Research for content in the Completion Sets
T-Jay replied to T-Jay's topic in General Weapons Discussion
Hi Matt, I would recommend to wait until the new version of completion sets is available. Maybe you will like more than just the lenses... If so, you can PM me and we can still arrange a possible 2nd shipment to you. Side note: I only offer this to Matt, because he recently ordered a V1.9 completion set, just a few days ago. -
Research for content in the Completion Sets

Okay, meanwhile the monocular has arrived and got disassembled. Here is the result: As far as I can see, THIS is the best available option to upgrade the completion sets. It will take a bit time, but there will soon be a new version of these sets... -
Thrawns Guard's ANH E11 blaster build
T-Jay replied to Thrawn's guard's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Chris, its simply fun to watch you building that thing Noticed just one thing: your resin part is parallel to the aluminum part, while the real thing is higher on the side with the pattern and lower on the T-side. Is that something you can still recreate? -
New DoopyDoos E11 with T-Jays finishing kit
T-Jay replied to Twnbrother's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Mike, seems like I am a bit late to the party. Congratulations on finishing your great blaster build, which will definitely be an inspiration and source of knowledge for many other builders out there! Speaking only for myself now (not as member of the Blaster Reference Team), I could imagine you might get contacted in the future to contribute some of your work to the Blaster Reference... (not promising anything) Again, you did a fantastic job on this and thank you very much for using (and mentioning) one of my Completion Sets to finish this build. Always a surprise what people do make out of these... -
Thrawns Guard's ANH E11 blaster build
T-Jay replied to Thrawn's guard's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
That video looks promising. Can't wait to see, if you used a spring from a pen or a stripe of spring steel... Good work on the counter and the other mods so far. About the screw (Philips or slotted), this depends on the type of counter and when it was made. Meaning both screws are correct. -
Nice idea to "glue" the scope with green stuff. Once cured, this gets really hard but to use it as glue, it would have made sense to drill some small holes in both halves, where the green stuff could move into when pressing the parts together. However, the idea is interesting, so please keep us updated if that worked. Dont forget to close the gaps above with green stuff. About the height of the inlay: just eye-size a straight line with the rest of the resin part, but that square knob on the end is slightly bigger, meaning your inlay could move a bit lower there. Might be too late already, but I fear your trigger swings too far forward and will touch the inside of the trigger guard. The little spring might also become visible then. If still possible, you could add some green stuff on top of the trigger (where you had sanded) to create a mechanical barrier for the trigger to keep it from moving to much forward... Good job done with your build so far.

A very nice looking result, Dan. Love the look of your counter window and scope lenses. Really good!

