  1. The details are unsurprisingly a little soft in the face--but not overwhelmingly. The traps on the cap n' back are quite pronounced, though. Maybe just a touch too high on the temple traps--at least compared to my ATA. You can tell that they have been reworked to bring out definition. Ears were okay but the screws that came with them were the wrong size--too big. Also know that it didn't come with a visor or S or U trim. I don't think mine came with hovi-mix mic tips either. Can't speak on if they do now or not.... For what it's worth, ATA helmets are a good deal and come with all the goodies to build (and extra ears even). I think you'd be better served with it than an eFX.
  2. Sweet! Looks awesome!
  3. Yes, do the fronts first--they are more crucial for getting the right look. On mine, the fronts look pretty decent (with 23mm cover strips), but I had to do a little work on the back to get them looking acceptable. My thighs are relatively thick at the top from cycling so there was actually about a half inch gap when I joined up the rear. This gap was covered with the cover strip--which was wider than usual (26mm)--and I inserted a wedge to fill in the gap. As you can see, I tapered the rear cuts so that I wouldn't end up with thick cylindrical thighs. I'm not 100% happy with the backs of the thighs, but they'll do until I upgrade to new armour.
  4. I showed this before...sort of like our 501st logo:
  5. Yup, I agree with Mathias that if you've kept up with recent builds and EIB/Centurion applications none of this comes at a surprise. Very positive step forward towards increasing accuracy. Glad to see it implemented....
  6. Hello fellow Garrison mate! My initial foray into TK armour started off as an art project--I wanted to paint some armour with First Nations art. I was clueless about all the nuances of the armour and eventually found my way onto FISD. I couldn't believe that anyone cared about such geeky details and thought it was a bit ridiculous. Little did I know, I would soon become obsessed like everyone else! Following common recommendations and my pocketbook, I got on ATA's interminable wait list for a full kit. I was able to order a couple buckets to satisfy my obsession for a while, but I was chomping at the bit to get the full armour. Anyways, I found CTM Props and thought I'd practice my skills on that kit until my ATA came in. By the time my armour order was ready, my finances were not so I had to regretfully cancel my ATA order. I'm sure someone else on the list was happy, though.... Rather than wallow in self-pity, I finished up the CTM kit (with ATA bucket) and applied for the 501st. I figured I may as well get into this trooping bit, too. Anyways, long story short, I made it work and it looks pretty decent. I'm still debating if I should apply for EIB or not. With that said, my next full kit is definitely gonna be Troopermaster.... If I can answer any specific questions, let me know.... Here's a picture of me on the beach yesterday:
  7. Wow...awesome work! I agree, we NEED a run of these.
  8. I would take a look at this thread: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/24869-abs-vs-pvc/?hl=%2Bpvc#entry320321
  9. As far as I know, that front seam would not pass for Centurion....
  10. I don't think the new Rebels stormtrooper is THAT dissimilar to a certain trooping legion's logo.... With that said, they could have done better in my estimation. ---------------
  11. They are #4 brass flathead slot bolts. I usually pick up a couple different lengths, but the soft brass makes it pretty easy to trim in place.
  12. Yup, I followed those size recommendations and they turned out too wide. Thankfully, judicious use of a toothpick allowed me to get them down to a more acceptable width.
  13. PVC will not work with acetone. Not that I'm an expert or anything, but to my eye many of your return edges seem a tad wide. Perhaps you can trim them and use them in acetone?
  14. Awesome news! Thanks Soren!
  15. I'd start out as an ANH TK. Build it up, troop it and try it out. If you still have the urge to get dirty, change out the sniper plate and ab details, remove the shoulder strap and break out the weathering materials. It's easier to go that direction than cleaning up your armour and after weathering. Plus, the initial cost would be less as you could put off buying the pauldron, pouches, pack and BFG. Also, it'd be pretty painless to go ESB down the road if you still have that urge. Good luck with your choice! Personally, I want to save up for a TM TK and then dirty up my existing kit. Best of both worlds.
  16. It'd definitely be nice if he could offer it as a kit. It would sure make it less prohibitive to ship in any case. If you're in touch with him, maybe put the bug in his ear (hint, hint).
  17. I like the sounds of the Mk3.... I might be able to get it into Canada since it is in a number of pieces and more clearly a "model kit". The E11 kits have had no issues getting through Customs so hopefully this wouldn't either.
  18. I'm totally interested, too. Any updates John?
  19. You can see the FX-kids lid looks most egregious in the side view--although the other views aren't that great either. I have full confidence that my son is gonna look a lot better in his upgraded kit. Now on to the chest, back and arms....
  20. Here is a comparison of the 3 helmets shown at the beginning of this build. L-R ATA, WTF, FX-Kids:
  21. Finally got around to finish painting the bucket. I wish I could devote more time to this. Anyways, here I've masked the back to freehand the vents on the rear traps:
  22. Both your picture and your build are great!
  23. TK-42124 from the Badlands Garrison, Outer Rim Squad requesting access.... http://www.501st.com/members/displaymemberdetails.php?userID=16185
