As Paul highlighted above, pictures would greatly help in sharing advice, it could be just a case of snaps on elastics n pop's?, also have you reached out to RS for them to furnish customer support?

Hi Ian, Some of the "larger companies" may have contracts with the shipping company's and the cost may be way way lower than what's already quoted? hopefully! In my brief experience, shipping rom the UK was usually generally lower than items received from the states, however depending on which US based currier the vendor chose to use! Also when I was living up in FNQ a few yrs back, I recall kit was being pulled within and advertised inside AU, Maybe someone more local to you has more knowledge of those specifics?
-
I hope the quotes come back low for you Ian, If it helps, When I was over in NZ the postage costs from RS, on the few kits I bought was extremely reasonable... at the time!. I'm interested to see how it is now.

There sure to be a couple of ppl on here selling these items, else ebay has several sellers, I'd personally not recommend the boiled water method (unless however) you have a buck for the lenses? or a FG lid? hope this helps? it looks like its coming along nicely continued good luck wished

http://www.starwarshelmets.com/imperialfanGF.htm Didn't GF also tread the boards over the rpf not long back? I'd be keen to see how this kit looks today, one of the RS kits I've got is starting to look like a banana & it isn't any way near as old as this GF! hope its cool to add the Hx link? I also second Deatrin's comment maybe back then it was easy to tell?

Yip that it is Whilst overseas I worked out how too and made 3 "posed display mannequins" all in a slightly different pose, in prep for the display that I have in my head lol They were free standing, self balanced, super light where they needed to be & made from paper and cost less than $30nzd each, I left 1 behind and binned the other two, figuring their cheap to make, but crieky have costs in the UK gone up since I left. when I move again?? I plan on remaking them, so might put up a how too thread if folks are interested?

To add a little if that's cool, I've experimented with a few sizes of neoprene foam cord and you'd do well to factor in the top material aswell and the stitch style too, else that can and will throw the look way off for size. Ive been working on a new pattern myself and would be keen to hear how you get on.

lol good Q: I have three TKs left & AFAIR 6/7? lids, sadly they've been in storage a while now . I suppose I'd like to sell on one of the the RS kits and maybe get a another TM again? So...... possibly become a Stormtrooper in the future when I get settled and get everything back & then back onto the three TK display with Vader, like my original plan that I always wanted

Presently just outside of York, but possibly moving closer to the seaside soon?

Thanks for the welcome guys , hopefully I'll only add to the beneficence of the forum and our community. Although I do have a couple of potential future (how too) threads already in mind, aswell as the odd short run or sales thread, if folks are interested?

HI all, I wanted to return to the forum formally, now that I have returned from my OS experience & I considered it good curtesy to drop in here and say "hi yawl". I will endeavor to read through the back posts, when I've time permitting although I have lurked on occasion over the years; so its not all fresh news. I anticipate posting up a sales thread or two (if that's still cool)? As I would like to add to my TK collection again and this incurs the selling off of some treasured items or even means making the offer of a short run of some TK related items, this I can do, now that I have returned to the the UK without the crippling costs of the NZ/au postal service.

No Screws, yep I agree despite the labeled drawing I don't think the hook & bar made too much impact into the kit overall. In favour of the glued in elastic but I'm still not sure about the chest & back & how thats connected to the ab plate?, any more ideas?. I've still got "bar's" on the brain -

Hi Mathias, it's nice to be back although I was never too far away I see a lot of reference to Hook's & bar's, not much evidance of glue though, maybe a bar running through the sewn over elastic? good point BJ! the velcro maybe was one way it was added to? any other thought's? I'm trying to finally sort out my kit -

Is there any info on the "Hook & bar" method of attaching the elastic webbing to the chest plate? appologies if I missed it elsewhere. -
Has any one tried PAX?
riveting replied to riveting's topic in Boots, Soft Parts, and other Accessories
Great Tip Thanks Vern. Any pic's of turning back to white? I guess I'd have to import it too. -
Hi guy's, I was getting my boots out of the wardrobe & yet again they need repainting/dying as the stuff keeps cracking/peeling. Which led me to think about PAX paint, I've used it in the past on foam prosthetics with good effect but it's not cheap if it's a mix with prosaide, so I thought I'd ask if anybody here had attempted it & if so thought's on the matter. "bother? don't bother?" I looked through the threads & could'nt find anything conclusive. for those unfamiliar with prosaide? it's basically a surgical glue that keeps the paint it's mixed with flexible, it's expensive to waste but might be worth it if I don't have to keep spraying the boots so often. So Any thoughts?
