and so far no negative comments. (Plus, it just looks cool)! I think I am going to start with a layer of white Plasti-dip after sanding, and then go to the black. I would suggest taping off everything you don't want coated, (frown holes, eyes, etc.). I am also going to be adding electronics, so I will need to tape off the area where they will be attached, then, let it air out for a week or so. I am guessing that trooping with a massive headache or hallucinations from the fumes would ruin a perfectly good day.
  6. PERFECT! Thanks so much, Tim, I appreciate this!
  7. Hi! I was wondering if someone who owns a recent set of AM 2.0 armor could post a photo or 2 of the chest plate for some research I am doing. Thanks!
  8. I found that apparently they sell out quickly, but there is an area where the price is that you can sign up for notification. Just know that their "notification" is simply an email from them with no content, which you will need to respond to immediately by going BACK on the site and ordering it. (I waited a day, and they were sold out again). Also, be prepared to hurry up and wait. It took 30 days for mine to get here to FL., and they aren't big on communicating. Well worth the price, though. If you are planning on modding it, you can check out some of the fantastic builds on here, and get everything ready for when it arrives, as I did. (Recommended). Hope you have a great time building it, and best of luck!
  9. I should have known! However, I have a strange feeling you are going to do it "properly"...
  10. Hey Tim! I ordered one of these, and I agree that the glove is no place for the board. I know you are planning to extend the wires for the board, but will you be posting a thread on how to do this? I am a little, shall we say, "electronically challenged", but I can follow directions well, as long as there are photos. Thanks again!
  11. Also, don't forget why we do this whole thing.... It is not for ourselves... Although I have yet to get my official TK number, I look forward to the smiles, the laughs, and hopefully making someone who really needs it forget reality for a moment, and revel in the fact that they met a "Real Stormtrooper". They may never know my name, but that matters not. Smiles count more than money ever could.
  12. As a newb who would like to put in his (albeit humble) two cents worth, I would follow gazmosis' advice. I think that half the fun of getting your TK number is doing the build yourself, and getting the self satisfaction of a "job-well-done". There is MORE than sufficient information on this site to do so, and if you should run into any questions or problems, there is always someone here to lend a guiding hand. For instance, I am still waiting on my armor, but I have completed my blaster in the mean-time, and, I now have 99% of all the supplies I need to "Get my kit together". Take your time, ask questions, and the very best of luck to you!
  13. A big THANK YOU to all of you! My queries have been answered!
  14. Yet another newb question... It has been suggested that when I glue my snaps/elastic to my armor that I do NOT glue it directly to the armor itself, but that I attach it to a small piece of ABS, and then glue it on. Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks!
  15. I have a strange question, if I may... Are these sorts of details supposed to keep you up at night, as they do me? I swear that when I go to bed, my mind races for at least 30 minutes wondering about all these details, and I haven't even received my armor yet! I am one who likes to be completely prepared, but these things haunt me, lol. Does the Empire medical plan offer counseling?
  16. Just wanted to say a big "Congrats" on your Centurion level, and for all the help on my upcoming build! Now I really have something to strive for...
  17. I think perhaps you were a Stormtrooper in a previous life, Tim. "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away". Keep up the great work!
  18. Thanks for the info! I am assuming that the hole in the ABS does not go all the way through. And, is it a big pain to attach the center snap?
  19. Good Heavens, yet more confusion! I have been (honestly) searching for the most recommended method of securing the backs of shins and wrists. AM armor no longer uses the overlap method, and has gone to the butt/cover method (thankfully). I am thinking that the sew-on snap hook method would work better, as Velcro can wear out and have to be replaced, and they could be replaced easier. Is there a thread that shows exactly how these attach, and where. Detailed photos would be awesome. As always, thanks for bearing with me!
  20. Hola! I just realized that all that I am missing for my upcoming ANH stunt build are the "2 male snaps" for the butt plate. I could not find these at Lowe's, (unless I was looking in the wrong place). Would someone be so kind as to post the size these have to be, any sources, proper name, and installation tips? I appreciate it!
  21. Hi Oliver, I would take Rowan's advice and order from Doopydoos. Be prepared to wait a month or so for it, but well worth the investment. You can mod it as much as you want within the guidelines, (I went all-out on mine). Check out Dark CMF or BULLDOG44's E-11 build tutorials, as well as many more fantastic ones on here. I would suggest reading them, and getting everything together while you wait for it, and that way it goes together pretty quickly. Best of luck!
  22. Thanks, Jay, just what I needed to know!
  23. Hi again! I have searched for a while, and cannot seem to find the dimensions, (length/diameter, flat or Philips head)) for the ear screws for my upcoming ANH stunt build. Can anyone help me out? THANKS! Joseph
  24. Hey Tim, THANKS for the post/video! My order is going out tonight!
  25. I have ordered ears from ATA, and they got here pretty quickly. They rum about $23.00 with shipping. Not sure if the color would match, though.
