  1. Oh,that´s enough?I must cut nothing from this parts(orange markings)? Sorry Mark I havn't explained myself clearly, Yes the plastic marked in the orange gets cut away aswell And what decals are you using for the blue stripes on the tubes?Or are they painted?I´ve stripes from trooperdecals.com,but under direct daylight, they are looking more violet as blue. The Tube stripes are hand painted using Humbrol mediterranean blue & electrical tape as wide guide's as in post 1 & the original stripes as rough templates to paint over. hope this helps
  2. There's been a few MRLE's amonst the pile but not many. Well I never knew there was an appeal for licenced stuff guess you learn something new everyday & I thought I'd been in the hobby a while now
  3. No prob's I should have done this first time round I guess, all these spacer post's in the red circles have to go
  4. You would imagine collectors would have been gouging on lid's of late. Isn't Fleabay saturated with helmets right now & has been for the past few week's & not just the cheap MR stuff, I've seen some awesome Lid's going for very few dollars, some so low it's almost criminal!
  5. one last mod I was asked for was to open the mouth. using a needle file, file upwards on the top tooth gap & downwards on the bottom gap finally I paint the theeth slightly exaggarated & mouth elongated to give it a meaner frown & hay presto the best £40 pound's I've spent this week hope it's ok to post these last mod's & thanks for moving the thread
  6. Here's an alternative method but it may leave a small indent where the knife goes in. slide a thin strong knife down the earcap, then using repair kit jemmy's prize a small gap, then cut the lug away, there may be a popping sound then cut the spacer post's of the helmet & repeat the first post with the earcaps
  7. the SRW150 has altered somewhat from the original though but the US52 from seals direct is the same. Dos'nt the lip on the rubber happen due to it following the curve around the brow??
  8. thanks Mark, I removed a small bit of the flashing in the eye sockets with a needle file, I also used the same file to open up half the frown, the other half needs to be completed. The screws I used were X3 straight slot, countersunk 4mm by 25mm long, machine screws, you might want to cut down the screw by the bottom of the earcap or it may hit your head! hope this helped
  9. I mentioned this on another thread but had no pic's at the time to show & so today was a slow day so I descided to mod my nxt MRCE. first remove the foam from inside the helmet where the ears would be. then hold the helmet up to a bright light & you will see inside the helmet the general place where the ear cap's are outside. Make a small pilot hole dead centre of the earcap shadow. hand drill with a 6mm bit, from inside the helmet carefully & if on target, the lug holding the earcap cover (the thing with the bumps) will fall away gently. then remove the now exposed earcap screw's. all three using electrical tape as a guide to a new uniform straight edge on the earcap & using a kraft knife, cut away the excess white stuff. now re-attached the earcap assembly using 4mm countersunk screw's & tipex white. last pic is of the subtle difference that the ears before (right facing) & after (left facing) now show. if anybody has an easier way to do this please do share any & all comments welcome
  10. I'd go ANH first then build the tension for a few week's, then show em ESB and then I'd leave it at that I'm sad to say <_< even bobsled's din't go down hill that fast in the eighties
  11. Any update on this? or any more cool pic's? I've been looking forward to this heaps
  12. I was thinking something more like this, but only in the barrel as I don't want to ruin the azimuth scope or is this too OTT??
  13. I went yes, it's not a perfect world as my spelling often show's <_< . As long as all the main components are there. But I will still try reach for the stars with my armor though
  14. Thanks Guy's & pm sent Luke , most of the De ac's I found were topping out at around the £600 -£750 mark. I just stumbled on the site that sold this by accident because it sells combat/Kung fu gear. There were also one or two I found cheaper than the big buck's out there but they would only deliver to a business Addy. So now I've sterling in hand & I'm officially a member of a re enactment club to-boot with the purchase, so all I need is to work on re enacting a conflict that happened a long time ago in a galaxy far far away... once I get to grips with the mod I will post progress pic's. SO what's the stance here on Lasers
  15. Wow, some day's are worth getting up early for. It was after about three day's surfing around in total that I picked this up for £150 delivered, from a UK shop. It needs a lot of TLC I know but the SFS have already taken the mag down for me, so one less job for me to do, I just need to find a stock now, Anybody Help
  16. Well put Liz Chin Up Pat, I use to hide this hobby it too, especially after the looks I use to get but not anymore if ppl don't like it, tuff! It makes me happy & my freinds n' family all get to have a laugh whilst running round in my Helmets.
  17. If it's the rubber on the "brow trim" then it's US52 from here ---------- not sure about a USA outlet but sure someone will chip in. hope this helps
  18. congrat's it's not an easy descision to make but it's one of very mannnnnnyyy in this hobby.
  19. How did you try reshape them? did you heat them up?, also will you be altering the holes in the frown anymore?
  20. Maybe start with the Stunt, that way you can troop comfortably without headaches from the lenses, then go for the Hero & have a choice. My experience of "what ppl think is. "Oh Look it's a chap dressed up in plastic like a Stormtrooper " regardless of which lid lastly, if you get into it. It might not be a matter of which Lid.... but how many Lid's are enough Just my 2cent's, Poll's seam to popular!
  21. Comparison shot even better, Cool pic, thanks Mike
  22. Looks really good very cool indeed
  23. Thanks for posting the pic, it's great finding these old gems popin up
