how I cut my AM chest
DizzyStormtrooper replied to DizzyStormtrooper's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I won't bother with a return edge, it looks sharper that way and I'm not going for specialist anytime soon if return edges are required. Plus it seems like I didn't leave enough material for an edge anyway. any shorter might look like a bra lol. Its just enough where I don't quite have the Luke thing going on -
I have links of hd and low def ones, you have to use a combination of both for the full suit. The hd ones were ripped from one of the games, I think it was galaxies or something. But they're saved on my laptop, I'll post them in the evening. You can google spacecowboy rpf stormtrooper helmet, but make sure you get the V2, the first one didn't have edges for assembly.

basically i used the top of the ab plate, put it over my chest plate, and cut there.. if you know what i mean. im 5'9" so the sides of the chest originally were touching my hips. its sort of like the "reshape fx chest" tutorial but i used the ab plate shape as a stencil, the chest still over laps the ab, i still have to cut the sides off though for accuracy and glue the shoulder straps on. what you guys think? side question, how much you think i should cut off the bottom of the shoulders? im thinking an inch or 2 max

Which hasbro blaster? (year? disney? etc..)
DizzyStormtrooper replied to Redforce's topic in ANH BlasTech E11
The difference between primer and self etching primer is that se has a zinc acid (or something) that eats a little bit into steel so the paint doesn't flake off from metal. I've never used se primer on plastic but I would assume problems would arise. Krylon fusion is made for plastic. -
Doesn't everyone do that in their armor underwater? They only say stay away from ebay cuz that armor floats making it hard to shake your junk.

Idk who that is, the hands and back he sells are FX/AM. Not sure if recast or AM's other half

FX vs AM vs "new AM"
DizzyStormtrooper replied to DizzyStormtrooper's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
So I learned the "new am" is now referred as NE. And after reading about it on MEPD, holy rebellion! Recast discussions about it being from RS oh boy. Firstly after seeing those pics, either its recast and cleaned up or they're really trying to be as screen accurate as possible and its working. I for one don't think NE is RS derived. at least not all the way, the shoulders and biceps look alike, and the back is a little off but the chest has slight differences that RS didn't have. I like the AM because its sharp, angular, has an essence of "idealized" stormtrooper armor. It was symmetrical and not like the wonkyness of the screen suits. It looked like how a "real" stormtrooper would be IMO. But I don't like where the NE is going. All that should've been changed was the helmet, chest, back, and hand plates cuz they were too big for most hands but I digress. The point of this thread was the differences so without further ado, the hand plates are smaller, the bottom of the chest is no longer deep on the sides, the back is more accurate, and the helmet is much better now. No updates yet or clarity to if pieces are in fact recast, but thank the force the molds for the old helmet are long gone! -
My own shiny new resin E11 parts kit
DizzyStormtrooper replied to stormtrooperguy's topic in General Weapons Discussion
I'll be watching for the Hasbro part -
Go to a rc/ model shop or even your ace hardware might have some. The ones here have aisles with models. Michaels too

At least build it for the experience, worst case scenario it doesn't get approved, its not like hes losing anything lol (besides the cost spent on it if another armor replaces it). I never actually seen what those ones look like assembled

If you're gonna buy black armor on Ebay get it from mypropcollection

Short Armor
DizzyStormtrooper replied to Shortstormtrooper's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Its pretty much scaling the torso and helmet, as to avoid the "bobblehead" effect. My helmet is smaller than most cuz I have AM armor so I had a LOT of material left for cover strips though i'm screen height, so I couldn't use the big helmet, if that makes sense.. -
Short Armor
DizzyStormtrooper replied to Shortstormtrooper's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
My gf is 4'11" and I think I'll have to make her armor. There's only so much you can trim from a standard size before you look like Luke.. -
I have black ones if you want to paint them

Horrendous T/MC builds...
DizzyStormtrooper replied to Horrendous's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
I like the helmet, it should come in black hint hint tray we spec ops don't have many choices -
CF is expensive, its 2 times lighter than steel and 6 times stronger. A cf hood for your car runs about $600, this bucket is only around $200 worth in materials, it has to be baked in a vacuum not like fiberglass which hardens on its own. there were 3 full suits made, the workers at that cf company said the cost would be about the same as "a nice car". But yeah that's too much for just the helmet

Pepakura HALO Mk VI armor build
DizzyStormtrooper replied to boomshakra's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
HJC is the way to go. Tint is impossible to get into a spherical shape. Vinyl stretches when its heated up, but tint shrinks! some have used liquid tint, kind of like a dye you dip the clear visor into, with some luck but its tricky to use. When I did my MC helmet I did it black with removable static cling window tint from Walmart -
Dark Troopers?
DizzyStormtrooper replied to Vwooooshenator's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance

Anybody remember Saberforge?? Lol but yeah i've heard good things on ultras.

As I finish up my AM build I see some old FX kits and wonder what are the differences? I'm not as keen eyed as some of you with the details but the AM looks more proportional, and the torso is wider, but I can't be sure. Anyone had both kits? Second, what's the news with the "new AM" kit? last I knew the molds were being finished and I never got to see any pictures cuz the link was deleted. What has changed since the AM?

Pepakura HALO Mk VI armor build
DizzyStormtrooper replied to boomshakra's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Yeah definitely do the harder/more detailed stuff first. That way you learn faster and the bigger pieces are easier. When I did my pep stormtrooper I did the ab and cod first, then arms, so the chest and legs were a breeze. I think you are applying too much bondo at once, id suggest thin layers like an onion, it cuts down on effort and the bondo dust getting everywhere -
Briefs might show through in flash pictures, I wear dark colored boxerbriefs so they don't show through and its more manageable to tuck in when putting the compression pants on. Doesn't roll up or fold over creating unwanted lumps where the thighs don't cover. And still gives some support so there's no, you know, pinching

I've been trying to settle this for years! I always say O2 canister. In the film, we saw those space troopers aka stormtroopers with scuba tanks outside on the death star. We know the thermal detonators are silver balls you use when trying to persuade jabba to cough up more dough. When have you ever seen a stormtrooper throw a detonator? In Battlefront the grenades were silver ball kind. Lastly TD means sand trooper! Sandy's don't have O2 cans like stormies cuz they have a big backpack that supplies air or whatever. The same control panel on ours is glued to the long tube on a sandy, indicting from the screen that that could be an elongated O2 can, implying they need longer air time in the harsher environments.
