  1. More.... (yesterdays post wouldn't work, so I'll try do it in several sections) Elastic on the shoulder bells to go around the biceps Velcro, not elastic attached to my thighs. These will stick onto a Velcro based back support/brace/belt (pics to come.....) And some padding going inside the forearms/biceps, etc. However I do need some thinner foam.
  2. Ok, been a bit slack here. I've been doing little bit by little bit and trying to take photos when I remember. So an update: Nothing like a mini armor party on the mates dining table Made up my own belt and snaps (but I've since later changed my method for hanging the thighs. Thanks VNB for the idea!) Cut the little notch (15x10mm) as per new EIB regulations. Doesn't quite suit the shape of my but piece now, but apparently that doesn't matter. And you can't see it at all when I have my belt on.
  3. Well, that's alright then! As long as funds are being generated for the cause. Edit: just googled Charlie Sheen. Needs to be more of that! That's probably small change in his bank account.
  4. Ok, I don't really understand this - nominate someone to dump a bucket of ice over your head OR donate to the ALS cause. Does that mean because all these celebrities (and you Tim, you're a celebrity ) are NOT donating to the cause? If so, what's the point?
  5. I hope you didn't purposely scuff your boots. Not a requirement any more And someone will no doubt chime in about being too much gold on the scope. Great build Diana. Good luck and I'll say congrats now!
  6. From the big man himself http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/27756-holster-strap/?hl=%2Bholster
  7. 99.9% sure the colour of the tabs doesn't matter. There's even sellers out ther (in fact, my holster was like it) where they make them with loops for ESB and just cut one half of the loop to have a single piece for fixing if you go ANH.
  8. Just remember, not all centurions are correct, and one exception certainly doesn't mean it's right. Chuck, depending on what level of accuracy you're going for, I wouldn't change until told to do so, as the clean up will probably look worse that it does now, which isn't that bad anyway. Keep going!
  9. Exactly. Personal preference. Even in the photo reference section, there are variations.
  10. Haha, thanks. But seriously, I've ordered a Snowy kit. We get the extremes of both seasons here in Canberra!
  11. The shiny bits on your belt - are they just the rivets joining the plastic to the fabric? You've still got to put your rivet covers on, do you?
  12. Have a look at a bunch of EIB/Centurion or build threads on how they do their strapping. Basically, yes the back and kidney is connected, but no strapping methods are compulsory. The male snap on the right can be functional or not. Doesn't matter. I added a second snap (on a plate) to make mine functional to close the clamshell. No return edge on the wrist end of the forearm is mandatory. Everything else on your limbs is optional. Torso pieces generally have a 5-8mm edge on them. Check out some of the photo references for details, or recommendations from Gazmosis in the EIB/Centurion threads.
  13. Hey Chuck. I'd make some further queries about your back/kidney gaps with either your local GML or the more senior guys here before you go too far. I'm not sure whether that big gap is approvable or not. Not sure how tall you are, but maybe that armor isn't right for you??? Also, just a little observation, youre right hand snap on the ab piece is actually on the 'shim' rather than on the ab. Can you see where the line is where the 'ab' ends? Hopefully you know what I mean. Will try post pics later if you're not sure. Otherwise, progressing well!
  14. Put your Snowtrooper armor on.
  15. I'll just try again later, and report back if it continues for too long....
  16. Hmmm, that sounds like my problem just replying to my own build thread. Added text, added links from photobucket and it just sits there "saving post". When I try a different section it says that 404 Not Found error.
  17. Good luck Jeff. You're right, confidence will build. Get that first cut done, that first bit glued.... You'll be right!
  18. What are the lower and upper limits for free time off from your wife and family?
  19. I would PM/email your local garrison leader who will be approving your or not, and get his opinion whether they will be ok. I doubt it as everyone I've seen have a nice gentle curve to them.
  20. Yep, definately not attached yet. What are you doing about your plastic shoulder straps? Oh, you're saying they are attached? As Ron said, they need to be basically touching the shoulders
  21. As mentioned in that thread you posted about the e6000, it's probably all a myth. As everyone posted in it, and I concur with my build, no probs at all with e6000 against the metal snaps. Maybe some minor distortion under the snap plate but nothing that will be visible.
  22. It will take a very long time to iron a business shirt with a heat sealing iron
  23. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/tutorials/article/5-howto-post-images-on-the-forums/ However, when I do it, I copy the IMG Code Theres a few other topics in the Tech help centre too. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/24-tech-support-center/
  24. I know someone who wasn't at work today! Nice work. Looks great. Where'd you get the Cog decals from?
  25. Great Resource. It would have been nice to see this before I started.... As you say, I think most people (me) will fit somewhere in the middle, unless you go for the top end RS/TM suits. There's money to be saved ($5- for gloves and use the plastic guards that come with most kits), and there's more to be spent - I think the strapping and supplies are a bit light on, and you could go crazy on tools (demel, heat sealing irons, paints, brushes, thinners, thermal detonator clips, etc). Thanks for making the time to put this together.
