My wife the graphic artist says you might be better off with Illustrator, but there is a lot of benefit to getting both.

That looks amazing! Almost easy enough for someone like me to attempt it!

Welcome back!

It can be a bit confusing and frustrating at first. The best thing to do is if you see something that has been posted that you like, send that person a PM and ask them how they got it.
If you get stuck and don't know where else to turn to, you can always bug one of the admins.

There are some threads explaining armor history and some of the differences between the makers. Do some reading and you can easily figure things out

Congratulations!
Remember you're not wasting time on the forums anymore.. it's working

i almost think building an fx helmet is a right of passage to joining the 501st - i am having so much "fun" doing mine
Have you figured out how to grow a 3rd arm? Cuz that helps a lot with the assembly.
Glad you're having fun, it's all worth it.

D'oh! Always too slow.

I tried to center my face plate on my FX by lining up the eyes with the traps. The FX is a good place to start, but the more time you spend here the more you will see the better options available.

Welcome back.
Things are a bit weird right now in the US, I can only imagine what it would look like to someone who has been living overseas for a while.
Happy Birthday!

Welcome! The title of the thread threw me a little bit, I was confused why you were talking about florida when the title was "New to WA" which I read as washington.
One of these days I'll make it down to Orlando for SWW

I don't think I've ever seen flaming happen on FISD at all (with the exception of those pesky armor history threads, but we wont go there, we all know who the trouble makers are, and they are no longer here)
It's been said better by others on here, but I just want to add to it. I really don't think that the FISD needs a specific armorer person, unless they just want to make one point of contact for where to buy type PMs.
The real beauty of this site is the feedback and all the different ways people have of putting together a suit.

Welcome, time to get cleaned up

I've got the Wal-Mart setup running thru a set of Stompers. No feedback, no issues really. The volume is a little low, but I think my mumbling is partly to blame for that. The Wal-Mart setup is pretty good on battery life too. 5 troops in and I have yet to change out the batteries.

Go for the FX lite and source out a different helmet. You'll be happier in the end.

2. What color pauldron? Should this be limited to canon colors as well?
I've only ever seen Orange pauldrons in the games. Not sure how the comics have handled it.

I tried on an AP helmet at a recent event. i couldn't even get it on my head without hearing the plastic protesting. The previous owner was a "bit short for a stormtrooper", but I don't see my melon getting into an AP without some pretty heavy modifications.

Welcome from a former SoCal resident!
Now, what do I have to do to get you to ship me some Double-Doubles?
-
Welcome Alan. Does this mean we might see you in a TK one day?

Congratulations on getting your #.
I'm about 6'-1" or so. A lot of your issues sound very familiar to me. I have the same problem with my sniper plate pinching my knee. It's painful, and it's only armor bite spot. I've done both things that were suggested on here, neither helped all that much. I've angled the plate forward and I used a heat gun to put a curve in it. The best thing that has helped me is to wear your shin just slightly off center. It really doesn't take much off center to reduce the pinching.
The groin issue, I'm still working on. Mine has started rubbing the inside of my thighs and the cod piece never seems to be sitting right. I have to constantly adjust it. It's separated from ab piece.
Good luck. It really is a learn as you go process.

All glue except for the bottoms of my forearms, the backs of my shins, and my side-gap shims. I could've glued my forearms on both sides, but during the initial build I thought the fit would be too tight. I've never had to undo the velcro.

Read my mind Deckard, I was just going to ask that.

Just blockade the planet and let the people starve until they are more "receptive" to your ideals. Worked (mostly) in Episode 1 and for Thrawn.

I've done research on Clones and I could never quite wrap my head around the Spoons. Frankly I'm a little worried if the people on here are scared of tackling them...![](https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/uploads/emoticons/default_huh.png)
