  1. heart breaking RLH2515 I feel your pain mate. I had an issue on my lid too. Initially I screwed the first ear on the wrong side. Like yours, my issue was with the bottom screw. I was gutted.I had no alternative but to make some paste. I'd never done that before and I was so angry with myself. I thought that I may as well grab the bull by the horns. I drilled a whole in some scrap and the filled it with paste. There was no way I was doing it on my lid with no experience of how it works and what to sand it down with. I found that for me sanding it down and buffing it up with a nail polishing block have me the best result. So I went ahead after several practice attempts and I'm happy with the result. You can only really see the repair if you know it's there. Here's the block I used. You can pick them up for pennies on ebay Marc
  2. Cheers Chris, I don't know why I didn't see that! What are the measurements in though?
  3. Thanks Aaron. I'm bouncing between this and my armour build
  4. Hi T-jay and thanks! I've made my first booboo and was wondering if you could advise me on the following.1. I didn't measure the width of strip when I sanded down the ejection port. Do you know how wide it should be? 2. I've been looking all over and can't find the dimensions of the block which houses the front sight ( it's the piece I removed when filing it out) Marc
  5. Just started my Doopy's WIP today. So much work to do! Marc
  6. Hi all. I am posting this thread as I have begun my Doopy's build. I have seen so many amazing builds which have astounded me in terms of people's creativity, attention to detail and skills. Now I'm fully aware of my lack of experience, along with my limited ability. I'm not shooting for the stars with this one, but I do want to improve on the resin kit as is. All I'm looking for is to get it to a clearable standard as my Garrison won't clear you without a blaster. Here's the kit So here goes. First things first. That unsightly erm, front sight! Then it's onto the ejector port. Whilst tinkering about, I thought I would give the internal bolt and spring a go. With the help of an empty alluminium can, some putty (which was the last little bit I had left) an ally pipe and a permanent marker I made this. The spring was made by wrapping the wire around the permanent marker before it was sacrificed. It looks a bit crude now but when painted and with the abs raised diagonal bit added I'm sure it will look fine. Next to get the rotary treatment was the sight. I sourced a cheap 8x20mm monocular from eBay for £3.50 I ripped it apart an retained the lenses. Next was to cut through the resin. At this point I knew there was no going back! Once the front and rear of the sight were off, I began carving out the internal resin in order to allow the lenses to be housed. After test fitting the lenses it was time to paint the inside black. Once dry the lenses were fitted and then all glued back together. Once my putty arrives I can then fill any small gaps, mask off lenses and prep for paint. Next on the list is the d ring. With a lot of time spent bending metal and swearing because it just would not go right, I ended up with this. It's the best I could do, but I think its better than the Doopy's. I've also ordered some of these. They are shelf support pins, which I will use when I install the grip and mag housing etc. The stock has also had the treatment too. So that's where I'm upto at the minute. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks Marc
  7. Looking good there mate [emoji106] Marc My Wips... http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=61082 http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?/topic/38021-CTID's-RWA-ANH-Stunt-WIP......-501st-Here-we-go! http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=60937
  8. Put the entire link up mate [emoji6] Marc
  9. That's the same method I use, and then try and pull it off in one strip. Ah removing e6000 is either so satisfying or so frustrating, no middle ground ! Marc
  10. Hi mate. I didn't use the rivets on mine. I used small M3 bolts in case I needed to take it apart. You could always mark off and drill the holes and use one of the other bolts to hold it whilst you shape the ears. That way, if the ear doesn't cover the trim line and you need to trim further, then you can unbolt it. Once your happy and all fits, simply remove the bolt and rivet. [emoji6] Marc
  11. The first ear will look fine once the bolts tighten the gaps up and I think the second would look good too[emoji2] http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=61082 http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?/topic/38021-CTID's-RWA-ANH-Stunt-WIP......-501st-Here-we-go! http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=60937
  12. I see what you mean. In that case then it may be worth going down the plate route. http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=61082 http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?/topic/38021-CTID's-RWA-ANH-Stunt-WIP......-501st-Here-we-go! http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=60937
  13. Hi, first off I think it looks fine, the pic with you holding the problem side will be fine in my opinion. I had a the same kind of gap and the ear did cover that, so no need for caulk IMHO. Secondly, if the ear bolts look like they will go through both the front and back pieces then I don't think you need to put a plate inside. Marc http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=61082 http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?/topic/38021-CTID's-RWA-ANH-Stunt-WIP......-501st-Here-we-go! http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=60937
  14. Hi mate, I'd take more off. Heres how mine turned out. Marc http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=61082 http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?/topic/38021-CTID's-RWA-ANH-Stunt-WIP......-501st-Here-we-go! http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=60937
  15. I'd let it dry mate. If its a really thin layer, a little bit of friction using the tips of your fingers wiill bring it off. If its quite thick then you can pick at it, and pull it off [emoji6] http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=61082 http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?/topic/38021-CTID's-RWA-ANH-Stunt-WIP......-501st-Here-we-go!
  16. Here is a pic of the computer nuts I used to mount the lenses along with how I did it Along with the modelling putty. Its a really simple job, but hard to put into words. I will try my best to explain ! 1. I removed the face plate as this gave me more room to work, but I guess it can still be done without doing this. 2. I mounted the nuts (with the bolts already screwed into them to avoid any putty getting into the nuts) into a small amount of modelling putty and rolled them into small cylinders. 3. Once dry I removed the screws from the nuts and marked out where the were going to go in the lid, test fit them and then sanded down the bottoms until the lay flush with the eyes. 4. Once dry, then it was time to install. I mounted the sockets by using ca glue and then addad more clay to stick the socket to the lid and improve the look. 5. I then offered up each lense and marked the position of the top outside post. I then punched the hole for the first screw, fitted the lense and then tightened it up when I was happy of its position. Doing this secured the lense whilst I marked the other holes. 6. I then removed the lenses, painted the new mounts white. Once dry I took off the protective film and installed the lenses again. 17. My FX build was using really big ones. Which, as you mentioned got smashed to bits ! What diameter do you use? I'm onto 20mm x 3mm which I've not lost any to breakage yet. Marc
  18. Lol didn't even think of that. Something so basic and yet so helpful Marc
  19. The ears are the worst part of the build IMHO! Marc
  20. Could you not pull the ends of the brow trim down to cover it? Marc
  21. So I'm sat there last night looking at some of the armour all clamped and setting, when I thought about how many magnets had jumped out of my hand and smashed (usually when they're doubled/ trippled up) due to me not being able to determine the positive and negative. I then remembered that I had seen some people using the fabric pouch method. I'm pretty much done with glueing the limbs and thought about going that way, and then remembered what I saw on another thread (apologies, I don't recall who it was ). So, I began wrapping masking tape around my magnets and as I began stacking them, I made a mark to identify which way they would stack. The other benefits to this are: I have full flexibility in terms of how many I want to stack. If any do leap out of my hand and break, then the tape should hold them in place. Also this prevents the magnets scratching that lovely white armour [emoji6] Marc
  22. I think those small gaps in the ears will be fine mate. You've done well to get it that close.[emoji2] It took me 8 hours to do my ears![emoji22] Marc
  23. Hi mate. If you heat sear the ends of your elastic and double it over when you install the snaps, you won't need to stitch the elastics [emoji2] Marc
  24. Will we be seeing a modding thread Mr P? Marc
