Looking for soft pieces
sharkbait replied to SpudsMcKenzie's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
I was going to recommend the same @repentance3232 did. Are you in need of the other soft parts (undersuit, gloves, neckseal) as well? I can recommend various sources for those as well, if needed. Good luck on your build! -
Eddie Wang Requesting Pre Approval Review (Anovos)
sharkbait replied to Eddie·Wang's topic in Request TK Pre-Approval
Fantastic job! Easy basic pass! I also spy some Centurion elements in there- are you going for it? I have just a few totally nit-picky notes, which undoubtedly they will catch if you go Centurion (because that's just what we do). I would move the dome/black strip down just a smidge on the face. There's a bit more of a gap that we see in the CRL reference photos. It appears your belt box on the left could be pushed over just a smidge as well, to completely line up with the end of the belt, like the right side does. It could also be the angle of the photo. I'd also recommend reinforcing the bracket strapping system- not for accuracy but for longevity. You can do this on the inside so you preserve the bracket look, but add strength and support. I'd do a nylon webbing and Tandy (or equivalent) snaps, as I've seen the brackets just rip through the armor and require repairs quite quickly. -
WTF does it, but I'm dealing with it now, and I do not recommend it at all. Or WTF in it's current state. Radu Plucinsky would be the top choice, and Jim Tripton is also a viable option. Both can be found on Facebook. Also, JRS might be able to help you out a bit more for Iden and Hask,, and Del Meeko in Spec Ops. I'd also recommend the JRS Inferno Facebook group- I've found a lot of into and photos there.

76. Valley Animal Center Super Adoption, Fresno - 5/4 Holding the black kitten on the right. My goal at this troop was to hold animals. I accomplished it. I started holding the little white one (it had a gray tail), but it blended in too well with my armor so I passed her off to our Officer and took the black one (long haired and beautiful markings around her eyes!) instead. And a group shot because we had such a fine group of TKs out! We had a great group because we're all animal lovers. I adopted my cat (Falcon) from this shelter, too. -

74. Spring Carnival, Laton - 5/3 video-1556940082 While I track down our group shot, enjoy this video of me popping almost every snap I have while having fun with a pinata. The kids got tired of whacking at it and just wanted the candy, so they enlisted us. (I managed several much harder whacks after the camera stopped rolling). -

73. Fresno Grizzlies Star Wars Night Promo Filming, Fresno - 5/3 In the middle. It's kind of hard to see in the photo, but we're all wearing brown bandolierr ribbons in honor of Peter Mayhew. My heart may belong to the Dark Side and the Empire, but my favorite Star Wars character has always been, and will always be, Chewbacca. -

I had an all-inclusive helmet set up originally, with the speaker Hovi tips. They simply weren't remotely loud enough for my area and where I trooped. IT was hard to hear me when they were cranked up to 11. With the wireless mic, I mount it in the helmet, so the bucket is self-contained and I can take it on and off with no wires. The aker just hangs around my neck and sits at my upper chest. So it still sounds like I'm talking from my head-level, which is good. Also I run an old iPod shuffle with TK chatter through the same one.

I recommend the Aker 10 watt. It's plenty loud, good quality, and worth the money. I tried cheapies at first, and they all died and I should have just bought an Aker outright and spent about the same. I use a generic wireless mic set up (Amazon, $20 - $30). My fans are generic home-made, and they work great. Some people love the USB power chargers, some people like 9V, some people do those blue 12v rechargeable from eBay (they come from China). I personally ditched the blues for 9V and love them. They don't overpower the fans so I can still kinda hear, people can't hear my helmet buzzing from the fans, and they last at least one troop if not two or three. I haven't seen good luck with the USB chargers locally, but people swear by them so apparently there is something to be said for them.

Split cable for iPhone to tktalk app to amp
sharkbait replied to JFarwell's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
I use this one, or basically this one, to split audio cables: amazon.com/Belkin-Speaker-Headphone-Audio-Splitter/dp/B000067RC4/ I'm not using my phone with it, and I also have Android, but it should be generic. -
Welcome! We look forward to having and working with you! I'll also drop you a PM with more details.

TK Pre-Approval Program Overview
sharkbait replied to Daetrin's topic in TK Pre-Approval Questions & Discussion
How's it set up? As in, how many pieces (main parts plus ear bars)? I'd look through the build threads and find an armor maker with the same or similar set up, even if not AP, and see how they did it. There's only really three or four ways to do it, so odds are some other maker build could also suffice. -
Welcome to the ranks!

But is it really a real project if you don't have to go to the hardware store at least twice? Welcome aboard!
