Seeking advice for basic approval
starsaber25 replied to TK 41576's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Hey Mike. You did a good job with this set of armor. While I don't see anything that should not allow you to gain basic approval it is obviously up to your GML. However, there are a couple of things that stand out to me. One is your forearms appear to be rotated back too much. When you hold your arms at the side you should see the coverstrip and not the inside of the forearm. It could just be the photos but I just wanted to point that out. The second thing for me is your thigh ammo pack. It should be connected in the upper corner of the ammo pack on both sides. I would suggest taking a look at some other build threads and maybe trimming it a little more if you can. Obviously don't do it if you can't reasonably get it off because I still don't think it should affect your approval. Good luck! -
TM armour vs MTK armour
starsaber25 replied to marian_melinte01's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Yes I think that TM will fir you better with the XL shins. I have a TM helmet and MTK armor. I'm 5'8" and I can't imagine MTK would fit much more then a couple inches taller then me. -
Mark this is beautiful! Nice work!

Hey Robert. I did have a chin strap in my bucket but I ended up taking it out. I feel that there really isn't much of a need for it. I know I haven't been in any live action troops where I get shot by a blaster and thrown in the air, do a dipsy do, and land on my back yet. I guess then you would need it. Maybe another member who has been attacked by rebel scum can elaborate more.

As for question #2 I velcroed my amp in my chest plate. It's worked well for me so far.

Congrats Ron! Its unfortunate that a bad mistake that many years ago has had a lasting impact. I am happy to hear that you took another chance and started over again. The vetted list is comprised of vendors who have a great reputation. It is a smart move that you stuck to that list. AM2 is a very nice kit and I'm sure you will be very happy with it. Have fun with your armor when it arrives!

Where, What and Whom To Avoid When Buying
starsaber25 replied to RogueTrooper's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
Hi Asif. I would have to urge you to look elsewhere. You say yourself that you are worried about your skills to trim and put a kit together. You also say that you know an SDS kit would need to have modifications done to make it 501st approved which is absolutely true. So why wouldn't you look into RS props or Troopermaster since you are in the UK? Both are far superior kits and both can come assembled and would most likely be 501st approvable upon arrival. -
Mysterious Blue Stains [AP armor]
starsaber25 replied to SpiceCredits's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Wow so I have one of those "stains" on one of my MTK shoulder bells and it was driving me crazy for a while. Had no idea where it came from. Its like a 3" line on the outside of my shoulder bell. Now I just look at it, get annoyed and just troop anyway. I figured I would just eventually get around to replacing it. But now thinking about it, maybe it does come from the Hyperfirm? I sometimes put it in my bin with the armor and not in the tray in my stanley box. Maybe this could be it? I don't wrap the hyperfirm and I just throw it in the bin like a dummy. The only other things I have in there besides armor is my undersuit and neckseal. But those are always in the tray and don't touch the armor. Interesting... -
That is sweet Paul. Man I can't wait to one day have my "office." My stuff always seems to find its way into a closet or a drawer.
-
Hi Ron. I would stay clear of that site. You are buying a set of an older style armor. You are much better off buying from a vendor that has good reviews and is listed as a trusted and reputable vendor. Take a look at the getting started thread and you will find a ton of info there.

Screen accurate ANH stunt strapping system

Go with mr no stripes -
And he is ultimately putting together a sandtrooper but there are only a few differences between a TD and an ESB TK assembly.

Hey Steve. Check out trooperbay.com and Mike has some excellent videos on there. Now they are just a guide and you can assemble your armor how you would like to but it certainly is very handy seeing a good quality video on armor assembly.

Hey Louis. At your height and weight I would say that you should stay away from RT-MOD, AM, and Anovos if you are looking for the least amount of work to go EIB and Centurion. RT and AM are for larger troopers and Anovos you will have to modify the helmet a little and replace a couple of items. But the other armors listed in the getting started thread should not be too much of an issue for you. http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/

