Unfortunately, the Comic Style boot is really only available from Gio. I don't know if it's based off any sort of shoe style out there, but I've never been able to find an existing shoe that looks like it.

Paul, can we chat regarding Vincent's design? To keep costs down and remove some of the issues with the flap, I asked Vincent to produce a prototype with stitching that would emulate that look but not have the issues associated with the flap (the adhesive comes off, color differences, fraying and damage from the shin). These are based off the original boots that were approved as the original CRL (before Gio's photos were added to the CRL). Here are photos of the prototype: Would really like to have a reliable vendor like Vincent on this project... hoping this can help our new members and the ladies that have worn-out originals!

Keep in mind that these parts are contoured pretty significantly. I'd recommend taking off from the bottom of the calf, and mounting it as low as you can on the boot (they sit pretty high on my wife's boots). For the thigh, that's a tough one. Taking off anything will remove the return edges. Will you be heat bending new returns? Perhaps you can just mount the thighs higher, which will end up with less of a gap between the cod and the thighs (not a bad thing).

At this time, only the heeled version. We'll do another interest thread on the flat version after this run. Glad there's a lot of interest - I'm sure they'll make it in any size needed. Edit: found out the soles come from a supplier and the largest available is a EU 40 (US 9.5) Vincent is looking for other options, but he thinks it's unlikely he'll be able to find them that large, sorry! I expect some mockup samples this week and will post up here as soon as I get the photos!

"The boots have a rugged tread white sole with a tall thick heel." Not sure what the GML is asking for on this one. The photo is not the originally approved heel, it was a Gio design. Here's the original "Newlook" and "Steve Madden" white chunky chelsea that was approved after adding a vinyl strip to the front:

This has been removed from the CRL. There is no reason to define construction methods in the CRL.

Those should work for the Statue version, yes. Add the strip to the front and paint the stitching with vinyl/fabric paint.

I'm going back to all these posts and moving the photos from Photo*uckIt and into Imgur. After building this kit about a dozen times... we've changed a few things to the build process to make it easier to assemble, easier to wear, and lasts longer. I'll update these processes and provide more photos when I have some time.

Very detailed list! The tools look good. Few suggestions: - I would swap out Line24 snaps for the Dritz. The Dritz ones are notorious for failing. - Snap plates are great idea. Because of the curves in this armor, you may want to think about doing snap plates made of the nylon in certain spots (top of the chest comes to mind). - Any idea how you're going to mount the TD to the kidney? I always use 1.75" flat head screws with nuts on the inside of the tube. Inside the kidney, the screws go inside "finish washers". You'll need a drill/bit to make the holes in the armor and tube. - E6000 is a really good idea for a first time build. I prefer CA glue because of the speed, but you can easily screw something up with it... Couple things to think of down the line: - What are you considering for your bucket? Foam? Motorcycle helmet liner? E6000 works fine, but I'd recommend hot glue if you have available. - Fans in bucket?

Gio does indeed make both versions.

Don't think there's any source material for black Legacy armor. My wife just wants it for conventions and... reasons.
