Thanks to my wife's steady hand, I've got the final paint details on the earcaps.
Can you see the bad spot? I'm not sure if it really needs to be fixed because you can't see it, even in person and up close.
I'm just waiting on the accurate brow trim from TM, and some padding.

I posted something similar to this on the Legion forums, but I wanted to post something here too.
Frankly, I'm rather upset and disappointed by how much this debate has turned into a personal attack. Just speaking for myself, I know if I had moved to the area or whatnot, I might have gone through similar steps to see what exactly the local firearm laws were and to seek an exception based on precedent for the Legion members.
Now, were some mistakes made? Probably, but "To err is to be human, forgiveness divine"
It's a terrible situation, but to be honest, it was inevitable. The local members knew the laws and knew that they were openly breaking them. All it would have taken was one phone call from an overly nervous or paranoid person, and they would've been in the same situation.

I checked redfordfilms.com where i got my MRCE, along with others on here, and they are no longer listing it. eFX does not currently have any TK helmets available on there site. I just did a quick google and amazon search, the MRCE is not as readily available as it was last year, and prices are in the $175 (via amazon) to $199 (via google link). For that price, and the amount of work that needs to go into it to bring it up to 501st standards, you're probably better off going thru AP, TM, ATA, etc.

I used a heat gun on a low setting from behind, and just kept wiggling the aereators until they came loose. I think you can see in the pictures I posted that there is a small lip of plastic holding the aereators in. Thats the only spot it is glued in at.
-
Check out the links at the top of the page, where it says "CRL" and "EIB" requirements. That will cover what is 501st acceptable as far as the TK-Stormtrooper goes.

What's next, clear armor?
That's been sort of done before. You can see it here http://forum.whitearmor.net/index.php?show...=1997&st=20, but beware, some things you see can not be unseen!

I can't speak for this style, but I've had several pairs of the classic 8 hole Dr. Martens boots. They are quite comfy and can take quite a beating. Last forever too.
-
Those seem awfully expensive. I'd say you can find better options for a better price with a bit more searching. There are some links in this section already.

Welcome to the FISD!
TupperwareTK is also known as Deckard on here.

If you're looking for white soled shoes, what about these------------. For the khaki sole, what about modifying boots like the type TBs use?

I know the job hunt all too well. Unfortunately I'm only a temp at the moment, but here is the company I work for www.kellyservices.com. They work with companies nationwide.

Best advice to give you is to just look around explore the site, check out what people are working on, what looks good to you and figure out what you want. Also, take into account and skills you might have (good with power tools, model building experience, plastic fabrication, etc.)
FX suits, helmet included, are still accepted within the Legion. However, the helmet is on it's way out. There are many other options available for price and larger sized melons
Any suit can be made to fit you. However, bear in mind that the suits that are closer to what was on screen were originally designed for someone around 5-10" and 180lbs. That's not to say that you can't wear it, it just means that you might require some shimming and adjusting. However, FX and RT tend work better for larger troopers.
Every kit comes with just the plastic hard pieces (the full FX kit comes with strapping and velcro, but it's utterly useless). Hitting up your local fabric shop, craft store, Wal-Mart, etc. will get you a lot of your supplies. A lot of the items you need can be found here, either thru direct sellers, links, or just general info.
I believe a DLT-19 is an accepted Stormtrooper weapon, because we do some troopers on the death star carrying them.
-
Should those clearing troopers for the respective Garrisons/outposts etc not be saying
" Hold up. Any chance you could sort these 2 things please" ?
I mean. If a trooper has gone to all the effort of shelling out for all that kit, the time to build it and has a desire to join then are they really going to complain about shelling out $10 to sort them out if asked nicley?
To quote the CRL: " Blue tube stripes, matching what was used on screen - navy blue and black are not acceptable."
"Ab plate. The ab plate also has a button area that matches the color pattern shown (3 blue + 6 gray). Buttons are approximately 7/16" in diameter"
And yes, before its said, I know not everyone is 501st. And this obviously does not apply to existing member, although considering its ease of implication maybe it should.
Something I've heard among Garrison members talking "we spend hundreds to thousands of dollars on a costume, but everyone complains when you ask them to spend $20"

I got an email newsletter from efx collectibles today. At the very end of the email they mention some upcoming projects including an "idealized symmetrical stormtrooper helmet"
Sadly, no pictures or anything else, but it's interesting. Since this is the group that used to work at Master Replicas, could this be a return of the MRCE under a new name? or an all new sculpt? Also, efx is working directly with Museum Replicas, the company producing those new high quality SW costumes, could this mean that we might be seeing armor pieces from Museum Replicas?

I've heard that Disney and/or LFL (not sure who footed the bill for the suits) paid a pretty penny for those. Rumour I heard over at the clone boards was that the Rex suit they debuted this year was somewhere in the area of $5,000 - $10,000.
It would be interesting to get an up close and personal look at the suits to see how they differ (materials, construction, etc.)

Tape and test fittings will help you get an idea of where to cut, go slow
-
Turtle Wax? I never heard of using turtle wax. I am on my 3rd coat of paint. It's shinny but doesn't have the gloss that I was hoping to get!
A clear coat of gloss can help, as well as some good buffing.
I got a little bit more done today

Wow.. I'm slow to update my own thread here. I think I've gotten the white base coat as good as it's going to be. So I got my decals, lenses, and painted the frown.
Now, I've been trying to decide if I want to make my suit into a TK-Commander or keep it all white. I think my decision has been made for me. A drop of grey paint fell, and it's been a pain to clean up. Ironically enough right where the grey paint fell was right where the blue TK-Commander stripe would go.
Now I just gotta order the trims, get some padding and reinstall the hovi's.
-
What if you figured out where you wanted the padding to go first, masked those areas off, then painted the inside?
-
Crazy thought, could you lower your ab plate (to help with the black above your thighs), then lower the thighs?
-
Looks great! It has all the wonky-beauty of the ROTJ.
-
Just wondering which helmet is better? Can the Master Replica helmet have it's hovi mics modded with speakers? The FX helmet I know is bigger but does that just make it more comfortable and roomy to put in your fans and mic etc... Not super duper worried about screen accuracy at this moment in time.
Thanks
In my experience I've seen that anything can be modified. FX is really on it's way out, there are many options to fit all the "needs" that FX once filled.

I feel your pain. I got fired twice last year! Both crummy jobs that I was glad to be rid of, you'll find something and be back on your feet.
We will be here as well.
