  1. very nice! looks like a very clean build. i love the little extra details you put into the blaster as well excellent work trooper, APPROVED!!!
  2. you may need to do a little trimming.. but otherwise it looks great EIB Approved!!! oops wrong thread
  3. if you make any mistakes (like big gobs of running paint) wait until the paint is fully dry before trying to fix it...
  4. yes i think both options should be fine for base requirements all black could be a EI should have i think..
  5. best of luck!!! should be a easy pass
  6. i dont believe the black buttons were added to the ICN crl i think it needs to be fixed
  7. i started out in this hobby before i had even heard of the 501st. and the love for the hobby and the FISD were the two things that originally made me decide to go for 501st membership. even though i cant really get out and troop on a regular basis (due to my geographical location) it just seemed to me that becoming 501st as the next step forward in the hobby that i enjoy hey Michael, if your in eastern Canada you may be close to me i am near new Brunswick!
  8. could you just paint over them with white? and re color them using a bit less paint? i dont think it is the actual button size that is off, because ATA is screen accurate in that respect. looking at your pics it seems to me that you just used too much paint.. worth a try, and it will save you a few bucks!
  9. here the cheapest trim i can find anywhere -------------- as far as the color thing i cant say much as i used white but be sure give the appliance epoxy a minimum of 2 weeks dry time before really handling it, also some pictures would be helpful as well
  10. thanks guys! now for another 1000..
  11. for EU style armor (TKC/ICN,ext..) the ab has 5 buttons to get an accurate look. first i cut a piece of scrap hips and placed it next to the original ab button detail, then marked the approximate locations of the buttons on the scrap marking the 5th button as well.. after marking i drilled out the 5 holes then took the rounded button covers form some snaps (wal mart type) and painted them black just glue the snaps covers in place and you have a 5 button ab be sure to sand off any sharp edges before attaching the plate i will add filler at the top of the new plate before painting... this mod takes just a few minutes and cost next to nothing for the little extra detail..
  12. please dont lol!!! you will make a lot of work for me.. ill wear out my delete key
  13. wow.. has it only been a little over a year?? it seems like a lot longer lol thanks Tom!!! no wonder i just had to replace another keyboard
  14. a few references of the box to get you started --------
  15. like Pat said about reading, that is also a piece of really good advice going through build threads and studying the screenshots will give the upper hand when your armor arrives as well..
  16. i love the weathering.. and i am liking the ear rank markings more and more every time i see them
  17. well. plastic model kits use a lot of the same methods and can be fun as well this is great site if your interested http://www.starwarsmodels.com/ you could also try to make a grappling hook box. it is a small project that looks like fun as well --------
  18. i can see he is very skinny.. i think a bit of foam padding would fill out the ab and kidney to close the gaps..
  19. that looks better Tom perhaps in the case of the EU crl's in general a added note as well? other weapon/accessories may be acceptable if references are provided before EI submission.. unlike the movie canon the EU can always change through added game content/DLC unknown numbers of sequels and spin-offs while the EU is known as the expanded universe a better term would be the expanding universe
  20. i am a bit of an amature sabersmith myself but my first attempt somehow became a gun!! more here http://s880.photobucket.com/albums/ac5/dashrazor/pre%20pro%20fett%20blaster/
  21. that is just beautiful.. can you buy like a cheaper FX version? or is it all custom? i want one lol also do you think any Graflex should be allowed for a base requirement like i posted above? it is more common? i found one starkiller saber on the bay but its like 500$ it looks like a pretty hard item to get so do you think this looks better 1) Based approved : any Graflex based lightsaber (ANH/ESB Luke Skywalker saber or similar). 2) Must have for EI : Starkiller saber or modified Graflex or custom type lighsabers that resemble those seen in the games 3) Should have for EI: Starkiller lightsaber to match the game references as closely as possible. may also carry 2 lightsabers* i only used the luke's anh/esb saber because it is easily obtained as a base, where starkiller TFU sabers are only custom made as far as i know
  22. well how many people got 2 coins??? i thought only one was allowed per person?
  23. any acceptable armor/helmet combination will work as long as you follow the crl.. if your planning to go EIB you'll have to butt-join the butt/kidney plates so they are one piece on a non ROTJ style kit.. i am doing that now on an ATA kit for a EU build..
  24. oh.. i forgot may have: 2 lightsabers
  25. for TKC and other EU variants from TFU should follow the game models as closely as possible either a garaflex type as seen on screen (resembles a ANH ESB luke saber) or this model from the force unleased 2 concept art how does this sound? 1) Based approved : any Graflex based lightsaber. 2) Must have for EI :ANH/ESB Luke Skywalker or Graflex type lighsaber that resembles that seen in the game 3) Should have for EI: custom modified lightsaber to match the game references as closly as possible. i only used the luke's anh/esb saber because it is easily obtained, where starkiller TFU sabers are only custom made as far as i know sound good? perhaps a saber expert could chime in
