riveting replied to whiteandnerdy's topic in Off Topic
Yep brings to mind Han shooting Greedo first in the cantina scene & she was a woman to boot filthy rebels'es <_< -

Cracked article on why Stormtroopers are such bad shots

Thats a good new slant on it I always thought it was down to the inverse ninja law? or aka the Principle of Evil marksmanship. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principle_of_Evil_Marksmanship I think I prefer your idea. -

riveting replied to riveting's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Thanks Rob, I'm aware of a few threads across the forums but thought it would be nice to see something posted here, afterall it's sole purpose is the TK & not a side note thread like other places? it was just a thought! -
Stormtrooper Suit & Helmet Surfaces
riveting replied to riveting's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
just wondered if the owner would share any more of the backstory on this awesome piece here? I'd be really keen to here what the kit has been upto over the years, where it was found? has it been stuck in the attic? displayed in the front room? any tit bit's? ect ect ect These original prop stories are always a cool read. -
Oh! thanks for the info Joe must have been an oversight on the new site they have maybe I got mixed up with the one that went for $$,$$$ at auction. I guess everthing is for sale depending on how much $$$ you throw at the owner? But maybe a prop collector may have more reliable information than my annotations?

Congrats Damian on the postmark count & this one is for your ethos toward the hobby
-
I was'nt sure if this or general disscusion was the arena to post? But thought I'd add it here as it's ROTJ & I'm sure there are other fan's of the final film. http://www.propstore.com/rotjhelmet.htm as of the 5th of Nov those lucky folks over at the propstore have this beauty. on a side note they have lot's of other cool stuff too.

Me too Joe here's a brief update as I'm stripping back the paintjob with some wet n' dry so the lid looks really dull for now. Here's something I forgot to mention earlier & it's probably insignificant the steps in the slim earcaps. it's getting there.....slowly <_<
-
Thanks for uploading these. Unfortunatly it was an hour & half download time for me & only Stormtrooper> tantive iv & Death star files were downloaded. Hey jedislayer5000 well spotted it was a mix of CGI & live action in the "special edition". <_<
-
Thanks Guy's I like the creamy biscuit colour of the lid but realy love the on screen goodness of the ewok beating trooper :ewok1: , in all it's white & shiney glory so descided to paint the lid. Here's a poormans paint shop but it does the trick. the first layers of undercoat. & a close up pic as I can't get enough of messing around with this which was part of the excuse to paint it.
-
I'm on broadband & it's saying over 1 hour & 30 mins to download, I'm not too familiar with the megaupload site! is the time to load correct?? would love to see these pic's.
-
You can use two layers of film gel, a few folks do that. Just like seen on the big screen on the outside but nice n' dark on the inside & no need for hot glue. Either a bit of stickytape or hold them in place by the ear screws.
-
The lids more often than not are poorly assembled & I suspect more than just the battle spec are modified from the original mold & no I don't want to start a bash, I have one of his early kit's. John's correct, It's a brittle kit but yep it does look nice out of the box.
-
Its been a while since i've seen an SDS kit, good luck with the build , considering AA has been offering "spare parts" for a while I guess an unbuilt kit would be the next step?
-
Thanks Guy's & thanks for the pic's Joe/Mark , Managed to glue the lid together based on the shot's. small close up. I know the part I've played is less than perfect but practice makes perfect ohhh even more screen acurate lid coming down the pipeline
-
Thanks Joe, As soon as I'm back on broadband instead of dial up I'll dofo have more pic's to show of this uber cool lid.
-
Thanks Guys, Yeah Steve I think I'm also a little burnt out with all the ANH goodness thats been on offer in the past , Thats excluding superflexy of course & Hero lids also thanks trooper18938 Here's a quick link to one of the many ways to bubble lenses, as soon as I've finished with a couple of projects, I'll do another alternative how too make deep bubble lenses without affecting your lid. heres an older way "how too" but be carefull depending on the material your lid is made from. http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?showtopic=4954 So here's a realy good in-focus view of my old PJ's sadly the lid seam's a second part of the pic, but by no means should it, with super bubble green stuff. a bit of back n' cap trimming, mic tip's thrown on, brow trim added & we start to see a loosly assembled mean n'moody ROTJ lid
-
Thanks guy's Just hope I do it justice, it's been a long while Well any way I managed cut the eye socket's out & made some lense's, there only loosly in but you get the idea. I have to add, cutting the helmet is like cutting through butter with a warm knife, Keith was'nt kidding this is a realy great lid to work with
-
I make it no secret, I love ROTJ lids, it's one of the best looking lids on my entire helmet collecting shelf. thats my 2c So I thought I'd share the assembly as I'm sure there are other Jedi fans here. Here's how it is out of the box, in all it's wonky S.A. glory. very generously undertrimmed it gives plenty of room to maneuver for whatever rotj lid you might wana do. Just need to get my behind onto gear & get this work underway, thats along with my other projects

How to bleach yellow armor back to white, anyone?
riveting replied to GuntahKela's topic in Tutorials, Tips and HOWTOs
I've had some good results using diluted bleech on yellowing but only on small areas, nothing the size of a full kit. whatever you use Good luck & keep us posted
