  1. Oh dear, I forgot the most important help: feedback and support from the FISD community
  2. Hi Will, looks like my graphics card just broke, as it displays your TD with incorrect screen resolution. I can only see big pixels Good luck with your Anovos build.
  3. Thanks Curro. Aaron (usaeatt2) shipped a lot more parts than what I had asked for, now it is nice to have options, or spare parts - or parts for another build The conversion counter is only a half part and needs to be added to the other half of a resin Hengstler. The digital counter from Scott was added to the box of the Disney E-11. Maybe I modify this blaster later for my children. And the 2nd scope from Derrek was just in case my attempt fails… Really? To be honest, looking at all the boxes and parts made me think “Oh boy, what have you started here?!” Thanks D. You already KNOW of something interesting coming very soon… No worries, Ian. I hope to be faster from now on. But tomorrow is the TFA movie premiere and soon it's Christmas. Will do my best to keep you amused Well, I have no ideas left of what else could be added to this kit. But now I need to meet the expectations of the people here – not sure if that will work in EVERY case… Don’t worry. It caused some tension.
  4. Love how this turned out. Good job, Carl!
  5. Yeah man, go for it. Good luck, Brian!
  6. You did a nice job, Forrest. Any pictures of how you recreated the rear end of your inner bolt? That looks nice from the distance.
  7. That is a huge update, Aaron. Just your clearing strip on the inner bolt seems a bit wide to me. Would suggest to check the cleaned Sterling parts in the gallery chapter. Correct width is about 6,4mm. Are you going to do some fine-tuning on the front sight guard and the hole in your folding stock front?
  8. Good point Curro, thanks for highlighting. Somehow this was overlooked while setting up the chapters for this reference. We soon work to upgrade chapter #04 with this specific modification. Thanks again.
  9. Hard to tell without a side view picture of that elastic section. This should be U-shaped.
  10. Not sure yet on electronics. Have to check if that works with other mods I plan to do.
  11. Hell, that scope looks good, Harold! Following. Let me know if you need assistance for posting pictures, as Aaron's link covers the photobucket method but you are using flickr.
  12. That sounds interesting, Dan. Any plans yet on when you will start this? I heard that Bulldog44 and Twnbrother are also thinking of new builds. Let’s flood the FISD with build threads. Had a good laugh on this one. Yes, it is already there in that picture – and in the headline Thanks Brian. Sounds like you expect a lot of new modifications but this build is rather to combine many of the mods from the Blaster Reference. Okay, maybe there will be one new thing… Thanks Derrek. Keep your resin spare parts ready for shipping to me, while I try to not mess up mine - and don’t leave the country. Lol. Wish I could start already, Aaron. But there are things to take into consideration, like the correct order and so on. However, I expect this build to be completed a little bit faster than the last one. We will see. Wow! I feel honored by your words, Mike. Thanks a lot. You have my deepest respect. Hey Adam, unfortunately my opening post does not contain that much information like yours (what a start!) as I am focussed on documenting all steps to assist other builders in the future, who use a Completion Set.
  13. Ehm... my last comment was just a joke. Thought that Smily graphic would highlight this. Sorry for any confusion, I am really happy with that explanation. Thanks again.
  14. Dan and Bill, thank you very much for this great explanation. New question: why are still people calling that thing "O2 Canister" instead of "Thermal Detonator"???
  15. Just a side note, but I can't restrain myself: why is everybody calling that thing "Thermal Detonator" instead of "O2 Canister"??? We never saw a TK throwing this away. But what we did see, is how a real "Thermal Detonator" looks like, when Leia held one at Jabba's palace. Also the armor is meant to be fully closed and protecting the trooper from environmental influences. If so, there must be an O2 canister somewhere... Just my 2 cents. Back to topic
  16. Glad to see you thinned the guards. Looks so much better. Somehow I like the way your photos are organized now
  17. Wow Adam! That can be called an outstanding start. Seems like you collected pictures since quite a while?! Your first posting already covers about 20% of the whole build. Awesome! Following.
