  1. Looking good there trooper! Not too long now! What did ya need to do to your helmet?
  2. Mineral spirits or testors paint thinner
  3. Looking good Carl!
  4. Hey bro, any news? Long time no hear!
  5. I too just started on an AP bucket. Thanks for sharing, and I apolo for the late reply! Good looking buckets!
  6. Ill be sure to submit it! Although it was advice given by another trooper, the least we can do is archive it finally Nice Valentines pic! LOL awesome stuff! On the helmet, it seems that your tears are a tad bit too small. Maybe an expert painter can chime in on this, but to me it seems they are a little too far in from the molded outline. Just my .02 cents
  7. To really remove any type of CA glue, what I do is just sand it down with some 400 grit sandpaper, then some 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper(sanding it after dipping the sandpaper in a bit of water), then after that, i use all 3 stages of Novus polish(may be overkill but I am not taking chances), and keep rubbing it in until all of the scratch marks are gone. It takes a bit of elbow grease, but it works. I would imagine this method will work for ABS glue as well although I have not tested this just yet.
  8. Always nice to have reinforcement. I have shims on mine, i think it gives it a stronger join, especially a place that takes as much stress as the fronts take being constantly opened and closed when suiting up.
  9. What i do if i need to trim the length of the thighs, is measure from the top however much i need to cut, and work my way around the thigh following the contour of the top. That way i dont have to worry about trimming too much and having the top fronts be too high
  10. Ditto. The ridge, from my understanding, is to add a bit more rigidity. Get the cap and back glued together first, and the rest will be very similar to other helmet builds. The rear traps will not align perfectly between the cap and back fyi. Also, do not force yourself to use the pre marked dimples for aligning the face to the cap and back. They are pretty close, but not 100%. What i did when aligning the face was use a nunber two pencil lined up with the front of the front traps, and center that off the back edges of the tears as best you can. Ive built two of these helmets and was happy with the alignment using that method. Besides the visible seam and larger ears, it is really a strong helmet when fully assembled. Compared to the AP helmet I just received, this thing is an absolute tank. Darth Vorhess has an awesome NE helmet thread you should look at, the NE helmet IS the AM 2.0 helmet, and basically the only part of NE armor allowed to be sold on these boards. I also have a build thread that includes this same helmet on my signatures link below. Good luck trooper! Cant wait to see the finised product!
  11. Dude I need a backpack like yours lol. That's going to be the hardest part of the transition for me
  12. Best of luck Tony! Im hoping to make some add ons to this one of these days! Great looking armor there sir!
  13. Thanks for sharing! Something like that will definitely come in handy!
  14. Word of advice for your sniper plate getting caught in your thighs. Put some foam on the lower back part of your thigh(on the inside of course), and also some foam on the front insides of your shins. This will create more separation from your sniper knee and thigh . You dont want that to get caught up!
  15. Pretty much at least one trooper in every troop I've done had had issues with the public attempting to take the TD. Usually happens more when theres adults drinking or kids that their parents just let them do whatever they want and laugh.
  16. Great job Eric! Looks like ill be ordering another set of ears, you will have to show me the ways of the mostly gapless ears!
  17. Also, one word of advice, whatever you choose, go very conservative on stickers or anything that MAY make your box an easy target for thieves. Go crazy with customizing on the inside lid, but keep in mind that a lock won't stop a theif who sees star wars stickers all over the box and takes a chance of there being something realy expensive inside. Just my .02 cents on the matter most don't even consider this, including myself until i thought deep and hard about it
  18. +1 for husky. I have almost enough room left over for another set of armor when im done! Just not another helmet! I disassemble darn near everything. I pack my chest, back, butt, and crotch plate(i split mine from my abdomen). Then i put my thighs under the tool box carrier with the shins inside the thighs, and my boots right next to those. Then i put my ab and kidney armor on top of my chest etc, slip my biceps into my shoulders, and bend the strap for the forearms(i can fit both arm components into my ab/kidney armor). Helmet right next to it, and blaster and belt get fitted inside as well. The husky mobile tool box is a BEAST. BUT i can safely get it into the backseat of my 2005 dodge neon, and much more comfortably into the back of my 09 nissan xterra. I put all my accessories and emergency troop kit, and aker into the tool carrier. I always ask myself if i am missing anything because playing tetris growing up DOES HELP YOU LATER IN LIFE.
  19. Looking good trooper! Ya have the helmet pre assembled with holes and trimmed ears right out of the box as well?
  20. I had to cut the tops of my AM thighs. But what i did was assembled the fronts of my thighs, then used the back to fit them to me. Do this first, then see if you need to take some of the length off. You want the thigh to sit above or maybe a little over ypur knee I still need to take more off of mine.
  21. Helmets are all subjective. What most do is attempt to match the white of the armor to the white of the helmet when purchasing separately. I just got an AP lid to go with my AM armor, the color match is darn near perfect
  22. Definitely Centurion approveable! LOL
  23. Use better snaps? What kind of snaps did you end up using?
  24. i just dont see the point in bullying people about what they decided to purchase. I think some of these people really need to take a look in the mirror and figure out why exactly they joined the ranks to begin with. We are all family! I personally am not a fan of the FX kit, but i would never make fun of it. it is an armor that has helped this detachment grow, and we should be thankful of it.
