most expert holster attachment technique?
Darth Aloha replied to TK5707's topic in Build Threads Requireing Maintenance
For removable kine holster? Chicago screws. Otherwise pop rivets. Or you could put a fake rivet in and then use snaps in the back where it can't be seen Aloha, -Eric -
One AA battery holds 1.5 volts. One 9v battery holds 9 volts. The difference between 6 AA's = 9 volts and 1 9v battery is how long it takes for the battery to drain. I won't bore you with a discussion of milliamp hours... but 1 9v won't last as long as 6 AA's... but it sure fits better in your helmet I also won't go into the fact that most of those squirrel blower (settle down) fans are actually 12v devices... but that's a topic for another discussion. The web server migration is complete. Let us know in this thread if you are experiencing anything newly weird, odd, AFU, anomalous, wacky, spooky, freaky, jacked up, or annoying. Any other experiences you can keep to yourself. Aloha, -Eric -
Rich: To me the ESB troopers' chests always look higher up than the ANH stunts. Way less space between the bottom of the chest and the ab plate buttons. The massive space also may be the same effect I have in my RT-MOD... I've got a really long torso with totally different proportions than the little english dudes at Elstree. -Eric
-
Oh yeah. ESB. Good point Rich. I have such an ANH stunt frame of mind. Actually... lower your biceps too LOL

Dude... if I had to nitpick... and I can't stop myself... you have two of the same problems I do/did. Your chest should come down some. Do you have any elastic going from chest to ab? If so tighten it up lots and lengthen your should elastic. I actually redid my shoulder bridges too but I don't think you'll need to. Bringing the chest down can also help bring the entire back of your torso up a little if it feels like your butt is sagging but still lined up well. And maybe use some shorter elastic between back and kidney to make that line up better... something I struggle with. Or maybe It looks like you have a ton of room your thighs. After you troop for a while and get used to the kit maybe think about trimming them a bit... unless you find you dig them that way then don't listen to me. Drop box placement with the long RT belt is tough but I think you did a better job than I did. Nicely done brotherman. I can't wait to see the (I think) first RT-MOD ESB EIB... ASAP PDQ LOL. Aloha, -Eric

TK-8616Requesting ESB EIB status [217][AP]
Darth Aloha replied to TKRalf's topic in Request Expert Infantry Status
Ralf... I removed the EIB number from the topic title. Mathias will add that once he approves you. Good luck brother. Aloha, -Eric (PS: Look'n good!) -
iPhone in your helmet?
Darth Aloha replied to AbrahamLINC0LN's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
While I think having a phone in your helmet is totally ridiculous... The motorcycle folks have already figured this out. There are a few boxes that will switch between a frs radio and your cell phone. Some have integrated intercom radios but others just switch between audio sources. Rather than use an external frs maybe you could use an aker? Motorcom, chatterbox, sena, Mix-it, and the j&m integrator are some things to google. But again.... There are way too many other fun things to do while dressed as a stormtrooper other than talk on the phone. Aloha and good luck, -Eric -
Old FX renovation
Darth Aloha replied to Femtrooper Julie's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
And... now here's where I decide if I want to nit pick all over my CO's TK... I probably will... So thanks FiSD for making me a jerk in this situation LOL If only there was only a genuine source for troopers in HI to acquire screen accurate armor Aloha, -Eric -

Q: Sanding & Polishing - Beyond Novus?
Darth Aloha replied to LadyInWhite's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
It's a sign from the maker... Please report to http://forum.mepd.net for your ration of tan colored earth to smear all over your armor I have a few of those... I'll let you know how novus #1 goes. Aloha, -Eric -
Q: Sanding & Polishing - Beyond Novus?
Darth Aloha replied to LadyInWhite's topic in Assembly, Mods, and Painting
I just purchased some small bottles of novus 1, 2 and 3. I am hoping that 3 will take out big scratches, 2 will buff out small scratches, and 1 will polish and clean it up. Anyone have experience with using all the novus numbers in sequence? I don't trust myself even with very very high grit wet kine sandpaper. You can get various buffing wheels for your dremel most of them are pretty small and don't cover much area. I once used a soft felt buffing wheel chucked in a drill to polish large expanses of ABS that worked pretty well. The drill I have is capable of limiting and locking in the speed which should be slow and constant. I bought mine at an auto supply store and it was maybe 3-4" in diameter? Be careful you don't get any sand or grit in the buffer or you'll scratch the crap out of your armor. Aloha, -Eric -
Here are measurements from Rob of RT of the "max" circumfrence that will fit into his kit: Thigh - 27" Calve - 17" Bicep - 16.5" Forearm - 13.5" Abdomen - 42" I have a 38" waist and maybe 44ish to 46ish chest (its been so long since I've had to buy a suit jacket and formal aloha shirts aren't sized by chest) and fit into my RT nicely. It might be best to email Rob and ask him what he thinks. He may be able to ask you to send various measurements to see if RT-MOD is right for you. If not maybe shim up an ATA kit... or do the work needed to fit into AM and buy a chest and back from RT? I hope this helps more than it confuses. Aloha, -Eric
-
Agreed. Less work all around to make it fit no matter your body size. Outside of the AM chest wackyness it really is made for a very stout trooper which may cause you to trim the crap out of it creating more work for yourself than buying an untrimmed kit. Lang: What's your height and waist size if you don't mind me asking? Rob fixed the frown btw. They look like proper chicklets now... and I think he's doing stuff like green lenses etc. I don't regret my RT bucket... but I eventually do want a more screen accurate one. Aloha, -Eric
-
I own an RT helmet... and I wish I had a more screen accurate one with all the warts and bumps. I don't think the RT helmet is significantly bigger for fit... but it scaled a little larger for larger troopers. My guess is that the ATA is probably cheaper unless you can convince Rob to sell you an unassembled helmet. And yes... +1 on replacing the AM chest and back. Aloha, -Eric

Cheap amp. Works great.
Darth Aloha replied to Wiggleplum's topic in Electronics for Helmets / Blasters
I would be curious how long the batteries last. The aker may be bulky but it lasts a long long time and it's rechargeable. Plus... I already have enough yuppie landfill guilt in life to be tossing more batteries away. Also the aker sends power to an icomm, which I luff. I doubt this thing could. However this little guy looks like a cheap and easy way to put sound in another project. Maybe Vader breathing, imperial march tunes, or your ghostbusters proton pack? I have a hard time putting music or chatter through my aker and getting my ipod and voice sound levels right. Aloha, -Eric -
Oops! Fixed -Eric

What helmet to get?
Darth Aloha replied to drummernic91's topic in Getting Started - Read this First!
By how you paint the helmet and which is your favorite film (actually that's not true... ESB is my favorite film but I prefer the look of a ANH stunt trooper) Aloha, -Eric -
EIB requirement question
Darth Aloha replied to TK5492's topic in FISD Expert Infantry Badge (EIB) Requirements
Tyler, While the belt should sit above the cut around the kidney... it shouldn't be a problem for EIB if you cover the cut with your belt... as long as you show in your app photos a cut exists. For various reasons my belt goes across my butt/kidney cut too. Aloha, -Eric -
Should I trim my butt plate?
Darth Aloha replied to NastyNoah's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
What if you raised your back so your kidney went higher and butt wouldn't overlap? Aloha, -Eric -
