  1. Andrew, I am surprised what you made out of this toy blaster. It really looks good. Like Ian already said, the clearing stripe on the inner bolt needs to run from upper left corner to lower right corner. In your first picture you obviously had planned to lower the T-tracks on the front. That would still be a nice addition to make it look more correct.
  2. Aaron, your power cylinders are on that same high level as your scope modification was. Absolutely outstanding! I really like the way you painted and weathered in those last two pictures. Makes everything looking so real. Would you mind to let us know, what paint and technique you used?
  3. Update #06 - Inside the receiver (front end) The rear end got done last time, so we can move on to the forward section Can't wait to post the next update, but currently I only have limited time for this hobby. Will do my best to keep the updates coming... Have a nice weekend everybody
  4. Uuh, I really love that mod! It turns that wonky trigger area into something very precise. When you have the parts in hands next time to remove more resin, you could also add the 4th hole to be drilled under the trigger guard.
  5. Yep, "Sekundenkleber" is fine. Don't worry about corrections. Do a good research first. This here might help...
  6. Thank you, Ian. Your Sniper Rifle build is also very nice to follow. Great idea and the start is thrilling - or should I say "drilling"? Depending on the build progress, there might later indeed be a stage, where this blaster could look more like a Sterling replica. But I will make sure to turn it into an E-11 at the end. Good question, Sean. The paint is standard paint and because of sliding the bolt through the receiver so many times during building, I already noticed some wear. As announced in entry #41, the clearing stripes will get repainted with silver. After that I might add some color-compatible oil for lubrication. Yep, hope I don’t get banned for posting this garbage here… Thanks, Carl. You currently have an interesting ESB build running on your own and it is a pleasure to follow.
  7. Hi Jens, you are mentioning a "doopy's" kit. For glueing resin to resin you best use CA glue. In case you build a pipe kit and need to glue your resin parts to other plastics or metal, look for a universal glue and check for the specifications you will need. I completed my first Doopy Doo's full resin build with less than 1ml CA glue. Just be sure to sand for smal gaps between the parts. Hope this helps
  8. As a real LEGO fan I am out of words...
  9. That 2 piece grip really is an advantage when it comes down to mods like this. Wish I had such a grip too. Your "clicking trigger" seems to work fine and you've done a good job to get it working like that. Very nice idea.
  10. Update #05 - Inside the receiver (back end) Next step was to paint the inside of the receiver Thanks very much for comments and critics.
  11. Thank you very much, Mike. Although not being really sure what I got myself into. Well will see…
  12. Happy new year everybody. Hope you all had a good time with your families and friends, enjoyed the holidays and the new Star Wars movie Your true opinion is really appreciated. It was obvious, not everybody would like this mod and that is absolutely okay. Instead of purely estimating how a fictional laser gun might look internally, I just preferred to go for the real inside view of the original screen-used Sterling SMG. And most probably a laser gun would not need a moving bolt at all Thanks for your words, Curro! All I do is combining as much mods as possible and adding something new to it. At the moment, I am not even sure if all things in mind will collaborate in one blaster. You will soon see what I mean… Glad to hear you like the new look of your bullets. While thinking about the movable bolt, I simply got in need of something to place behind it. The resin rounds you sent with your barrels and spring cups were just perfect for this. So one thought led to another… Also a big “Thank You” for posting another great reference picture, validating the screen accuracy of the last update Dennis, your screen captures nail it! Especially the ones with Han and Leia holding the Sterling with bolt in backward position. Thank you very much for sharing these with us and for green light to use them. Hey Adam, thanks for stopping by. How are things? It’s been a while since your last build update. Hope you are taking your blaster and completion set to the maximum
  13. You can try weathering your spring with black spray paint to get that look. That is how I did it in my build, because the silver wire simply was too shiny.
  14. T-tracks will get expensive, he? Seriously, what a cool project. Following...
  15. Well, considering the amount of helmets on display there (yes, I know there are mirrors in that room) I would say these are mass produced and represent the final thing...
  16. Okay, okay - before getting quoted and PMed, here you go: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/32518-rogue-one-tks/page-6#entry451829
  17. Funny how everybody here seemed to miss, that the look of Anovos' classic TK helmet has meanwhile been unveiled in another FISD topic...
Sitzen übrigens beide in UK, also kommen keine Steuern drauf. Viel Erfolg
  19. Noticed it when I watched the movie the second time and wondered about that huge E-11 in the frame
  20. Update #04 - Dark side of the bolt The idea of a movable bolt causes more problems to take care of... Not sure yet if there will be another update this year, but latest in early January. Thanks for reading and/or following
  21. Mike, if you like this, I am curious on your opinion about the next update No need to do that, Ian. You built a very good looking blaster – and just recently I added a mod to mine, that you had done first Thanks Derrek. You surely know, the best thing is to never carry the blaster without the armor Thanks Chris. Feeling honored to hear this – especially as your own build became very outstanding! Dennis, thank you very much for highlighting this. Indeed I was referring to exactly the first picture from entry #37. And “Revell brass 92” was just the only available color in my paintbox, which came somewhat close to that. Although it is just a very little part, I am happy to repaint this soon - just to be sure to have everything correct. Thanks for pointing this out, Scott. To be honest, I had already thought about repainting the clearing stripes with silver. Reading your comment confirms to better do this, but it will take a while until the photos here display it correctly, because there has already been some work in the background… Aaron, thank you for posting these two pictures. They perfectly show what this discussion was about. I had them both and took the first one as reference. To be honest, I thought it would look even more real with that third color on the bolt. However, it is just a minor correction. No big deal. Thanks for your kind words, Brian but I did nothing special. The effect comes from the Humbrol Metal Cote that everybody can use. That is why I state the used colors and tools and hope to someday help other builders with it.
  22. Dude, 10 months! Did you really complain about waiting 1 month for my first update? Seriously, it is good to see that beauty finished. I recently checked this build for some research and wondered that it was still missing the paintwork.
  23. Update #03 - Paint in the first build step Okay I must admit, it took long to reach the point of finally showing some build progress and I hope it was worth waiting. In this build I am focussed on a more realistic appearance of the blaster, that will hopefully be achieved with different paint techniques compared to my last build. This is how I started. During the last 6 months I already built a few of these kits and always thought about a movable bolt. But pulling back the charging handle, exposes the bolt head. So this needed to get reshaped... Please feel free to leave any feedback and critics. The next update is not that far away...
  24. The Blaster Reference is surely better to learn from, than this individual thread. But I will try my best to maybe add something to it Didn’t know that guy until I searched the internet and yes, the “joy of painting” will soon be a topic in this build, too Oh, and when we used this Sterling picture for the title page in the Blaster Reference, you had stated it was made by yourself. Now that photo reveals the truth. Gonna have to report you for this Thanks again, Scott, for helping me on getting some of the parts for this build
  25. That must have been some real hard work to remove all the old paint! You did a good job on this one and the way your helmet is displayed looks very nice.
