  1. Someone teach me how to do this.
  2. Ok, I redid the shoulder straps but I can't really tell if there was much of a difference. However I also did the final trimming on my ab and kidney pieces as well as painting them. I wasn't thinking when I did the right side holes and accidently did a hole on the right side of the kidney plate but i'm sure that can be filled in with some kind of paste or spare plastic. I'm also touching up my ear paint and just painted my ab plate. Here are some quick pictures I took, its about 10pm so lighting isn't ideal. I also still need a good place to get thigh garters as well.
  3. Dear lord, and I thought the TK forearms were big on me...
  4. First off, welcome aboard! Moving on, I don't think the task of painting should really scare you. From my experience all you would really need to do to add the blue markings is tape off your helmet and then spray blue paint onto it. If there's one thing i've decided in this hobby, its that if you're going to put this much of an investment into something - do the thing you want the most. Mine being a TK.
  5. Going off the written standards my armor should be up to EIB/Centurion standards (although a lot of that is up to how it looks altogether and not just what it says). I'm almost done with the foam inserts on the biceps and forearms, one more strip to insert into the forearms. Is there a good place to get thigh garters? The thread in the ongoing sales section is no longer selling. Also, I don't have any very good reference photos on the curve of the shoulder straps. These are mine as they stand but I want to redo them and get a more even curve on them. The placement of them is straight from a reference shot. Is there a good way to get them to curve like that or do I just have to eyeball it like I did before?
  6. Do you have some pictures of your helmet collection over yonder? Your armor looks so badass.
  7. I used Krylon Colormaster spray paint to do the gloss white for my helmet. It went on pretty well once I got closer to it. Dries in 10 minutes or less. Works really well in my experience, i'm sure the other colors work just as well.
  8. I guess its only fair that I shamelessly plug in CAP-W as an option. Check with Scootch to see if he has any sets left. Mine was shipped as soon as I put in the order and I got it for the same price I would pay for an ATA set. It's made from the same origins as ATA so from what I can tell they are practically the same armor - save CAP-W being HIPS instead of ABS. But honestly, spray painting it is the easiest part of my build.
  9. I'm just sort of trying to get it done, honestly. I can always revise things to make them to a higher degree of accuracy later.
  10. Oh no, that sounds like something out of a horror film.
  11. Yeah, tried magnets too but the pull on the small ones isnt strong enough and i only have 3 large ones left.
  12. I held it with my hands for around five-ten minutes. If I try to use my clamps, it comes up. And the clamps wont reach inside the bracers anyway.
  13. E6000 is what I used ._. Is it the paint? I painted them black so they would blend in with the undersuit. If it is i'll just cut the bottoms off.
  14. How do you guys go about attaching foam inserts? I attempted glueing but the foam just peels off.
  15. Free shipping is nice, saved me about $8. Alright, all my snaps and elastic is en route, cost about $40.
  16. They 'might' work, they look about half an inch taller than my nolitas that weren't tall enough.
  17. Put foam inserts into the forearms, mine are big on me as well. That should close the space.
  18. I don't have an ATA kit so I don't know which comes with it, but this is S trim: ----------- I imagine C trim is just that without the bottom part that makes it an S.
  19. I think it should be fine. The chest and back plates aren't that heavy
  20. I have a helmet strap and fitting foam in the mail from good ol trooperbay. I'll be getting more spray paint tomorrow. I'll likely use the fitting strips on my forearms, thighs, and possibly biceps. Then I still need to order those snaps and straps. Did that white elastic I found look alright to you? I don't think you responded to that.
  21. Yep, I believe I do. And its good to see i'm not the only one who doesn't sleep here.
  22. Yeah, my kidney doesnt have a notch on it. I've just been going on which way seems to fit better. I have a tiny trim mark that i use to show which side i believe is up.
  23. Ah, perfection. I'll research the installation of those and i will be well on my way to the finish line. Edit: Seems that is out of stock, would this be an acceptable alternative? http://www.amazon.com/Dritz-9319W-Stretch-Waistband-Elastic/dp/B004KYZ3QS/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1406790126&sr=8-5&keywords=dritz+white+elastic
  24. Would these be right? Three yards would be plenty. http://www.joann.com/black-braided-elastic/11384468.html#q=black+elastic&start=12 These seems to be the right snaps, might need two or three packs though. http://www.amazon.com/Dritz-Heavy-Duty-Snaps-White/dp/B001HZQZVU/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1406778330&sr=8-3&keywords=dritz+%2324+snaps Not having much luck with the white canvas strips for the shoulders, what search terms did you use for that?
  25. Once you have the cap n back trimmed, just clamp it on with clamps through the eyes and adjust it until you get the brow in the spot you like. Then you'll need to give it a little persuading and push in the piece where the screw connects the cap n back to the faceplate and make sure everything comes together right. Once those are drilled and screws installed, its just a matter of getting that sweet spot with the ears and screwing them in. Its all downhill from here. I spent the most time out of my entire helmet build trimming the eyes.
