  1. Hello everyone! I would like to announce a change to the ROTJ TK CRL. Under the Centurion requirements in the old CRL it used to state at that: There are no visible snaps, rivets or brads on the crotch tab of the Posterior Armor tab. After a review of screen captures it has been determined that there was indeed a snap on the posterior tab. Upon staff discussion, this has been removed from the Centurion requirements and the snap is now allowed for Centurion. Please feel free to re-familiarize yourself with the ROTJ CRL here: http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_rotj If you have any questions regarding this update please feel free to contact me via PM.
  2. Oh boy! Guess I know what’s next! this is a fun build. Looking great!
  3. Yeah I always know when there is going to be a problem because when the FISD gets slow or goes down, so does the SLD. But yes I agree that the website has been a lot slower lately then it has in the past. This is what happens when we are so popular!
  4. Yes Dan is right. Basically the Expert Infantry and Centurion programs are detachment specific. Neither program really has anything to do with the 501st. Those programs are available for those who want to go above and beyond basic approval and attempt to make their armor some of the best looking within the legion. Oh and the programs are also there for awesome swag! If you haven't checked out the December newsletter, then I would check it out because it has some great information in it in regards to EIB/Centurion. It is best to build your armor straight out of the box towards achieving Centurion if that is your plan. You will find that it is a lot easier to do it that way. Also please keep in mind that you will need to apply for Expert Infantry first and then apply for Centurion once you are approved for EIB.
  5. Well Casper that is an interesting helmet there. It looks like it a mashup between an ANH helmet and an ESB Mark II. Not too much ROTJ there. I think the frown may be throwing you off. So besides the frown and the ear rank bars being painted to be ESB the rest of the helmet is made to be more ANH with the painted details. If you would like a ROTJ helmet then I seriously urge you to consider contacting CFO or Troopermaster. You can find their information here: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/
  6. Hi Thomas and welcome to the FISD! While this detachment deals with just stormtroopers, I will try to help as best I can. I highly recommend you check out Radu Plucinski on Facebook. He is offering a very nice set. You can also check out RS Props on their website, Walts Trooper Factory on Facebook and Lord Zach on Facebook. See the trend? Pretty much need Facebook to check into Tie armor. You can head over to the Jolly Roger Forum but it is pretty much an empty shell. Also If anyone recommends a Targ to you, please run the other way as fast as you can. I hope this helps!
  7. Here the links that you will want to read through. These will elaborate as to why you do no want to buy from SDS/Shepperton/Originalstormtrooper https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/19286-the-original/ https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/23392-wwworiginalstormstroopercom-hit-or-miss/ http://www.originalprop.com/blog/2011/03/16/facebook-hosts-ongoing-public-debate-over-original-sculptor-credit-for-star-wars-stormtrooper-andrew-ainsworth-or-liz-moore-brian-muir/

  9. Hi Matt and welcome to the FISD! Check out that link that has been provided to you and you will have all of the information necessary to begin your journey.

  11. Yeah that looks like another front of Jedi Robe to me. Like Randy said it looks horrible.
  12. WTF is a nice kit. If you have a Facebook account then Walts has a page you can join where you can get all the info you need.
  13. I have voiced my concerns about this in Vern's thread. I am not for this. I just think this is a lot of work for many people that will go unseen. In many countries you can barely carry a blaster. So what would be the point to spend a ton of money to make a blaster super accurate to just sit in a display case in someones home? Many people will probably not even be able to source the parts to achieve higher levels. And also are we creating an environment for someone who builds an accurate blaster that looks a little "too real" where there is an issue in public with law enforcement? Atleast with armor when you go the higher levels it is seen by everyone out there and everyone has the opportunity to achieve it. I also mentioned that if we do this, then where does it stop? Accurate pauldrons? Accurate TK lightsabers? Accurate Executioner ax? I know there are a lot of people who are very passionate about blasters but I just think we shouldn't be creating higher levels of accuracy for them...
  14. Congrats Corey! This is a very exciting time indeed. Enjoy!
  15. Since this thread has gone off track then what it is supposed to be intended for, it is going to be locked from this point forward.
  16. What are you doing for your voice system? RomFx is doing one last run currently if you haven't made a purchase. It is a very good set. Otherwise there is the Icomm which I use and I like that as well.
  17. I agree with the Should or Must be black/white for ears. Also since we are going in there and making changes maybe we should just throw on a V1 to the AM chest and back plates not being allowed. I still get questions on that every now and again with people who have any AM chest and back plates.
  18. Frank it is unfortunate that your build thread has gone in a different direction then it’s original intention. I think Tim has made a very well done post. Just to reiterate that you are surrounded by experts in all directions. If you would like to join the 501st then the experts in the CRL will shine. If you are not interested in the 501st and are more interested in screen replication then the screen replication experts will shine. Don’t be afraid to let everyone know and you will be steered in the right direction. I hope you enjoy your build. Disclaimer: This is Franks build thread. Let’s keep it that. If there is any off topic bashing or snide remarks by anyone moving forward, it may send you to the time out chair. Move Along. Move Along...
  19. Hi Freddy. Here is a good link for some reading. Essentially the conversation is always the same with TKarmour, TKUK, TKUS, Stormtroopercity which are all different names for the same company. Everyone says that David (owner) is a "nice guy" and the price is good. There are mixed reviews as to the quality of the armor. Some say it's okay and some say it's not that great. The ONE thing that has never been shown by David is where he obtained his molds from and pictures of his molds and sculpting process. If he has done none of the previously mentioned, then was he given permission to cast another set of armor which he has not stated he has. For those reasons he won't be a recommended vendor. It is likely he recasted another set of armor. This will be the case until he can show some type of proof that it isn't. I would stick to the armors mentioned in the first post.
  20. Yup you got all of the info you need here! I would take a pliers or a wrench and open up the split rivets. Then install a longer set of elastics. Then install a new elastic piece on the right side as well. I know you say you aren't too mechanically inclined this shouldn't be too difficult. And if you feel you still can't do it, then ask a squad mate to meet you in a quiet sector and bribe him/her with lunch to do it.
  21. Hi Steven. I'm having a hard time trying to understand what you mean so I would like to clarify it so I can give you a hand. When you say you would like to seperate the Chest and Back, do you mean those two plates specifically? Or are you referring to the ab plate and the kidney plate? Would you be able to provide pictures of the section you are referring to? Using a site like Imgur works very well for posting photos. I would just like to see how RS put it together for you so I can give you the best way. If it is the kidney and ab armor like I suspect you mean, then I would hope it should be as easy as replacing the elastic there that is holding it together.
  22. Well here we go. All of the TFA EIB fun is about to begin. Looks awesome Glen.

  24. Well if you buy recasted armor, you can certainly get it approved and join the 501st if it meets 501st standards. The reason why it is heavily frowned upon is because the vendors who provide legit armor to the masses have spent a ton of money and spent a ton of time perfecting their molds only to be copied by some slob looking to try and make a quick buck. If you study the armor tree, there are only a small handful of vendors who have bought molds that have touched a screen used suit. In order to provide a kit derived from the molds, it has cost that person a substantial amount of money. Those are the guys you want to support because they are hardworking honest people who share a lot of passion in what we do.
