Trogdor's first build (mtk)
starsaber25 replied to Trogdor's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Hey Joe and Congrats on your armor and good luck on your journey. It is all very intimidating at first but once you get your first cuts down you will realize that it isn't that bad. MTK is a great kit to work with. I'm sure you have done a ton of research on this kit and you have seen that the biggest issue with the kit is the left forearm and bicep. Please make sure that you do not cut too much off of the left forearm when you get there. I kept the measurements of my right and left forearm the same and while I still don't have an issue getting into my left forearm it certainly is more snug. So far your pencil line on your chest seems ok. Like what Brian said above, just keep as much of a return edge as you can. As far as your faceplate goes its hard to tell about your eyes especially on the top but it looks to me that you can take more off of the sides of the eyes. -
Hi Aaron. If you are looking for a completed armor to be around $1000 you will be hard pressed. Unless you can come across something in the for sale area. If you went over to Anovos, I see that they are selling a complete armor for around $1450. The only issue right now with Anovos is they originally said they will not be shipping until this coming winter. However, I'm sure it will take even longer. I would say you should look at some of the build threads and take on the challenge yourself and build one from a kit. It may seem intimidating but it really isn't bad once you get started. It just takes some organization and time. If you would like to keep it within your price range, then see what the wait time is right now for ATA. It usually takes months and if that is still the case then look at MTK or AP. You are within the measurements to fit in these. You could look into AM but you will be trimming a lot of it. Since you are only looking into just wearing it for halloween or things like that and you don't really care if its put together like the originals then i'm sure you could slap it together using whatever methods work for you. Good luck

EFX Helmet ? RUBIES Helmet?

Hi Omar. If money isn't an issue I would look into Troopermaster or RSProps! If you would like to keep it on the more reasonable side then look into ATA or MTK. -
Hey Tom. From what I remember when I was looking into prices for these kits is that AM was more expensive then MTK. Also MTK can fit up to a 38 sized waist depending on how the person is proportioned. What are your measurements? AM is made for the larger trooper.

TK-44228 Requesting ANH Stunt Centurion Status (RS)[164]

Great job Luke! This is an awesome well put together piece of armor! -
I know this is what it says on the first page. However, to mention Do not buy stormtrooper stuff on eBay is a statement that may lend itself to be inaccurate. A possible better way to put this would be to do plenty of research before buying anything ANYWHERE. There are two good stormtrooper kits that are sometimes available on eBay and they are MTK and Cap-W. Those two kits have been made to look just as great if not better then some of the vetted kits listed on the first page. If the kits are made well then it most always comes down to the person building them. This statement is also made in Paul's awesome opening thread: You are certainly free to buy where you will, but if you vary this list we strongly encourage that you at least do your due diligence inquiring about the seller's quality and reputation before parting with your money. Good Luck to all new members when you are looking into purchasing kits. And as always make sure you do plenty of research before pulling the trigger. Any and all information can be found in these forums on all armor available today.

Hi Ricky. MTK is an awesome set of armor. Like has been said, Mike has made numerous improvements to his armor which in turn has made it more accurate. MTK is a very sturdy armor and can adapt to however you would like to build it. MTK would fit someone who has a larger waist with no need to shim. There are many build threads and Centurion applications using both MTK and AP. Check them out.

Hi Ande prices aren't really discussed in the forums. You can always email the other makers to get their current pricing. ATA is listed in the vetted seller thread and MTK is mtk_armor@cox.net For RS pricing you can go to their website. Just for reference I am 5'8" and 190lbs. I have a 38 inch waist and I have MTK armor. It fit perfectly without adding shims. So these other armors can fit if you carry the weight right. Also TM just mentioned recently that his armor fits up to a 38 inch waist as well. Good Luck

There is a Billogram for that... -
Hi Pedro. Yes Trooperbay is legit and an awesome one stop shopping website. The owner of trooperbay also makes an awesome armor kit called MTK. As far as other armor makers you should look here... http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/ I'm assuming when you mean create or buy you are referring to buying a kit and building it yourself (create) or buying a kit that is premade for you from one of the armor makers (buy). If I had to give you a recommendation it would be to build your own kit. That way you can build it specifically to your body and make adjustments as you see fit. Also at the end of the build there is an awesome feeling of achievement.

