My AM 2.0 ANH Stunt Build
justjoseph63 replied to TakoTuesday's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
It depends on what type of glue you used, Ryan. If you used E-6000, you can do what I did and use a razor knife to slowly remove them. If you used CA (super) glue, you can SLOWLY and CAREFULLY grind them down to an acceptable level using a Dremel tool with the sanding drum attachment, then attach the nylon right over them. You will thank yourself for buying the soldering iron tool... it works great for making holes and sealing the edges of the nylon. On a side note, have you attached all the inner cover strips? The reason I ask is that the edges look pretty sharp on some of them, and this can lead to them tearing or getting caught on your under suit. I suggest sanding the heck out of the edges with 200+ grit sandpaper. -
My AM 2.0 ANH Stunt Build
justjoseph63 replied to TakoTuesday's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I used the Dritz snaps on my first go-around, found out (the hard way) that they come apart REALLY easily, and ended up having to replace every single one with Tandy line 24 snaps.. I also replaced all of my ABS snap plates with nylon, (not an easy task, but worth it). The reason being is that the ABS plates do not conform to the shape of the armor in many places, and tend to pop off at the most inopportune times. Like Jason said, "Improvise, overcome, and adapt"! -
I would reference this thread, Brady: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/32111-fisd-e-11-blaster-reference/. This is the end all be all of E-11 build information. If there are any specific questions after reading this, I am sure someone is here to help!

With the constantly growing number of HWTs in the ranks, I was wondering if there was a possibility of producing a specialty challenge coin... 1. Are there any HWTs (or anyone, for that matter) out there that would be interested in one or more? 2. If there are a sufficient number (and what would that number be) of people, who would I contact to get the ball rolling? As far as a design, Steve (Templar726) has given permission to use his awesome patch design for 1 side, (below) and I know someone who could do the reverse. (Any ideas on a design for that would be welcomed if this goes through)... Thanks for any and all information!

Many well deserved congratulations to you both, gentlemen... Like Vern said, "Large shoes to fill", but I am sure you will do a great job!!!!

new german armor?
justjoseph63 replied to stormtrooperwannabe's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Some very wise advice from Bone there, Sascha. I'm not sure what part of the country you are located in, but there are 5 Garrisons in Germany, and hopefully one is located nearby. I would advise getting in touch with them, and volunteer to be a "handler" at one or more events... this way you can get some advice in person as well as see some quality armor up close. I am not familiar with the boundaries of the different Garrisons there, but I am sure if you let us know what city/area you are in, someone can put you in touch with the right people. As far as building your own armor, there are literally thousands of TKs who have built their kit using the advice and instructions from this site. It seems a little daunting at first, but we are here to help! -
Gazmosis Retiring - Please stand by on EIB/Centurion Approvals

Steve... You went above and beyond the call of duty in your role as DO for me personally... Not only by helping me get to get my badges, but in answering my multiple inane PMs along the way. To say "Thanks" is quite an understatement, and I am glad to hear that you are going to stick around and provide your insight on the forums. For this, I salute you! -
E6000 warnings. Read them and wear a respirator!
justjoseph63 replied to cm325i's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
Like this? --------- (Not mine... seriously). -
Perhaps the fifteen hundred dollar price tag (including shipping) reflects the cost of the slick ad photos... (someones kitchen floor)? It says "For experienced hobbiests " (I think they meant hobbyists) because the listing says it "Needs surface prep and repair of minor casting imperfections, painting, and strapping". Like Tyler said, I feel sad for anyone who spends their hard earned money on this.

Glad to see you found some cool decals, Pat!

I think he was joking... there is no WAY that armor could be approved with those boots!
-
Francois (Imperial boots) was great when I ordered mine, and I got them in only 9 days! I would advise ordering a 1/2 size larger than what you actually wear, though, to allow for padded inserts in the bottoms for those long troops.
-
Ralf is correct, Shay... The path to becoming a TK is certainly not an inexpensive one. I am not sure what area of the world you are in, but perhaps the shipping should be no where near $250.00 My suggestion would be to start saving for the armor, but in the mean time start collecting the other things you will need to go with it, i.e. boots, supplies, undersuit, blaster, etc. If you read through this excellent thread, it will break down how much you can expect to spend, (a lot of which will depend on your armorer, of course). http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/28304-how-much-can-i-realistically-expect-to-pay-to-finish-my-stormtrooper-costume/

ESB Under Shoulder Strap Color: Black or White?
justjoseph63 replied to cjdesign's topic in ESB Stormtrooper
Personally I would stick with the elastic. I think nylon of any sort may restrict your range of motion, which could cause the snaps to come undone and/or put undue stress on the shoulder bridge areas of the chest and back plate. -
ESB Under Shoulder Strap Color: Black or White?
justjoseph63 replied to cjdesign's topic in ESB Stormtrooper
Go with the white, Carl. Just remember to fold the ends over about half an inch and CA (super) glue them for strength before attaching the snaps. -
Rubies Supreme - Value?
justjoseph63 replied to MontgomeryFett's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I actually plan on dismantling it and cutting it up for an art project I have in mind. -
I am 5' 10, 158, and have AM armor. Yes, there was some trimming, but then again all armor is going to need trimming. Mine fits perfectly, and got me to Centurion.

It can be a bit tricky sometimes, choosing who and who not to let hold your weapon, especially if its a resin built E-11. I have used the "I'm sorry, but Imperial regulations forbid it" line a few times, but occasionally someone next to you has a hyperfirm and hands it over to someone, which makes you look stingy.

Rubies Supreme - Value?
justjoseph63 replied to MontgomeryFett's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
I just thought of something I could do with it, Josh, but it depends on what shipping would be (to zip code 33897) -
I would recommend heading to Lowe's or Home Depot and picking up a "needle file" set, Mark. The set runs about 4 bucks, and comes with 6 different type of files. I found this invaluable when working on the teeth. http://www.lowes.com/pd_159850-16878-63235___?Ntt=needle+file+set&UserSearch=needle+file+set&productId=4777067
