  1. 3) The helmet is noisy : yep you heard me! the MR pieces are glued together but all the joins still flex and rub together making it very creaky and noisy, this is fine if you don't use an amp just don't move your head while you talk.

    4) A MR helmet won't match any Armour (color wise) without a respray

I have an MRCE and it's solid. Of course, I did a full tear down and reassemble.

Technically speaking the helmets not matching the armor color-wise is screen accurate.

  2. So we trooped a holiday parade on Saturday in freezing rain. The gloves I'm currently using are really cheap cotton based gloves and they just soaked up all the water and got really really cold. It was like having my hands soaked in freezing water for 2 hours.

I'm looking for some good gloves that are either waterproof or at least weatherproofed. How well do the Nomex gloves work? Are the cheap black rubber gloves good?

    Suggestions?

  3. I use Daetrin as a online handle as there are numerous Paul's around and it gets too confusing remembering which John, Peter, etc. people are talking about - it's nice to have something unique. My lastname also is kinda dorky, so I didn't want to use that.

I don't know what you mean about too many Pauls (esp. on this forum) :)

Murray is a nickname I earned in highschool, and I've used it for almost all of my online handles for years. It gets too hard to keep track of people by there TK# in various forums and websites. I can remember online names much easier than TK #s.

  4. The THX comes from one of Lucas's student short films called Electric Labyrinth THX 1138 4EB (THX 1138 4EB - USA Title) which is where the security costumes in "Fanboys" come from. They are designed like the security costumes from the THX movie. Lucas wrote it and made it as part of his film studies. So he does like continuity doesn't he???

I know, I'm a trivia geek, goes along with the Star Wars geek thing. :D

I don't think it matters how you display your ID, but when I'm officially a TI :tie: designation, I'm definitely using a hyphen just to set it off from the numbers.

THX-1138 was made into a full length feature. Not a bad movie, weird, worth a rental.

  5. *Factoid: In the earlier scripts from Lucas, it was actually listed at "TX", not TK :)

Maybe that had something to do with Lucus and the whole THX thing.

TX-6465 reporting in by the way............ :salute:

I think in the novelization it says "THX-1138, why aren't you at your post?"

I generally use a hyphen, but I've never put that much thought into it.

  6. I'm glad to hear that more of these may still be available. The price is too good to resist and it seems so much nicer than the Trik Toys version.

I just ordered an orange one. :) I've always wanted to make one, but at this price even with shipping, it's worth it.

I know I'm not really set up for a TD but I thought it would be cool to wear to parties with some pouches, and maybe one day I'll make a pack (it wouldn't meet 501st requirements I know, just for fun non-trooping events like friends Halloween parties, etc..)

Does anyone know: if you go for a 501st TD, are you only supposed to wear a specific color pauldron depending on your status or length of duty on the forums or something? Or can you wear any color you want?

You can always get yourself a BFG/Rocket Launcher and go for a HWT.

  7. I know there are a whole bunch of ATA threads out there, but this one seemed close to what I was wondering.

I was thinking about going ATA for a TD build. My concern is me being 6'1" and about 210. My current FX fits me well, and I could stand to lose a few. Would the ATA require excessive shimming and adjusting? I've never really been able to compare an FX derived suit to a TE/AP/ATA style suit in person, so any help would be great.
