  1. Perspex 'forks' or U shaped holders coming up from the bottom. Then you can swap it around when you feel like it, or display both sides if it's on a low table or something. I remember as a kid my dad telling me he was a cowboy when he was younger, fighting the indians. Of course I believed him, so the Battle of Endor story would be cool!
  2. I originally did mostly plates, some nylon. Nylon ones where it was curved. Nylon ones can also be handy if height makes a difference.
  3. What about some clear glass or Perspex ones coming off from the back somehow, like shelf supports, so they're basically invisible.
  4. hehe. I'm just looking at the top shelf of my bookcase. Something like that might fit there.... Hmmmm
  5. I'd keep your shoulder straps at 90deg corners. I assume you mean the ammo belt is cm away, not mm. LOL! Wait until you have the thigh glued together first. It needs to line up with the rear of the thigh, so wait to see what that size is before you trim/
  6. You want about 15mm cover strips on the forearms. I'd mark about 7/8mm on each half, then tape it together (overlapped for now) at that mark. If it looks and feels right, fits, start trimming.
  7. Looks great Chris! And when you're out trooping, you can put some fish in there!
  8. Nice painting Ron
  9. Tip from the pros Tim. Sew your shoulder snaps the right way around. Apparently it's a pain in the you know what to have to unpick the stitching, re-sew them the right way and jab yourself with a needle an extra 2 times. That's what a friend told me anyway
  10. Looks fantastic Craig. All you need now is a new magazine.
  11. Don't know why they bothered Walt. You answered the question fairly clearly
  12. Looks good Bill. Do you need to share how Keith knows what size your cod piece needs to be
  13. I think you're lying to us Aaron. You just ducked out and bought a brand new Sterling off the shelf and are trying to pass it off as a 60 year old weapon!
  14. So, I don't mind publicising my mistakes or mishaps (I've made plenty of them....). Latest is the handguards. See my other thread http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/27403-another-boot-thread-but-with-spray-paint/ - hand guards looked good. I then glued them onto my gloves. CA glue, clamped on. First mistake, I laid down masking tape to outline where the guards were to be placed. Second, CA glue leaked out and saturated the tape. Third, clamps pulled off the paint when I released them. I think the clamps were too powerful as they really left an impression. Anyway, I couldn't get the masking tape off, so I ripped off the guards and bought new gloves. This time around, I followed Karin's tutorial for her guards and glued one edge at a time on the unpainted guard. End result: Now I just need to paint them again and let them cure fully. Belt completed However, next mistake - I cheated with the elastic straps and glued them on as two pieces (front and back) so they looked like full loops going over the belt, and they won't slip out of position like you often see. Somehow I managed to mess up the centering of them so the elastic is riveted on a little off centre [/url I've pondered having the drop boxes as a storage compartment, by closing with magnets. I think it should work, but not sure. Thoughts? And I notice in other threads, most recently a comment by Glen in Tim's thread about heat curving the belt. I didn't think about it with mine, but considering it bends like this under it's own weight and has a bunch of velcro at the back aswell, hopefully it'll stay put. I'm also a bit hesitant to crack out the heat gun, especially now that it's all together. Welcome any comments or suggestions. Cheers
  15. I'm having a debate with one of my non fan good buddies who hassles me about my fancy dress costume, where I correct him that it is ARMOR! But seriously, I just say there are makers who make the raw white plastic to a general shape then I cut to my size and put it all together with the other accessories.
  16. I think Germains words were "not too much on the shoulder bellss". You could also go NO return edge as per pics below. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/gallery/album/59-the-rs-suit/
  17. Oooohh, using the blasphemous Velcro..... Not sure if it's too late but the 10/13mm trimming method was changed in the CRL's some time ago to the present 45 degrees http://www.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt. It's probably an easy fix, or may not in fact matter for your EIB/Centurion status. Another minor pick up. Have you seen this thread http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/26477-what-we-know-about-strapping-snaps-rivets-etc/. Another minor one, with the drop box elastic width that shouldn't matter for any approvals, but knowing your perfectionism . Other than that, all coming along great. Looks fantastic. I did a similar trick with the drop boxes, however I put the elastic all the way over the belt to give a 'looped' effect.
  18. I just covered it in shoo goo. I thought better to be a trooper with no problems, than one that may or may not a have a problem.
  19. You could start by reading and doing some research in the T21 section, rather than the SE-R14 section. Just a couple of sections down below....
  20. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/26358-return-edges/?hl=%2Breturn+%2Bedges There's a good post from Germain there saying where to leave return edges and where not to. Also, about 15 threads came up with 'return edge' in the title if you want to do more research. Personally, if the armor fits, you're not a huge man, then I would get rid of any of that wavy, bubbly plastic. Ie: cut the inner line on your shoulder bells in the third pic.
  21. Looks pretty good overall. What do you mean by point 1? It's hard to tell with your arms down, but is there a big gap there that need closing/shimming?
  22. Yeah, his last post was about stopping, so I quickly jumped on the bandwagon. Now to find the time to start my build.....
  23. Delayed response, but the few builds that I just looked at (Gazmosis, usaeatt, Russell) all seems to hang over the edge of the rail. Leave it as is, I say.
  24. What? You calling me half a man? Lol! It's coming along very well, The. Nice cylinders. I've got some coming from Andy aswell.