The 501st Legion's Empire City Garrison attended the New York Yankees Star Wars night at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York on Friday August 5th, 2016. This was the first time the New York Yankees ever held a Star Wars night and the Empire City Garrison was happy to support it along with friends The Empire Saber Guild, The Mandolorian Mercs, and the Rebel Legion. Empire City members arrived at Yankees stadium at approximately 3pm. After going through security they were escorted to their dressing room. Yankees management came in the dressing room at this time and briefed all of the costume groups on their roles for the night. At 5pm the Empire City troopers headed out to their locations for photo ops with the fans as the doors to the stadium opened up to the game attendees. For the next hour and a half, the fans were treated to getting photos with their favorite Star Wars characters. The fans were blown away as they lined up to get their photos taken with the amazing looking Star Wars characters throughout the stadium. After a short break back at the dressing room, ECG troopers headed down to the field entrance area to line up for the Star Wars parade that was to take place on the field. Led by the Dark lord himself Darth Vader, all of the characters paraded around the field for all see. The crowd went nuts the entire time the parade was going on. This was truly an amazing moment as the Star Wars theme was played as the characters took over Yankee stadiumās field. Darth Vader and his squad of stormtroopers were kept on the field for a few activities which included the announcing of the games umpires. This was an amazing event which brought a lot of smiles and a huge treat to the attendees of the game. It was an honor to finally support the greatest sports franchise in all of sports history and ECG hometown heroes the New York Yankees AND their fans. Many thanks go out to ECG friends The Empire Saber Guild, The Mandolorian Mercs, and the Rebel legion for their support of this event. Itās always a blast to troop with our fellow SW fan groups! Huge thanks go out to Helen Keier, Candace Platania, Ed DeSimone, and Eric Balchan for their support and handling of our troopers. ECG Troopers in attendance: Bob DeSimone - Darth Vader Anthony Paladino ā Imperial Navy Trooper Allan Liefke ā Heavy Weapons Stormtrooper Marek Mirecki - Stormtrooper Jared Vasquez ā Sandtrooper Russell Augello - Stormtrooper Mike Deguzman - Stormtrooper John Trowbridge - TIE Pilot Shane Methal - AT-AT commander Ray Eng ā Stormtrooper Johnny Arocho - Stormtrooper Chris Feehan - Emperor Palpatine Miguel Lopez - Stormtrooper Ted Moy - AT-AT driver Jonathan Diaz ā TIE Pilot Trooping Hours: 52.5

any good or should i walk away?
starsaber25 replied to mauvia's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
So coming back to this thread and reading more then I did this morning, the guys right above are correct PIM. You really should consider AM or RT-Mod. While they don't have a "store" as you have mentioned they are legit sellers of armor and there is no issues with them whatsoever. Those kits are made specifically for the larger trooper in mind. While they are not the same size as a screen derived armor set, they look just as good in most circumstances because it is all proportional. If you get a screen derived set of armor at your size it may not ever look as good as these two on your body size even though they are screen derived. -

Hi PIM. Original Stormtrooper isn't the original sculptor of the stormtrooper. That was done by Liz Moore and Brian Muir. Original Stormtrooper vacuum formed the suits for the movie. He is misleading people. RS props is casted from an original ANH set of armor and is far superior to the other. The original Stormtrooper will require extra work to get it 501st Approved. Please refer to the getting started threads. And welcome to FISD! -
July 2016 Newsletter - FISD's 10th Anniversary

Great job IPM! Happy 10 year anniversary to all! -
Hey William. You could always reach out to Mike (MTK) and ask for a new helmet kit. It depends on how rushed you are. He took the month off from everything because he had knee surgery. Other then that I have MTK and I use a TM when I do ANH. It is slightly off but you can't really tell the difference unless you are looking for it.

Happy Anniversary FISD! Thank you so much Paul for creating such a masterpiece. You formed a place for a bunch of dorks and geeks to come share a common passion. Thank you to all past and current staff members who have worked so hard on keeping this ship forging ahead and making it the best detachment. I have truly enjoyed being an active and non active member of this amazing place for the last 5 years. Here's to many more years of troopers helping troopers!

Hi Chris and welcome to FISD! So I know 46 pages seems like a lot but you have a lot to consider in this hobby. This hobby costs a lot of money. You certainly want to make a well educated decision on what armor is right for you. Picking your armor will be the most important decision you could make. I would seriously not recommend taking shortcuts anywhere. You should take the time and read through all 47 pages. There is a ton of information here. The questions that you asked are all answered in this thread. Good luck with your research.

Hey everyone. Mike has done a great job keeping up on his armor and making changes to it to reflect the highest of standards. I love my set even though it is probably a few versions ago. It is quality armor that has not let me down in the least bit while I've been out there trooping. I wouldn't hesitate to jump on his deal if you are looking for a great set of armor.

Portable Changing Room
starsaber25 replied to Mutter's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
Hey Greg that's a good idea for those awkward times. If I make it up to the HVS at all are you willing to rent out time? Is there an ECG discount? -
Wow I'm actually surprised with how few ROTJ troopers there are. I knew it wasn't the most popular but I thought there would be more then that!

Hey Lance and welcome to FISD! I'm looking to do a tie reserve and pilot next. I highly suggest you head over to the Jolly Roger detachment and the Imperial officer corps. You will find most of the info you are looking for over there. Good luck on your journey!
