  1. Use the reference pics from the "photo references" available as your guide. Draw out on the parts with pencil. Then, if you want, you can use a good quality masking tape. Trooperbay offers some templates.
  2. First...to eliminate one concern......your forearms are glued on both upper and lower seams. For the calf closure, the most popular us the original method using a small strap and a metal hook that hoes into small holes drilled into the opposite side as seen here
  3. Nice, Jay. Those are them
  4. Just hysterical!
  5. CLARIFICATION!!!! AP is NOT bigger than ATA. Now, as long as your "around the middle at the belly button" measurement is no bigger than 34 inches, you have all sorts of awesome options open to you! AP, RS Props, Troopermaster, are the best for your your size. The last are the best from an accuracy standpoint.
  6. There is no such thing as a symmetrical set of shins. No matter what armor maker you have, also, take the fact that the parts align as well as they do as a gift. If you are certain that you gave the correct parts matched together, worry about marrying those parts together correctly and less about how they look prior to assembly.
  7. Got the popcorn hot and buttered!
  8. contact the maker of the armor you got your first ears from
  9. I think it looks great!
  10. Believe it or not, some troopers are not even aware the FISD exists. But beyond that, and WAY more concerning to me, are the troopers that have been razzed and are telling other people to stay away from that ELITEST GROUP OF SNOBS over at FISD. To give people a negative opinion of us before even visiting this page is terrible but it is happening. What some think is harmless razzing is just low scale bullying. Does the trooper really even care that his tube stripes are out of position or he has an ESB holster on his ANH armor? Probably not. But it's not our place to make him feel that his armor is lower quality because of stuff like that. If people want more information, they will ask. If you have done 70 hours of research, took 4 months to build it and have your armor/blaster looking better than the ones on film....OUT friggin STANDING!!!!! But that doesn't automatically give you the right to put down others. No matter what is worn and how it is worn, we are here for same reason playing for the same team! Let the GML's make the basic decisions.
  11. The mineral spirits will do everything you need it to. It will remove large areas, small areas, whatever. But you want to stay in control so you don't get paint all over everything. Small areas at a time until you achieve what you want
  12. Make sure you find someone in relative proximity to you. They will need you around for sizing parts properly.
  13. Actually, line up the horizontal line that goes across the ab with the top of the kidney notch. Do a side by side with the above pic compared to yours
  14. He is still doing this after all these years of no one EVER using them??? It's like he's saying, "here....you throw these out for me."
  15. Sorry! A good typist I am not. It is supposed to be "any" mineral spirits thinner. You can use any soft cloth. Just use new areas of your rag so you aren't spreading paint all over making a mess
  16. Looks terrific so far! Nice overall build. Regarding the paint I ask again.......the tears and traps have the slightest pinstripe outlining the gray. Why fill in the entire area with black??? That just requires more gray to cover it. Lots of wasted paint and time IMHO.
  17. Well done guy!
  18. Ridge thingy is a technical term
  19. We are part of a costuming club. Within our walls contains passionate people who are strong in their beliefs and proud of who they have become. Everyone has the right to provide opinions which can be sometimes strongly defended. And good for anyone who has an opinion! Everyone knows about the ruling of the FX helmet. However, there are those members who have rocked their FX armor (some for 10 years or better )and will not upgrade which is their right. Many of these members are VERY STRONGLY opinionated on this subject. There are some people who would like to see the FX helmet eliminated all together but that, too, is an opinion. JUST AN OPINION! It is not our job to force the idea of upgrading on members whose right it is to keep their FX armor that they have had for so many years. If these members inquire about upgrading, by all means encourage and guide them. However, I have heard from a few FX wearing members that they have been harassed by some FISD members for wearing FX. If this indeed happened, this is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. We are here to give support no matter what the maker of armor a member chooses to buy with their own money.
  20. Something to be proud of. Nice work, Dylan!
  21. PM'd you regarding the belt
  22. As for joining your armor, if you have an interest in achieving any of the accuracy badges, you need to construct the two piece parts like the thighs, forearms and biceps by butt joining. The part halves come directly together forming a single seam that is hidden under a cover strip. Continue your research as these cover strips do have specific widths.
  23. You have been guided well so far! http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/8117-helmet-ab-paint-detail-reference-guide/ That is a link to your paint colors
  24. TM does offer that service.
  25. Ant mineral spirits based paint thinner will work great without damaging the plastic. DO NOT under any circumstance consider an acetone based thinner.
