  1. This is what I am talking about: ------ If I use the center of the canvas, the belt velcro area is way off to the right... ------ ...but I can counter this by adjusting the canvas belt to make an accurate "center". Will this be problematic?
  2. but...i think not using the center of the canvas makes more since I will only have to alter one end of the canvas belt. I am looking for info of anyone has tried this. To try to understand better what the ramifications might be.
  3. Any TKs on the thin side (32/34 waist) out there using a trooperbay canvas belt? If I use the middle of my canvas belt to mark where the ABS belt is attached, then I end up with 6" of extra canvas. I understand how I can easily make thet canvas belt the correct size, but I keep hearing that I should use the middle of the canvas belt to mark where to attach the ABS belt. Does anyone on FISD have actual experience decreasing the length of the canvas belt to suit there waist size? Please share!
  4. What is the benefit of using smaller snaps? I would like to know before I travel back to the fabric store...
  5. May I see a picture of your chicago screws and holster? I have 1/4" chicago screws but I think they are too big.
  6. I will ultimately seek Centurion status. Looking for ideas on how to assemble my belt and attach it to my armor. Specifically, how to attach the holster top the belt. Pictures are most helpful. Thanks!
  7. Thanks, Carl. I will work on this. It is just a 3 streps forward, 2 steps back kinda feeling, ya know? And I worry if there are other pieces I have assembled incorrectly.
  8. Of course, I will. But I am going to be irritated tonite, and approach the problem tomorrow. Thanks for your input!
  9. Sigh. I spent so long working on these. What a waste. I wish *somebody*had mentioned this critical detail beforehand. There really needs to be more images on the CRL, from all sides, with details on what should line up with what. A lot of wasted effort and materials.
  10. Thanks. So I guess I am wondering why can't I simply cut down the tops of the thighs to look accurate? I mean, the parts where the arrows are on my pics are not formed exactly as they appear in the film so where is the standard coming from?
  11. A fellow TK in my Garrison pointed out to me that my thighs may not be assembled correctly. That they may not pass me into the 501st and certainly won't allow me to achieve centurion status (which is the ultimate goal here). While I am indebted to my friend for pointing out a potential disaster, I am hesitant to rip it all apart after all the labor I put into it. I have attempted to follow the CRL and have used screen shots to attempt to mirror how they looked in the film. So I would like to hear from the FISD community. Please advise. The areas indicated with an arrow are in question as far as how the two halves line up. The areas with a red line show what my plan was - and where I was going to sand the thighs down so that everything looked even.
  12. Interesting...i did not know of the existence of this stuff. Have you ever used this on your armor our any other similar ABS, TK5144? Was there any harm done?
  13. Help! I am nearing the end of this build, I can finally feel it, and I managed to get a dime size amount of CA on the right shin. Any tips on removing / polishing it away?
  14. Very informative newsletter! What are these coins you speak of?
  15. E6000 holds quite well! I have even been successful using it on velcro that already has that piss poor adhesive attached to it!
  16. But you are using something other than the adhesive that comes attached to industrial strength velcro, correct? Because that is what I am talking about when I say it fails.
  17. Okay, I think I will try E6000 gluing the velcro to the foam. I have heard many stories of how the industrial velcro adhesive fails in hot weather. I *do*.live in Texas...
  18. What does everyone use to attach foam padding to the inside of their armor (for example, the forearms, shins), and how exactly are you doing it so that it lasts through all the trooping?
  19. Thanks! I was just asking about the brow trim, but that is a helpful S trim tip that I didn't know I would need ! 8^)
