  1. I understand what you are saying about the build threads. The only thing about this is in the Advanced Tactics section it is a requirement to post threads that way. If you want the award then you have to follow the guidelines. It would be very hard to require people to post build threads a certain way. That would take away from the individuality of that persons build. People like to name their build threads in their own unique way. While many people put the type of armor they are building in their title anyway I just think it would be difficult to require people put their armor type in the brackets. Just my 2 cents.
  2. I totally agree with Joseph on this one. It would make it very easy for new people to go into the correct build thread and find a sub folder on their armor. There are many Anovos builds right now along with some others but there might not be many T/MC or MTK or RT-MOD and they ultimately get pushed many pages back. It would certainly make it easier. I also mentioned a few times within the last couple of years that maybe in the getting started threads also start sub-folders for armors there as well. So that way when someone wants to get info on RS or TKUK or AP or RWA then they can click on that sub folder where there are discussions on these. It would be a good way to keep armor specific info into one manageable folder instead of 20 different posts about each armor in the Hard Armor section.
  3. Every time I see your cleaning picture it makes me chuckle! There certainly are some things that I could probably come up with. I'll post them when I have a good list.
  4. Wow Aaron! You did an awesome job! I would say good luck but I don't think you will need it. Lets get that EIB badge!
  5. Wow it's amazing how busy this Detachment was last year. With all of the new stormtroopers approved along with all of the new EIB/Centurions approved it appears that 2016 was a great success! Good work everyone. Great job to the staff last year. Let's shatter these numbers this year!
  6. Well I guess the answer to that can vary. Some people are just more talented then others. And also I would say it depends on if it's your first time or not. Speaking for myself I cut the eyes, teeth, and helmet itself in one day. Then the next day I painted the frown, traps, and tears. Then I sat there and looked at the ears. I think I took some time to cry about doing them. Then I looked at reference photos and some tutorials. Then I think I drank heavily and probably a week later I was ready to actually do it. I then cut them and sanded them. Then kept doing that for days until I was finally happy and then I drilled the holes and finished the helmet. So basically it all depends. Days or weeks.
  7. The frown looks like a very soft pull. It's like it is a mashup of AM1, FX stuff with an updated chest. Besides FX is there any other set that has the ab buttons on the mold and not a separate part?
  8. Thank you for the kind words Paul. It is an honor to serve on the staff of in my opinion the best detachment in the legion! I look forward to joining the team and doing the best I can to serve in the future. Thank you to all of the current staff for the amazing job that you have been doing for our members. I look forward to learning as much as I can from you folks and its an honor to serve the the FISD!
  9. Darn that is awful news! Sorry to hear this man. Certainly keep your eye out around your area. More then likely it isn't someone in the legion and you might notice some random guy walking around in awesome RS armor. I know if someone stole my armor I would recognize mine right away if someone was wearing it. I hope you have a successful ending to this.
  10. Hi Tris and welcome to FISD. Sorry that you have had complications with your armor. But as Glen said maybe you can post some photos so we can see what it looks like. It may be worth your while to contact a couple of armor makers in the U.K. And get some replacement parts if they aren fitting right. You really aren't that far out of the size so I feel like it shouldn't be too bad.
  11. So both AP and TM are very nice kits. Does it come down to the fact that you would like to build a new set of armor and try something different? If you would like an ESB costume you don't need to purchase a new set because they are almost the same. I have done the conversion as well and you only need a new helmet, new belt, holster, handguards, and E-11. However, if you just want to build a new set of armor and are just looking for a "good excuse" to do so then sure build a TM! Haha. We are all always looking for a good reason to build again!
  12. Congrats Paul and welcome back to the DL position! Its going to be a great year ahead and I can't wait to see it all unfold.
  13. Man you are some creative! I've seen what you do with logo design, shadow boxes and now this. You are unstoppable!
  14. Congrats! Looking sharp!
  15. Hi AJ and welcome to FISD! Like my pal Eric said there is no dumb questions. Have you signed up with your local Garrison? One of the best ways to see how trooping is, is to become a handler for your Garrison while you are building. It will help you to get to know your new mates and to get an idea on how it all goes. Make sure you start a build thread. Have fun!
  16. I just caught a design flaw. You made it too small. You add a new costume every month. Where are you going to fit them all?
  17. I think most sellers provide the diamond knee plate and the ab buttons so you can go sandy. As far as the armor itself goes there really isn't too many differences between a TK and a sandtrooper besides those two items. You will also have to build a backpack and make it look sandy. But the backpack you will have to get from other vendors and I'm sure the MEPD will be able to point you in the right direction.
  18. Hey Gareth. You got yourself a nice set of armor there. Good luck on your application.
  19. Hopefully one day this mystery will be solved. There are a few websites that have popped up over the last year or so that have been questionable. Tkarmour has certainly gained notariety for their dancing stormtroopers. And then with the buy one get one deal. But then there is also stormtroopercity who has what appears to be the same armor and is also buy one get one. Both of these guys come onto FISD randomly and try and push their product. When the community asks them one simple question of proof of their molds, they again disappear and never produce. So I certainly agree with Wyatt that when it comes down to recommendations they haven't earned any trust or confidence to have their armor recommended. David and the other stormtroopercity guy may be the nicest guys in the world but when it comes down to clarity and the appearance of not hiding behind anything, they are certainly lacking in that department. Now again, when it comes down to pricing these deals are hard to argue with. Every person has the right to spend their money how they see fit. And Mike has made the jump and I guess we shall see if the armor is approvable in due time.
  20. Well Michael I stand corrected! Looking at your blaster again it appears you do have the promo one and you don't need the d-ring. I didn't know the promo didn't need one until you just mentioned it. Nevermind haha!
  21. Hey Michael! Awesome to see you over here submitting for EIB! I know first hand how nice your RS armor is. One thing I have noticed is you don't have a d ring on your e-11. You will need that. But otherwise you are looking good! Good luck and bring another EIB to the ECG!
  22. Well if you ask Mike about it he doesn't necessarily care that he isn't on the vetted armor list. But I guess the reason he isn't on it is because his armor is casted from CAP armor. There are a lot of questions as to the permissions to cast this armor. Many people believe that Chris (CAP) recasted TE2 and never had permission to do so. ATA is the only one who has gotten vetted from casting this armor. However Mike has done an exceptional job at improving his molds and should still be considered.
  23. Hi Stephen. It is very easy to switch back and forth between ANH and ESB. I first built an ANH set and then I built the parts for ESB. I mostly troop in my ANH version but sometimes you just feel like switching it up. Like this weekend I've already made up my mind to go ESB at my troop. I just keep my ESB parts in my bin besides the helmet.
  24. Hi Tony. As Randy mentioned check in with RS. Your other UK options are Troopermaster who you can PM on the boards and check in with The Shed of Glittering Delights on Facebook. Maybe Andy offers assembled suits. But you really need to check in with the U.K. Garrison. They will point you in the right direction.