Darth Voorhees coming back home...

Welcome Back Lou! -
Hey Scott. Like everyone said so far you could fit into pretty much any armor but AM and RT would probably be too big. If you are thinking TM then like the man himself said it will fit up to 190lbs! I think you could go with many armors. I have MTK and I built it when I was 190lbs and I just recently put it on at 195lbs and still fit great. Yeah 195lbs time to work on that!

I'm assuming you are looking for a history lesson? Here is an awesome read right from the "horses mouth." http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/25349-capcap-west-from-the-horses-mouth/#entry319038 CAP and ATA come from the same origins. I would say the big difference is that CAP is Hips and ATA is ABS. So if you went with CAP you would have to paint the armor. There are a few great build threads on CAP like Grimez and Stormy1992. As you will read in the thread above, ATA, CAP-W and MTK come from the CAP armor.

So I have been following this thread closely. There are many people that appear to be jumping all over this deal at $350 and understandably so. But for the people who are thinking of making this their first suit, aren't any of you a little concerned that this product may not be what it appears? I'm not saying that Anovos does a bad job with anything that it does because I do not have any personal knowledge dealing with them and their products. I just fear that when people finally start getting these sometime if the future that many of these people may have to do a lot of extra work to do to make it up to standards. I guess you can always assume that if you want to make it up to EIB or Centurion you could always just take the molded parts and construct them like you would any other armor. I just know that one of the goals of FISD is to get people to go atleast EIB above normal approval. When many new members end up buying this armor and assembling it, I would imagine most would just take Anovos' instructions and assemble it that way because that is the "way" they said to do it. Which would probably not make them eligible for EIB based on what people have said. I'm not an expert but I would say that the reason EIB numbers have been rising is because most new members are building their armor towards those higher levels right out of the gate. But if a new member purchases this armor and builds it using their instructions then that member is less likely to change the armor after its already built which would go against the EIB goals. I just hope that more and more accurate information comes out about this armor so everyone can start making preparations when it finally does show up on people's doorsteps. I know that this is FISD but for those of you who are on the Sith Lord Detachment what is everyones feelings on Anovos' Darth Vader armor compared to whats already out there? Has it been accepted by the members or do they feel it is not up to standards?

Two ebay sellers that are legit are Scootch with his CAP-W armor and Mike with MTK armor. So buy now...

Question about Anovos’ Armor
starsaber25 replied to AmyLynn98's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Well hello there Amy and welcome to FISD. From what I have read so far it may be too early to tell if Anovos TK armor will be approvable right out of the box. I would bet that it will be because they have apparently 3d scanned a suit at LFL but who knows right now. However, the early indication is that this armor won't ship until winter 2015. So if you are in more of a rush then I would recommend selecting another armor. Read the getting started thread and then there are also a few more armors that aren't listed like MTK, NE, Cap-w. It really all comes down to your size. I believe the only armor maker that offers a trimmed kit is AP. But I could be wrong. AP runs a little more on the smaller size. I would really recommend doing all of the trimming yourself since you can tailor it more to fit you. Once you make your first few cuts it really does get easier and easier! Good luck -
Andrew I could be wrong on this but I remember reading that there is no requirement on return edges. The only requirement is in the higher levels when you are required to not have a return edge on the wrist end of the forearm. I believe the thought behind a return edge is to make your armor look thicker in appearance. It also comes down to how you are strapping your armor. If you are using the bracket system then you will need return edges on your back, chest, kidney, ab, and butt pieces.

Thanks for the feedback Derek. When I got up this morning I was hoping someone from CVII would give all of us unfortunate people at home some insight on this Anovos Stormtrooper. So they are going with that the RS suit was not recasted by them but that they had access to a suit in the archive and 3D scanned it? If that is the case, then I would have a hardtime imagining that this armor wouldn't be 501st approvable right away if they use the correct hardware on the helmet and armor.

Compare AP Vs MTK kidney notch.
starsaber25 replied to TK bondservnt's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Thanks for the post Vern and hope you are on your way to recovery! I'm with you Aaron. I don't know much about vac forming but if he did raise it up then it would add another couple of inches which would help AP fit more people without more modifications. Interesting...
