  2. Paul Topic title edited for you mate
  3. Vincent Most HIPS helmets are usually pulled in a lower gauge thickness than the accompanying armour to retain more detail from the molds. You will always have weak spots on helmets even with ABS some are just weaker than others. I have an ABS Gino V1 and one of the wells where the Hovi's sit is as thin as tissue paper, one strong gust of wind and you could take a shave through that sucker. As Derek said, most of these areas can be reinforced from the inside using some thin cotton / old T-Shirt and some CA glue. You would only really need to do this in certain areas as the rest of the helmet is normally pretty sturdy. For the armour I would definitely fix finishing strips to the inside as well as the outside for added strength. You can also reinforce the edges where you will get a lot of wear in the same way as the helmet or you can use a thin bead of epoxy 2 pack which does the job just as well. This is not restricted to just HIPS suits as ABS can go in the same spots with excessive use. A friend of mine in the UKG as a T M and trooped 78 times last year and is already up to 44 so far this year and he's reinforced most of the prominent edges and he's had no problems with it (touch wood) as a result.
  4. Ron Looks pretty darn fine to me As Paul said just needs a strap from the cod to the but* Nice work Sir!

As you may have noticed, we try to encourage all new comers to pop over to New Member Introductions section and jot down a few lines about them selfs so if you get chance drop in and let know the story of the man behind the Bat........ http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showforum=5

  9. Ashley I've updated your profile to '501st Member' as you have no costume listed on the main 501st site. Have a little word with your GML to gee him or her along and let us know when your TK is listed and I'll amend your profile to full 'Stormtrooper' status.
  10. Paul Steve - riveting did a great tutorial for bubbles last year sometime, I don't know if this was the one you was thinking about but here's the link -----------
  11. Hi Vern May I suggest that you 'reel it in a bit' when responding to others in your posts instead of having a sly little dig at them, regardless of whether you feel that you are in the right or wrong. Manners and respect cost nothing mate, but does go a hell of a long way. The FISD is all about 'Troopers Helping Troopers' and I would hate to think that some members feel reluctant to do so because of some misjudged comments.
  12. Surely someone must have asked by now?,......
  13. Mike I think vinyl mate, I just don't think coated paper of any sort would age like this. it would bound to lift and fray with moisture no matter how well it had been kept. Boy, I wish I could have seen these Bad Boys up close Fantastic work mate, well done
  14. Hey Mack You're good to go now buddy, status updated and 501st access granted. Welcome to the FISD trooper
  15. Warren Sorry for hogging your thred mate So, as you can see you have a couple of choices. You can do the BRILLIANT 'T-Guns' mod and trim the top of the chest piece around the neck and cut the shoulder tabs shorter. Or you can trim the bottom similar to what they needed to do for Mark Hamill's Here's a couple of photos and links explaining the edge return and chest trim mod on the FX http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=3938 http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=2313 http://www.flickr.com/photos/stukatrooper/...57611595458544/ Lou - TK6908's brilliant work BEFORE AFTER And here's one of you Hope this as helped mate.

  18. Totally agree with the nominations of Mike.A - TK-4510 and Pete - Stukatrooper for all the reasons stated already and MORE I'd also like to throw another name into the mix...... Nathan aka SL-9135 aka TK-9135 aka runnriottt Now he may have changed his user name a few times over the years but he as never changed his commitment to helping others. His passion is there for all to see, He takes no crap, speaks his mind and is willing to go out on a limb knowing that his actions may be unpopular with some. Love him or hate him, you can never NOT take notice of him. This guy is a true Warrior with an heart of gold, he'll help anyone and fight 'till his last breath ....dying breed people, dying breed
  19. Ron, Alexander Status updated and access granted Mark - Nerdius I've copied you in on a PM to Greg - V'Pier our cheif of Admin who will hopefully sort out your problem with your old account.
  20. Nels Just wondering, if you are going ANH why you would want to put a sling ring on the front of your blaster? as these were only seen on ROTJ E11's and never appeared on any ANH or ESB versions. I know that the requirements doesn't specifically mention the front sling ring (we may need to update this) but this is recognised as part of the ROTJ add on's along with the door catches and greeblies. Loving the armour build by the way, looking pretty darn good there mate
  21. ....well I love the night life, I love to Boogie I say pick up a modeling iron and .....SMOOOOOTH that sucker out
  22. Chris 501st access granted, please let us know when you get your new armour cleared and we can update your profile to full TK - Stormtrooper status
  23. Jason The link doesn't work mate but I did a bit of digging and I found it Its a bit of a mish-mash that one. Its more ROTJ than ESB or ANH. For ESB you never had, U-Track, front sling ring, greeblies (wrong shape for the rare stunt blaster), door latch or a own design scratch built scope. Basically for ESB think ANH without an Hengstler counter, they mostly used the same props for both films. One notable variation though is a stunt / background resin prop copy of the Sterling that John-'Stormtrooper' is lucky enough to own and this as a block sight rail, unique claw like greeblies, door latch, 3 little circles, a sort of icicle shape bit of trim and some extra T-Track either side of the bayonet lug I don't know the maker but they have 100% feedback and its not a bad build even though they seemed to have got all the details wrong Oh yerh, E11-B is just their naming convention and as nothing to do with the blasters in the films This would not be acceptable for ESB EIB as is and would require a fair bit of modification that really wouldn't be worth the hassle when there are more suitable alternatives out there. Hope this helps mate
  24. I'm always doing that I found the longer you leave stuff unfinshed the more chance you have of 'mis-laying' parts here and there. I've been fannying about with my sandie for 6 months on and of now and every time I start it up again I can't find something So far I've had to re-order 3 lots of belt buttons, finishing strips for the thighs and shins, knee ammo strip, main ammo belt, berger stackers (that I'm not going to use now) TD ends for the tube.....the list goes on and on . The funny thing is, I store all my stuff in one room so I should in theory be able to find it. but do you think I can? What really cracks me up is the stuff that I find that I'm not looking for when I have lost something. The other day I found a brand new TCI still in its box that I'd forgotten I had. It's the TK pixies I tell ya, they get bloody everywhere <_<
  25. Eric The T-Track should be placed over the barrel case vent holes. There should be 6 in total leaving only the bottom row on the mag housing side where the bayonet lug is exposed. If you still want to see the lights on a the hasbro, you could make up some T-Track out of clear acrylic and spray it with some black lens tint, the type they use on the rear lights of pimped-up cars Hope this helps mate
