  1. following Didn't it break your heart to cut this Sterling?
  2. That looks interesting, but you will at least have to correct scope and magazine, as these are installed wrong on those pictures. Anyway, nice find and the corrections are at a minimum.
  3. Looks like it will do the job. It really takes some vision to see a scope rail in that first picture
  4. Yes, the collection of spray cans and paint colors at the end becomes more expensive than the actual resin kit But the result paid off. Looking so cool! Saw just one little flaw: your counter numbers are upside down. Any chance to turn this around without damaging the window? If not, don't worry. Won't be noticed by many people...
  5. Very good weathering! Really liking the way you run this build, John. Makes me wanna grab a completion set myself and do another build...
  6. Interesting build so far. Did you remove the reset button of that counter or did it come without? Great work on the 3D prints.
  7. Very good progress! Just make sure to keep the appearance of the folding stock and the main body identically. Meaning you should add that black layer to the folding stock, too (if not already done).
  8. As it has been said, they stated things could change. Wouldn't care as long as they don't start mixing up ABS armors with PVC helmets...
  9. That's what I've been waiting for. Gonna get fun to watch Can you check if its possible to replace the grip with a real Sterling's grip? And is that selector switch operational?
  10. Woohooo!!! THIS reflects the evolution of pushing modifications to the limit. Really like how you combined the mods from usaeatt2 and Sith Lord.
  11. Hi David and welcome to the FISD It is a good idea to use the waiting time for a blaster build and without your last sentence, I would have recommended to contact Derrek (DDay) to get on the waiting list for his new kits... You seem to look for the DoopyDoo's kits, so yes you are correct - for one their pipe builds you will need some additional parts which will change the price in the end. The full resin kits have everything included what you'll need (except the scope rail) but sell out very fast. If you really want to go for a DoopDoo's you can leave your email address on their homepage to be informed, if new kits are available.
  12. One thing is for sure: with that pre-made helmet in the kit, this would at least result in a group photo with everybody having the same "face" on their helmets (no stunt or hero mixup)
  13. Congratulations Ruben on getting the EIB badge
  14. Very cool progress. Power cylinders are looking like coming fresh from the factory . I like the fact you left a little of the red wire visible. The curved counter display is much more realistic and also creates some kind of zooming-effect to the numbers. Really nice.
  15. Hi Brett, can you post a link for us? Finding the droids we are looking for, seems easier than finding something on the RPF
  16. Very nice John - especially the soldering on the red wire And I like the fact you made those resistors from the green stuff, too. Good luck for the paint work...
  17. Have to say I LOVE this mod, because its exactly what I had in mind for my next build. You can be proud of your work. It looks like the real thing By the way: the guy who used the wire in that gap on the scope front was me
  18. Any ideas what happens when the people at the customs office ask you to open all three boxes in front of them? There will be a fully assembled TK helmet on the desk and it'll get hard to explain, this has nothing to do with Star Wars. 2 years ago when I thought of buying armor overseas, I was told to avoid ANY Star Wars-wording in such a case. But I doubt it'll work with that completed helmet... Any thoughts?
  19. Good to finally see some color on that beauty Would recommend to place the counter a bit higher and 1 or 2 cm towards the rear. When you paint the golden part of the counter, will you also paint the brass screw head in the grip? Trigger guard looks good. What a shame you can't get gloss black for the grip. Hope your work-around with the semi-gloss black will turn out fine. Any plans to add weathering?
  20. Regarding the weathering on the counter: can you use the same technique here that was used on the scope?
  21. John, it looks like you really studied that power cylinders tutorial . Thanks for the kudos and I am looking forward seeing your completed power cylinders with all the wires and some paint... Nice work so far.
  22. Hi Rebecca and welcome to the "white zone". You already have the most important tool for such a build and now it is up to you, how accurate you want it to be in the end... Do you aim for Bapty style, factory new appearance or a weathered blaster?
  23. And don't forget about the blaster. Maybe you want to start a scratch build for that in the meantime...
  24. Hey John, very good workaround! Would have done it exactly the same way. Until somebody with a real Sterling chimes in, here are the readings from my resin blaster (not claiming these are accurate, but at least you got something to continue with your build). The height was 12 mm from the receiver tube to the highest point on top. Hope this helps...
  25. Interesting find! Checked the aurebesh alphabet to see what's written on this helmet, but couldn't identify the letters...
