Just seen a post from the 501st.... And noticed .....There is too much of a gap between ab and kidney, drop boxes should be hanging with 1mm to no gap from the belt. Remove black elastic between chest and back plate. Shatner is not an acceptable prop e-11! What else did I miss? --------

Looking at my knee ammo box. When I first assembled it I rounded off every edge. Not sure if I can rescue it or not! The TD was a mess too with that nipple thing! So I have removed the nipple, inverted it and began sanding. Something landed in the mail today...

Was having a scan through the boards the other night and came across this: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?/topic/26707-Cool-find-at-Radio-Shack. Anyway, I thought I would have a look on the UK eBay site and tad ah! It was the only one so I thought I'd make the purchase now whilst there was one available. Besides, I couldn't pass it up for £12.00. Don't you just love those "Your item has been dispatched" notifications I only hope it's as easy to assemble as everyone says!

Ok so whilst I contemplate what to do with those thighs, I thought I would continue with the belt Had a problem fighting with my rivet gun so decided to use poppers to attach it to the canvas belt. Hope this is OK, but it seems to work pretty well, and if for some reason I need to change belts it's an easy job. Belts with poppers installed: Buttons (and belt) acquired from Ross on the UKG - thanks bud - ready to cut out and trim: Finished cover: Completed belt with covers installed: Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

Bought my son one for Christmas. A bit small but looks OK. ..... apart from the mesh lense Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk -
Having accepted that the thighs are as they are, and not much I can do about them at the moment ( but still open to suggestions! ) I have decided to carry on the rebuild none the less. As I have ordered a new belt and have covers on the way I thought I would begin the prep. I have removed the old press stud covers which were used. Attached the drop boxes via studs ( I will change this method to the loop system further down the line if needed ) which when hanging free give around 1 mm clearance between boxes and belt. Marked out the 45° cuts I have to make in order to correct the rounded corners. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

Had a thought. Would it be possible to run abs paste down the seam, sand it down and polish it up? Or would this be too corrosive? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

I have been thinking long and hard about using the heat iron to replicate the piece that was chopped off. And to be honest am really anxious / reluctant to. Is there any way around this? Here's what I have.... The green highlights the shape of the outer thigh with the original molded raised seam. The purple on the inner has had the respective seam removed. Do I remove the remaining molded cover and butt the inner to the outer an place a cover strip which would look like this? Is this clearable? I am am really concerned as it should look like this. Would love to hear what you guys suggest. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

A question regarding SDS 501st basic approval

It's good to see you are coming around. Just do what you're comfortable with and others will walk you through the rest. Don't have much experience myself but if you need anything give me a shout ☺ Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk -
A question regarding SDS 501st basic approval
Troopacoola replied to humperdingle's topic in Hard Armor (General Discussion)
Is that an old video or is it recent? I know criteria does change from time to time as my older armour is still clearable but the lid from the same kit isn't. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk -

Just start with something you may feel your comfortable tackling. Like the biceps. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk -

This is how it is assembled, if I remove the raised seam then it would look like this with the cover strip Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

Only one has a raised seam. That's my concern about removing the one raised seam. If they had both I would year them apart and do the butt method. I don't think it could get cleared with no raised seam. I apologise for the condition. Like I said, when I first got it I didn't know what I was doing when I built it! I'm using the picsart app from the playstore Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

Remove the whole overlap (between red lines ) and butt together with cover? Would this be allowed ? As there would be no raised part on the front, apart from the cover strip over a flat seam. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