That sounds promising. Can't wait to get it in the mailbox and share the disassembling details here. Hopefully in 1 week from now... -
Research for content in the Completion Sets
T-Jay replied to T-Jay's topic in General Weapons Discussion
Update: Getting closer to the next version of completion sets Since this poll had been opened, the HQOs seemed to be the favorite choice. Unfortunately the company that sold me the above samples, wasn't able to deliver the amount I needed. So began a very frustrating and time consuming research to find another solution. Long story short: Was in contact with countless people, but either they didn't had both required sizes and amounts, or the price was far too high or the minimum order was 500 pieces or they didn't sell to private persons. Had to go another way and decided to take a closer look at option #2, the jeweler's lens. Ordered one to disassemble and examine it. Here is the result: After seeing all the details now, I don't think the jeweler's lens would be a sufficient option for the blaster builders out there, so I kept searching for other options. When I was close to giving it up, I remembered in the past some people had used lenses from a small monocular. So I ordered one and will post again when it arrives... -
Got you, Mathias. At least the quoting tool works fine again Just kiddin'. Not sure if this is of interest for you (or if it makes things even more complicated), but have a look at the word DoopyDoo's in the headline of my completion set-thread and then in my blaster build-thread. Both topics are from 2014, both contain the same word, but only one headline is displayed incorrect now. Does that make any sense?
-
Fully understand this might get tricky and it affects the majority of threads on the FISD, some in the topic line and almost every thread in several individual replies. So I just wondered, if there is any activity ongoing in the background to fix this for all users, or if the users should re-check and correct their posts manually (quite a lot of work for some people here). Please let us know. Thanks Mathias
-
oh dear, that sounds complictated. sorry to hear. okay, for the moment i will stop to post any new content until this has been fixed. is there any other thread communicating the issues after the server move, or should we stick on this one here to stay updated?
-
few minutes ago, every word i typed started with capitol letters (no matter what i typed). now all letters are standard - even a word at the beginning of a sentence has the standard letter instead of the capitol letter. existing postings with special keyboard charcters like ' or " and - or ... are displayed incorrect now. can this be auto-fixed, or do we have to re-type everything we once wrote? and if you quote my text, this is shown in the light-grey text box, while your text (when i quote it) looks standard in my comment (see your lines above).
-
actually your above lines got quoted, but at the moment it is not displayed that way. hm, the issue with the capitol letters in every single word disappeared during the last few minutes. now every letter is small (after clicking on post). please don't get my message wrong, i fully appreciate what has been done during the last days. i am just wondering about the whitelisting of member groups: does that mean i have to become a 501st member to get my content displayed correctly? can't imagine that. and the problem i described above affects many (if not all) of the exisiting threads on the fisd. if there is still work ongoing in the background and you want us to wait with new postings, please let us know. i have a lot to post and can not proceed due to the above stated problems. do i just have to wait, or is there anything else i can do?
-
just tried to add another chapter to the fisd e-11 blaster reference and this feature even makes capitol letters in every single word! also posting pictures and links didn't work anymore... and older threads with special keyboard characters (like: " - ' ... ) are displayed incorrectly. or is that just me?
-
Thanks very much for this input, Germain. Will integrate this as soon as we finished our work on the current updates.

Maybe the mold from DoopyDoo's got tired meanwhile. Not sure. However, there are 2 ways to carefully "sharpen" the edges on the front muzzle again: 1 - Drill into the center hole by using a drill bit, that is just a little bit bigger than the current hole. You can do the same on the hex screws. 2 - Sand down a tiny little bit of the "face" on the front muzzle itself. This will result in getting sharper details there, but don't remove too much resin...

Thrawns Guard's ANH E11 blaster build
T-Jay replied to Thrawn's guard's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Placement looks good. As long as the scope's rear foot is above the hinge from the folding stock, it should be okay... -
Hi Chris, thanks for this info and your link. We are always happy to improve the content and raise the accuracy of this reference. The measurements in our diagram were taken with digital calipers from real counters and do match with the available information in the technical specification sheet from Hengstler. Maybe you got some slightly different values, because of the way and technique these have been taken. In some of your photos I noticed surprisingly soft corners on the cover, which could also have caused this. And for all values around the reset button you have to bear in mind, these are the dimensions of the hole in the cover - not of the reset button itself, which is of course slightly smaller. However, if there is a specific measurement which you feel is off, please let us know, so we can check. And thanks again for highlighting this. Comments like yours will help making this reference better as time goes by and that truly is why I "liked" your posting.

LOL. Thanks very much, Scott Not sure if Bill would want to wait a few more weeks before finally starting on this...?!? Considering the time to get through my current waiting list and shipping time to the US, might mean to wait until end of August or early September... @ Bill (DroidHunter): However, if you want me to put you on the waiting list, just send me a PM If not, I fully understand because for many of us it's hard to restrain themselves when it comes to start building.

New DoopyDoos E11 with T-Jays finishing kit
T-Jay replied to Twnbrother's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Wow Mike, how did you manage to get such sharp edges/corners into this? Electric drill and rotary tool don't seem to be enough for this nice result. -
Thrawns Guard's ANH E11 blaster build
T-Jay replied to Thrawn's guard's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
In my opinion 1 to 8 do look quite real and 9 to 11 appear very futuristic. But all of them look good. I think it only comes down to personal preferences of the individual builder... Thanks for sharing this nice collection / overview. -
Joe's Doopy Doos Build with T-Jay's finishing kit

Thanks for the feedback, Joe You'll find the "green stuff" when searching for Kneadatite Blue/Yellow Epoxy Putty or just click here. Show us how you repaired the scratch in the desk with green stuff Best glue for resin to resin connections is CA glue (is included in your completion set) -
