  1. You should head over to http://www.501stspecopsdet.net/ and make yourself know there. They are all things back.
  2. If you're sanding your trimmed edges, most definately, use a dremel (if you're confident with your own skills). I did most of my trimming with the cut off wheel, then sanding drums. You'll then need to finish off with some finer sand paper - 400grit or so. If you're talking about the face of the armor, that's different. Only real fine stuff (1200) and polish. What shouldn't you use? Nothing you're not comfortable with but anything you are. I even used a 5inch angle grinder with cutting and grinding wheels on some parts
  3. That's why I said, first, second, third steps above. You need to buy the armor, before you get in the details. The time spent waiting for the armor will allow you to do heaps of research and you'll learn all the terms used. There's even a handy acronym thread http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/9510-common-acronyms/ to help you out.
  4. Is your other thread not exactly the same question? Start with the newbie section, and then research, research, research. That is always first, then buying is second, then building is third. Covered in between by lots more research and specific questions depending on what armor you have bought.
  5. Well done Ron. Yeah, it threw me a bit - some helmet pics have painted screws, some not. Some armor pics have painted rivets, some not. But they are probably more for Centurion though. Just make sure you get the right pics for that application.
  6. That's amazing Tino. You should be very proud of yourself! Truly a work of art.
  7. Good job Tim! You got a Star Wars name in the family too. My oldest boy is Luke aswell. My wife wouldn't be in it to call our second son Anakin. Left that name to our turtle
  8. Will be watching this with GREAT interest. I was going to do a 40mm metal pipe for my DVH kit, but have bought a plastic pipe instead for "better fixing" options.
  9. You drive on the left. Although half of us drive on the right, so that probably doesn't help much. Seriously though, there are plenty of tutorials in the Hard Armor section that discusses most. If you can't find them (ie: I don't have time to look now), post a specific question and we'll chime in here.
  10. Good start. I'd square off those teeth a bit more though
  11. Welcome to the FISD Veers. Plenty of good help here, if needed
  12. Haha, how could you know me so well? But seriously, I did. Just got stuck into the helmet, and the rest followed.
  13. Noooo. Get stuck into the helmet. Once you've mastered that, anything else is easy! What kit have you got there?
  14. Excellent! Wasn't sure it was my place to do so. Glad you did
  15. Yeah, it was only changed in the last day or so. I'm in the same boat - brackets are right in the way of the cut out. I think the only way you could fix it is to move the brackets and ABS paste the holes over. Mine are glued in. Not sure which is easier/harder
  16. Hey Steve, In order of ease: 1. Dremel, or angle grinder with cutting wheel 2. Hack Saw 3. File 4. Sand paper (could be a bit hard) It won't affect any approval. It's just not 100% accurate. So perhaps just keep it in mind next time you catch up with some Garrison buddies that might help you out. (or a basic hack saw is probably only $2- to $3- from a hardware store.) It's only the ends, like your pic below: To squared off ends like the screen used one below.
  17. Hey Chuck. Coming along nicely.... Here's a good thread http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/26886-split-rivet-placement/ that discusses the split rivets that Ron mentioned. Unfortunately the lower rivet shouldn't be in the 'cod' area. Helmet - can you line up where your ears go, then just make sure the cut line you drew is under them. That is most important. And the bottom of the helmet (opening) - I wouldn't worry about that until it was all screwed/riveted together. You might need extra material later.
  18. Is there an allowance depending on when you started building your armor? Mine didn't come with those check outs, now I've built mine so there's is a smooth transition between butt and kidney as is.
  19. Looks cool . I'm thinking of an Iron Man (after my Stormtrooper, oh, and after my Snowtrooper )
  20. That's going to come up great!
  21. What do you want to "practise" and "tinker" with? Considering it's so called complete, there would be nothing to do other than adjust straps to your size. Better off starting from scratch with a known maker. You can get complete, new kits for that $$
  22. See if you can take that rounded edge of the TD brackets. As mentioned in another thread, they're not really screen accurate with rounded ends. They should be square with perhaps just the sharp corner taken off.
  23. Was it before? Or did I look at 2 and comment on the wrong one? Oh well....
  24. You'll probably get more views, and therefore help, if you ask for your thread to be moved to the build threads section http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/80-anh-build-threads/
  25. Lookin shiny Ron! Are your biceps connected any way? They've rotated around a bit in those pics. Obviously rotate them back for new approval pics, but you might want to consider some strapping.
