  1. Michael "Highway" Culp, TK-1636, assisted me in every step of my armor creation. From the ground up to the final touches to reach EIB status here and for the Dune Sea Garrisson. I'd like to extend a huge thank you for all his help and assistance! In the time I've known him he's helped others complete countless suits of armor. He's most definitely a Master Armorer.
  2. Update 10/24: Ordering a new set of AB buttons from Trooper Master. These should improve the look of my armor dramatically. Fixing the butt plate and looking to find a more defined set of ears with more visible ear notches soon. Update 10/25: Butt plate problem solved! Didn't need the heat gun after all. A couple well placed zip ties with the bracket system pulled the whole thing together nicely.
  3. "This shall be a day long remembered." Thank you all for working with me over the past couple of months. Your tips and advice have made this process a lot easier. And no worries. I'll sit back and enjoy my shiny EIB badge for a day or two, then it's back to the armory to continue to make improvements on my kit. I'd also like to thank TK-9492 and TK-1636 who both spent a lot of time helping me with my armor. Without them my dream of being a Trooper would never have happened. For the Empire! - Gabriel Ross (TK-13031) P.S. - I leave you with a photo of my wife and I from our last troop. I'll call this my victory pose. Thanks again!
  4. As requested, here are another set of photos from a troop we completed last night. In this first photo you can hopefully see that I have moved the shoulder bells in further. Unfortunately, due to my body type (broad shoulders and chest), this is as close as I'm able to get them: Taking a look at this photo I noticed my butt plate is bent out of shape from wear and tear. I need to take a heat gun to it and bend it back into position. I plan to do that before the weekend is over. You should be able to see that the cover strips on the back of my lower legs are now much smaller: And here are the necessary side views: And finally a close up shot of the lower cover strips: Hopefully this meets the required standards. Thanks again for looking over my application.
  5. Promised this before, but taking photos this weekend. Trooping A LOT and we keep forgetting to take photos before I gear down. Thanks for your patience.
  6. Thank you! Final photos being uploaded soon.
  7. FINALLY installed the proper D Ring onto the back of my E-11 Blaster. Here is the photo as requested: Eventually I'd like to add a counter and a glass lens to the scope. One step at a time.
  8. I'll have the new set of pictures uploaded after this weekend for sure. We were so busy our last troop we forgot to take photos. Thanks for being patient.
  9. A photo of the new cover strips. These are now the exact width of the other strips on my suit, trimmed down from a much larger 2 inches before:
  10. I'll be suiting up tomorrow. A new set of pictures with the tighter shoulders and new cover strips to follow. I'm going to install the D-Ring we found as well.
  11. After reading some tutorials here, I'm now experimenting with Velcro instead of clips as a way to seal the gap. I like the way this looks A LOT better, though my commanding officer is going to kill me because he hates Velcro with a passion. Ultimately though, I think this just looks so much better. Can Velcro be used in an EIB build is the next question?
  12. I reduced the cover strip size dramatically. They now match the width of the other strips on my suit. I've been having a HORRIBLE time however getting the strips to line up properly along the side of the shin. I don't remember ever showing such a huge gap with my previous cover strips. Granted, they were almost an inch larger in width, but I'm not sure if this is acceptable and/or normal. I've trimmed, used a heat gun and tried everything short of a bacta tank to get these as flush as possible. Here is the final result. Thoughts? I will of course take new full body shots with both shins on if this looks like I'm heading in the right direction. I just needed to check in here first. I'm not very happy with the gap so I'm going to research some other options. Thanks for any feedback.
  13. Currently in hurry up/nightmare mode trying to get these cover strips fixed before my troop this weekend. I've discovered a number of problems that I'm working hard to fix, but if successful my armor should fit me a lot better and no longer require the large cover strips.
  14. Posted an image here of the D-Ring attached to my Hyperfirm but I'm not happy with how it turned out. Going to work on it more. Stand by!