  18. Hello everybody In case the video does not play, here is the text: Almost 2 years after building the first E-11, it is now time to bring a new one to the next level. The FISD members were always helpful and encouraging. Last time, this turned the build and documentation into real fun. For the same reasons, this new build will be shared here soon. The plan is to combine a resin kit with many upgrade parts and to integrate a lot of the modifications, as shown in the FISD E-11 Blaster Reference. This time the pictures tell the story, so below is a little teaser… Interactive table of contents for easier navigation to individual posts: - Update #01 - Unboxing - Update #02 - Preparing for the days to come - Update #03 - Paint in the first build step plus Corrective Actions on bolt colors - Update #04 - Dark side of the bolt - Update #05 - Inside the receiver (back end) - Update #06 - Inside the receiver (front end) plus Corrective Actions on front muzzle - Update #07 - Get a grip - Update #08 - Finger on the trigger - Update #09 - The end (cap) is near - Update #10 - Slowly crawling forward - Update #11 - Lucky number eleven - Update #12 - Work on front end - Update #13 - Carving nightmare with the folding stock - Update #14 - Details on the folding stock - Update #15 - Preparations for paintwork - Update #16 - Bob Ross & “The Joy Of Painting” - Update #17 - Making new things look old - Update #18 - Sterling SMG L2A3 - Update #19 - The one with the open bolt - Update #20 - Like the prop-builders did in 1976 - Update #21 - Back on track (T-track tutorial) - Update #22 - The power cylinders - Update #23 - Railworks - Update #24 - The M38 Telescope(s) - Update #25 - Hollowed scope with small parts - Update #26 - Hengstler counter - Update #27 - Cables without labels - Final Credits
  19. Hi Aaron, that was a quick start. Your progress looks good so far. Thanks for that comparison shot of the rings for the end cap. Maybe you want to use your bigger drum sanders from picture 4 (upper left corner) to trim the inside of the two guards. Those perfectly match the guards and you can shape them more realistically. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/32111-fisd-e-11-blaster-reference/#entry414339
  20. Will think about this... and then we just have to find an opportunity to meet again - on a troop. Thanks Derrek. Yeah, when I am old and need chairs to rest every 10 minutes you can get me to do another costume that allows sitting while being in armor THAT is indeed what I fear the most . No seriously Alex, thanks for your kind words.
  21. Hi Brady, thanks for mentioning the blaster reference. Always glad to see it helps a trooper. You're correct, no glue on the end cap. Usually the spring is made from a 1.8mm wire that looks real but has only minimal spring effect. You can cut the final length as you need it, so there will only be very minimal pressure to the end cap. Some of us used ways to reinforce the 3 locking notches (like you saw with the green stuff), but depending on the quality of your resin parts this might not be necessary.
  22. Since completing this build for a static display, many people encouraged me to “join a troop” and become a member of the 501st. But I really worried to damage the armor - and wasn’t sure about grown-ups running around in movie costumes. One day I met a Stormtrooper in a local traffic jam, identifying ourselves via stickers on the cars. Below is my current company car (shhh, my boss doesn’t know) However, we managed to talk about trooping and all this. At some later point I decided to at least try it and avoid any preconceptions. So I started into a foreign experience, that many of you know so very well… My day in white plastic On a recent Sunday morning I met 10 local people, while the only person I knew was the Trooper from the traffic jam. A few were members of the 501st, others not, but it was a very friendly atmosphere and I really felt welcomed right from the beginning. We drove to a hospital, specialized on children who require maximum care, and were asked to show up on their summer festival. The weather was perfect, a mix of sun and clouds at medium temperatures, no rain. In our dressing room we helped each other getting into the costumes and I was already sweating before we left the room. Felt good and curious. Then we went outside. After just a few steps, a mate in front of me stumbled at the stairs but immediately was caught by the handlers. Nothing happened but seeing this, my feelings mixed up with concerns and a little bit of panic - maybe just enough to also give some attention to our surroundings. We marched to the entrance hall. My lenses fogged up (no active ventilation in my display helmet) and it was hard to see anything. With unsure movement I walked in the group. Thanks to the handlers I didn’t get lost. Later I found ways to reduce fogging by adjusting the balaclava at my nose and slower breathing. The better view allowed safer movements and more interacting with people. From that point it was real fun. Some children were a bit scared, while others made big eyes and smiled. A lot of photos got taken that day and these here really don't judge the atmosphere. Many times I was able to convince shy kids to give me “high five” and pose for a nice picture, taken by the parents. Those were the best moments. And sometimes the adults were even more fascinated than the kids A few children in that hospital unfortunately were not able to leave their rooms and participate at the festival outside, so Lord Vader and I visited as much of them as we could inside their rooms. Sorry, no pictures. But it was amazing when a little boy noticed us entering his room and he said “Woah, I have an action figure from you!” Spent 4 hours in full armor that day (short event) and really felt a bit sad when going back to the dressing room. Although getting 3 serious armor bites at my left knee and a little scratch on my blaster (repaired the same day), I felt the strange need to possibly do this again, someday. We will see if that virus got me. Not saying yes, not saying no... But for the moment I really like to thank the Quettinger Stormtrooper for this ideal trooping opportunity, Alex (Memory) for being such a reliable handler and the Star Wars Fans Aachen for the friendly welcome and the photos from that interesting day.
  23. Sorry Harold, missed this thread. There are different ways to mount the real folding stock to the receiver tube, depending on your receiver's material (resin or metal). At the end of chapter #13 we show how Tim and Ian did it. Maybe this helps... http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/32111-fisd-e-11-blaster-reference/#entry414352
