Good thing you posted this, Paul. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is, and that is certainly the case here. There are a few ebay sellers, including rattlehead, etc., that say their armor is "501st approvable", but this one is certainly not.. I would highly suggest sticking with the vetted sellers here on FISD under the "Getting Started..." section.

I actually purchased a set of this armor, Vern, before I "saw the light". I put the kit together, including the bucket, and the thing that stood out most was the fact that the helmet was damned near as wide as the chest. It looked like a bobble-head, and was actually laughable at how wide it was. I briefly considered making it into a koi pond, but thought that the koi might be embarrassed to be seen in it.

Run..., run as fast as you can from this seller. A complete waste of money, unless you are looking for a crappy Halloween costume with a helmet that could fit Frankenstein's monster, with room to spare. Check out the "Getting Started..." section here on the FISD, and research "The various types of armor, and where to buy them".. Steer clear of anything on ebay, no matter what they say about 501st approval.

Hello from east Texas
justjoseph63 replied to Felixnshelley's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Hi, Felix, and welcome to the home of white armor! You have taken the biggest step, and now it is just a waiting game for "Big Brown Box" day! From what I have read, it will be later this year before they start shipping, so by the time it arrives you should be well versed in all the basics. I am sure that there will be a LOT of build threads popping up around the same time, so that will certainly give you lots of references to help you out. I am thinking that you know by now to "be prepared" for when you get it, and a big part of that is to stay organized. Have your supplies ready and on-hand when you need them, research, stay focused, and ask questions, but most of all.... have FUN with it! Best of luck on your TK journey, sir! -
Received my hyperfirm T-21 recently, and was struggling to find something to use for the tubing on the barrel. Then, I was at Advanced Auto parts, and saw black rubber windshield washer tubing by the foot. PERFECT! It also worked for the piece that extends from the ones that cover the base of the barrel. I just cut it into lengths to fit around the barrel, and super-glued it on. Yes, there are joins at the bottom, but who ever looks there? The greeblies in the pic I also made, as well as the rear sight... took me just about an hour or two. If you need any more info., just PM me.

I had the same exact thing happen, Brian. Like Mathias said, I trimmed back the return edge, and I also glue a 1/2 in by 1 inch piece of ABS on the inside, right behind the crack. No problems since!

Have you looked into AM 2.0?

WOW! Great job, Russell!!! You have obviously paid a lot of attention to detail, sir! If I could make a few suggestions, I would post close-up photos of your thigh ammo pack, showing the rivets, and also one of your sniper knee plate/calf connection. I think you have this nailed, though.. BTW, fantastic paint work on your bucket and ab buttons!

Welcome to the FISD, Steve! To be honest, you can spend a small fortune on your TK build if you are not careful, or, you can shop wisely and get things at a pretty good price. For instance... You can opt for a Hasbro blaster, and mod it with an add-on kit, (acceptable for basic approval), or go all the way and order a full resin kit, (upwards of $100.00). The AM 2.0 armor sells at a pretty good price, which leaves you a bit of wiggle room to purchase the supplies you will need to put it together. Under-suits and gloves can be purchased on ebay, (just DON"T get your armor there). For boots, you can go for TKboots.com or Imperialboots.com, as well as a few others. Other "soft parts" (neck-seal, holster, etc.) are available from some great sellers here on FISD, and are fully approvable. Hope this helps, and best of luck on your TK journey!

Turned out GREAT, Greg! I got to thinking about something a few weeks ago... I realized that although my HWT armor is "battle scarred" to a degree, my pack looked like new. So, I "weathered" it a bit, and I find it blends in much better with the whole look. Just a thought...

Hard lens installation idea....
justjoseph63 replied to justjoseph63's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
No constant pressure needed, Darren. You just stick it on, attach the lenses, and let it dry. I would recommend putting it face down while it dries, though. -
HFx productions makes AWESOME hyperfirm weapons... I have their DLT-19 and T-21, and could not be more pleased. You can also get in touch with them on here, just search Slavefive under members.

Bat Trooper possibly in the works
justjoseph63 replied to RichTrooper's topic in Non Star Wars Costuming
The gauntlets look AWESOME!!!! Another thought... Since Batman always has a buckle on his utility belt, maybe you could make one with a TK helmet in the center, and the Batman wings on the side. Damn, I can't wait to see this complete! -
Good call, David, I simply was not paying attention to which forum it was. And yes, that is a pic from my ANH build.
