  1. Yeah your arm fat bunches up and you get bit
  2. Just go with what works but stretch the wrinkles out in the exposed areas like elbows and knees for approval pictures. Comfort matters
  3. Lowes or ace hardware, look in both plumbing and electrical conduit sections, be sure its not pvc glue. Id suggest use e6 for your whole build since its your first, and you can always move the snap plates so the armor fits your body better
  4. Hospitals. You don't have to troop, just walk around. Make sure there's extra blood on your armor. Try going around the psych ward! Just use common sense lol. Obviously dt's aren't kid friendly, but there's probably someone with a haunted house that could hire you. And body language is important around youngins. You can cover the zombie mask part with your hands as if you're more afraid of them so they'll open up a bit. Or dance around happily like a clown, not doing Thriller or jumping around like a maniac. You could even simply stand still the whole time so if they see you're a prop, they might be more willing to get in the picture. People got to realize how important body language is.
  5. Gaz pretty much said it all. I would suggest using white primer if you can find it, but using grey you can tell if the main gloss is even all around. Just depends on your painting experience. I've done full size cars to plastic model kits for years. 2 different worlds those are.
  6. The cold weather one has the mock neck, the evapor has the crew neck. I have the mock but I don't notice any difference in material. They say you have to be running or working to generate the heat and the cold gear just holds it in better.
  7. Eastbay evapor compression gear ftw.
  8. Or white electrical tape and a gold chain to bring back the Adidas trooper
  9. There's a tutorial on how to make abs paste somewhere around here. if you really really can't do it in time there's always clear packaging tape for the outside and duct tape on the inside. They make red duct tape but Idk if it's the same shade as the armor. The public isn't going to be checking out your legs. Mostly they look at the helmets, chest, blaster, abs, the fact that you're there pretty much. It's when they see your face or Velcro popping out somewhere that takes the fantasy out of perspective lol
  10. Lol if you have armor problems just talk to me. Sand the area with around 200 grit, get some scrap abs the length of the crack and wide enough the join the sides. Sand the contact side. Get a metal ruler or equivalent and a heat gun, heat it up and fold it with the ruler enough to fit the curve then glue it in with e6 or abs paste. Then fill in the crack with abs paste and smooth it over. sand until smooth, then finish it by sanding with a finer grit like 400 to 500 and paint/clear it or just go 1000 grit and polish it to a shine. inb4 someone says just contact the maker for new pieces.
  11. I have the answer but I'll wait to tell you. Is it hips or abs
  12. Everybody was skinny in the 70's
  13. hot glue on HIPS will melt it... you can also dab the foam in a little e6000, then use magnets or tape so it doesnt slide as it dries
  14. Yeah you pretty much just answered your own question. I don't think the UA mountain liner gloves have that palm patch. The cold gear ones do
  15. whats that on the grip, knurled plastic?
  16. Which mic do you have? Some "unidirectional" mics are battery powered. The standard aker is amp powered
  17. No way would I bring a metal blaster to a con
  18. for a short answer, esb is an anh but moved holsters to the right hip, jedi had upside down buttons, all white shoes, trim around the torso pieces, and reshaped shoulder bells. the blasters were different as well.
  19. No no, the insides were designed to be cut the way you have it. Line up the wrists and cut the extra triangle off at the elbow. The AM ones weren't long enough so these allow the extra space to avoid the uneven look the AMs had where the cover strip hid the discrepancy. You need to cut vertically first. See the other NE builds and do what they did.
  20. Vern I agree completely. I think (who it applies to) is afraid of making it too easy though. iirc getting armor used to be restricted strictly to pm's and discussing prices in threads wasn't allowed. It would help out tremendously if it was as simple as turning the "where to get armor" thread into a "who what where and how much to get armor" thread. But that was just so Lucas wouldn't be chasing after us, as I recall however the legion made a deal that we wouldn't essentially do what AA did, which we don't, but it still wouldn't hurt to openly say to people "hey, you'll be spending around a grand" in addition to the armor maker info. I've seen people turned off from getting a costume cuz all they see is $2000 licensed replicas and don't realize one could have there own, accurate, quality suit for around 500 and build up from there. Furthermore the clone detachment still seems to stick to the old rule. They don't even HAVE a where to get armor thread. What, afraid of getting chewed out by CGI artists? Its not like someone ripped the 3D clone model files from the Lucasfilm archives. I wish it was easier over there.
  21. 1. There are a lot of new members that like to make new posts about stuff that's already posted. Yeah the search function is subpar at best, but before I got my armor I was reading tutorials and other peoples build threads like the dickens! It seems in the excitement of not being able to move in a bunch of tupperware, recruits these days have lost the ability to read. And sometimes they don't listen, therefore making a new NEW thread about how they were told something, and need further reassurance. I thought we had a mentor program?... The unnessesary one question threads are clogging the system man.. Using up your data.. 2. The sale section needs to be cleaned out. There are hundreds of "sold" threads months old that should be deleted to clear up some space. I can see keeping them up "last 30 days after sale" for any communication or clarification issues, but those ones from 4 years ago, we don't need those. an exception can be made for the ongoing orders section. 3. I have never seen any African American members in any detachment of the legion! wassup with that? I mean sure describing stormtrooper fan club "a group of a thousand guys in white uniforms"... But come on now. Thatsth justht thilly!
  22. I actually like threads like this. I like to learn about where armor comes from, not necessarily how, but this is the kind of great info that isn't in the armor history threads. I didn't even know tk4510 sold armor or mtk was a thing til last month! As a neutral party, as long as there are suppliers of affordable, quality, accurate armors, we can keep recruiting new members and expanding the legion.
  23. I used to use photo *uck-it, back when I had a Myspace BAHahaha... Flickr is more user friendly and well put together IMO
  24. I use Flickr, then click share and grab the bbcode
